  • Admitting her "mistake"

[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's long strange journey on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I agree that her authorization vote wasn't really a mistake, to her way of thinking. She did the "safe" thing and voted to support Bush so she wouldn't look like a "terrorist sympathizer," I'm guessing. Or maybe she really thought we should go in there and attack the place--this is why I'm uncomfortable with the thought of voting for her. I suspect she is a lot more hawkish than she lets on. As for flip-flopping, she is certainly not afraid of doing this re the Florida-Michigan "primaries." She is on record as agreeing that because FLA and MI broke the rules, the vote there wouldn't count. Now she is going back on what she said and pressuring Obama to count them. Is this what we can expect of her as President? Saying one thing to get elected and doing another when she is elected? Haven't we had 7+ years of this already? I saw a link to a study on DK that said the vote in FLA is misleading becasue more than 2 million people didn't vote because they thought it wouldn't count, so we have no way of knowing whether HRC "won" there. Also, didn't Obama really win Texas? More delegates and bigger popular vote from what I understand.

  • Put their comments side by side

[Read the article: Journalists, McCain and the false Iran/al-Qaida link]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What would be useful would be to put the comments of individual members of the press side by side: what they said about Bush before the 2000/2004 elections and what they're saying about McCain in 2008. I think a lot of similarities between how they speak about these candidates would be quite evident--my reaction to media "wisdom" nowadays is that they are doing for McCain exactly what they did for Bush--presenting McCain as straightforward, committed, what have you. Put the heat on a different media individual every day and ask them to explain how, if they were so spectacularly wrong about Bush, we are supposed to take their assessments seriously now. Thye need to be taken to account, one by one.

  • Get GG a regular tv gig

[Read the article: "Great American Hypocrites: Toppling the Big Myths of Republican Politics"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Glenn, I think what is called for is to get you a regular talking head gig on tv--you could start with Olbermann then maybe move to Hardball or Dan Abrams--we need someone with your point of view on the air--after all, so many cable news shows present rightwingers as if they are "normal" people--very few of the left on tv. How can we do this? A letter-writing or email campaign? I'm surprised that in light of the endless Democratic campaigns, MoveOn or some other org has not devoted itself full time to bashing McCain. We can't wait on this.

  • often wondered the same thing

[Read the article: John Yoo's war crimes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why is this guy teaching at Berkeley? Have students there protested this?

Also: noticed you got a mention (as "Salon's Glenn Greenwald") on last night's "Countdown"--next step--an appearance. People should email countdown@msnbc.com and push them to do this--with your book coming out, it's the perfect time.

Also, saw an article in the NYTimes this morning about the increased diversity among cable tv commentators--diverse as to gender and race. But an overwhelming number of them were described as "Republican" or "conservative" or "right [wing]"--there's an imbalance that needs to be addressed--and rectified.

  • give him an earful

[Read the article: John Yoo's war crimes]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Want to let John Yoo know what you think of him? I found two email addresses for him: jyoo@law.berkeley.edu and yoo@law.berkeley.edu. A better tactic would be to let the Dean's office at the law school know what you think of Yoo teaching there--no email listed but phone #: 510-642-6483.

  • ask them about Bush

[Read the article: Book news and media campaign coverage]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I haven't watched the interview with Cox but the next time a journalist complains that you're being mean and making their lives difficult. I would ask them what kind of coverage they gave Bush in 2000 and 2004, how many times his "manliness" was emphasized by the media. If they aren't personally guilty of overtly favoring (or fawning over) Bush, they at least know how many of their colleagues were and how much responsibility they bear for these actions. That should shut her/them up.

  • That's it for me!

[Read the article: The rubes and the elites]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Good-bye Salon! After reading this distorted piece of drivel and the even more distorted response letters from Obama-haters/Hillary lovers, I'm done. The only thing worth reading here now is Glenn Greenwald. You got rid of the Blog Report to focus on crap like this??? Where is your piece on the White House torture fest? Your attempt to turn Salon into an arm of the HRC campaign is doomed to failure and so is she.

  • Thanks for this response

[Read the article: Is it "contradictory" to decry the right's tactics while insisting on their equal application?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thanks for this response--I read the review but didn't want to take the time and trouble to register to give him a response. What is completely lacking in the review is the step Barnett fails to take in linking the mythical presentation of figures like Reagan to the political use that is made of these myths by Republican operatives and the attempts to smear the opposition. He makes the same mistake/ommission with the neocons--they aren't just men with opinions someone might find repugnant--they are people who actively influenced the foreign policy of this country. I am still blown away by the fact that people took the swiftboating of Kerry seriously--when his opponent was too drunk/stoned to take the physical that was part of his elite, million-dollar, combat-avoiding "service"! Chris Matthews had the swiftboaters on for MONTHS, even after they were pretty well discredited, treating them like people worthy of respect!

And now I watch in disbelief as MSM-types continue to spin this Obama elitism story, clinging to their "take" in the face of pretty strong evidence to the contrary that the "insulted" really didn't feel insulted (and oblivious to the irony of elite MSMers speaking for the "common man")! These are the same frigging people who sold the more naive among us with the "Bush is a regular guy you can have a beer with and he understands you--he'll keep you safe"--and they aren't even the least little bit ashamed! I keep waiting for someone to confront them on the air about this. How about some video on Matthews drooling over Bush's "manliness"? We need more of this pointing the finger.
