Helping men deal with abortion

This web site is excellent and should be read by all men. It is empathetic, truthful and tells the facts. It also refers men to other web sites for helpful info. I certainly agree with much better birth control practices, including abstinence for those who want to practice it and many fewer abortions. Pro choice and Pro life need to continue to work together to accomplish this and stop the fighting which goes no where!

Woman's friends will support them. Men may keep this a secret forever which can eat at their souls and cause chronic underground grieving.

People who wait until their 30's and 40's to marry aren't usually going to stay abstinent! Kids should stay abstinent longer than they do these days. Education is the key with a healthy dose of values thrown in....not religious in schools but the golden rule, healthy practices, honoring each other and not getting ahead of yourself developmentally and economically..

Keep your eyes open and focused on Bush

Yes, he is a dry drunk! He is also one of the few Christians I know who doesn't go to church or have a Christian mentor to keep him on track.

He has this whole Messianic thing going on which is also narcissistic. We'd better watch him closely before he gives away the store or blows up the world. Seriously, we as a country are in big trouble because I believe he is in trouble psychologically. Pray, burn sage, chant or meditate, etc., whatever your path is because we are going to need all the help we can get to keep our heads above water. I'm just a nurse and a plain old Unitarian but I am uncharacteristically concerned about the next three years!

Original article: The truthiness hurts

Colbert is brave, funny and accurate!

I loved everything about Colbert's performance. He was so spot on about Bush, politicians in general and the White House Press Corps except for a few rabble rousers we all know and love. It took some courage to do it in front of the people he was trying to use irony to get to. I think the audience response was just so perfect. "You're messing with me so I'm sitting on my hands and shutting down my vocal chords".

Since when did all these famous Hollywood types get to decorate the place? I think that is disgusting! Fame and Power wins the day again. How about what actually was visible, shame and inability to do any critical thinking while running the country into the ground! Is there an anthem for that?

Banks screening for terrorist activity

Thanks, Joe!! All any idiot has to do is put "2003 bank screening terrorist" and there are a bunch of articles that fall out about the SWIFT although they don't call it SWIFT screening that was being done, including instructions for doing it in 2003 from .gov agencies. I remember when the story broke in 2003 as a result of the Patriot Act? Why doesn't anyone else remember it?

Where have the real journalists been in reporting this story? There can't be treason if everyone has had access to the story for three years. Why am I not reading Joe's story in every newspaper in the USA? What's going on here?? Where is the pushback from journalists to Bush and the rest of the administration who are trying to make this a campaign issue? Am I loosing my mind?

Original article: I am your elder

Cutting through the crap as usual, Garrison! You are a treasure and right on the money. How can these folks live with themselves? They are the poster boys and girls for"not working up to capacity.

Original article: Paging the Ethics Committee

Adult to teen sexual emails

Anyone who knows about the impact of sexual activities with minors on minors, be it over the Internet or in person will not question whether or not Rep Foley did something very wrong. Any time you have someone in a powerful position suggesting sex to a kid, it can have a very negative impact on a kid which can result in shame, depression and other mental health symptoms years down the road.

This is further complicated by the fact that some of these kids were probably straight and were totally freaked out about being approached. Other kids might not have been sure of their sexual orientation yet and were traumatized as well. The gay kids should not have been exposed to being hit on by a congressman either! Nobody wins here. Those that knew should have stopped it years ago!!

The ethics committee is toothless and unethical itself so I see little that it can or will do here.

Lying about drinking

The last time I checked, addiction had relapse embedded in it and guilt is a part of relapse. Don't ask us about what to do.

Work with your sponsor while doing the steps with your group and your sponsor and it will all come to you about what to do next. Lots of people relapse. It's normal, especially if you loose touch with a 12 step group.

Glad you found it again so just walk the walk, keep your side of the street clean, keep going back and everything will work out the way it is supposed to be. This has been very successful for my son with 17 years of sobriety and he is 37. Good luck!

Taking care of our soldiers

I have heard of this same problem in the Dallas are where returning soldiers who need assistance get no one to answer the 800 numbers given for them to call for help.

A government that won't take excellent care of its returning and injured servicemen and women is morally bankrupt. We ask them to sacrifice everything including, life, limb, family, mental health, income etc and we are not willing to step up to the plate to care for them. That's right up there with not being truthful about the need for invading Iraq in the first place!
