Very Ominous
[Read the article: Progress in Iraq? U.S. Embassy workers describe their lives]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No one seems to have noticed this, but in paragraph 15 of the memo, some workers wonder what the plan is in the event the Green Zone has to be "evacuated"... Shades of Vietnam!

Good Memories
[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is this the car he got one of his two DWI's in??

I'm Gonna Disagree..
[Read the article: Battling Democrats' indifference]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]with all this piling on. The Democrats have no forum right now. They are barred from the Rep. caucuses. They get locked/thrown out of committee meetings. They have no subpoena power. They are hardly ever seen on the talk shows. (Shame on Chris Matthews, Tim Russert and even Keith Olbermann -who always seems to just have the embarassing Bob Shrum for the Democratic POV!) They have no power. Get it? No power. No bully pulpit, no nothing. Instead of blaming them, let's blame ourselves a little bit. We can give money, give time and give voice in all sorts of ways. Don't expect those folks in congress to do all the heavy lifting. This all kind of reminds me of one of my favorite bumper stickers- "If the people lead, the leaders will follow".

Swift Boat Reincarnated
[Read the article: Webb takes a turn on the hot seat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Olly North Republican remembers Webb's racism. What a surprise.

Liar Liar
[Read the article: They really knew Jack]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Funny thing about Bush and his White House. They will lie until confronted with indisputable evidence to the contrary. And then will keep on lying....

Full Disclosure
[Read the article: Situation hopeless? Call in Florida's secretary of state]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maybe this wouldn't be so bad if the signs they post say:
"The previous candidate, Republican Mark Foley, was discovered to be a sexual predator, having preyed on 16 year old male pages, and resigned in humiliation and shame from the office. This is the party's substitute candidate, who we know little about."
Better now?

South Rising?
[Read the article: Do Democrats need the South?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Call me a nit-picker, but Arkansas should be colored Blue! We just elected a Democratic governor, lt. governor and attorney general. We have two Democratic senators and three (of four) Democratic congressmen. This southern state is rising again, in a good way!

Bush Scandals
[Read the article: Bush administration: "Mostly free of scandal"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Extraordinary Renditions", Mark Foley (covered up by the White House/Rove), 9/11 Workers Health Risk suppression.
You're right, the list just goes on and on....

Population Control
[Read the article: Bill McKibben says we're stuffed]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No one talks about it anymore. Thirty or forty years ago it was widely discussed. Have we come to the point that we think the reproductive right is just that, a "right" and we refuse to discuss it as really a responsibility, part of being good stewards? My personal thought is that we are so vain about our so-called "Children of God" status that we believe humans are somehow apart/exempt from the natural process and we can have as many human babies as we can produce. This is simply nonsense and with an ever expanding human population, there will never be enough resources and/or conservation thereof to keep up with it. If people don't get a grip and stop with the over-populating, nature will do it for us. This is my voice in the wilderness contribution. Thanks.

No Citations!
[Read the article: Absolute immunity?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's very curious to me that the author of the letter really cites no caselaw in support of the USDOJ position. The only citations are to the opinions of other occupants of the the executive branch. The one USSC case cited in a footnote refers to congress and not the executive. This very likely means that there ARE NO cases that support their position. Congress must move forward quickly with contempt citations against the witnesses. I imagine these cases would be expedited on the court dockets. These cases would be decided and reviewed in weeks or months, not years.
One more thing. It's really funny to me that these tough talking Texans running the government, who want us to believe that they are "men's men" and take no truck from "wimpy democrat congressmen", hide behind the short skirts of these attractive blonde women (ie Monica Goodling and Sara Taylor) whom they throw to the wolves at the first sign of trouble!

Re-Title
[Read the article: Barney Frank on the regulation warpath]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Barney Frank is absolutely right, of course. However, your headline to this report is VERY misleading. Please change it to say BARNEY FRANK ON THE "DEREGULATION" WARPATH.

Who are you kidding?
[Read the article: The sun blotted out from the sky]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Two words: population control.

Can we go back to John Murtha, please?
[Read the article: Hoyer hails FISA bill as "a significant victory for the Democratic Party"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hoyer's not even a blue dog Democrat anymore, more of a red dog now. I had a friend in law school who had a great expression for stuff like this. He'd say, 'they're pouring muddy water on us and telling us it's raining!' My question is: what would Murtha do?

Situation Hopeless
[Read the article: Hoyer hails FISA bill as "a significant victory for the Democratic Party"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well, scratch Murtha. I checked and he voted "Aye", too. Signing off, now...
