Conservatives can not thrive without having something to bitch about! Last December they griped about the phrase "Happy Holidays" and about not having "Christ in Christmas". Never mind that Christmas has been primarily a commercial holiday since retailers found out that they could make money off of it in the 1950s.

Now they're bitching about a Spanish-language version of the national anthem. How long is this going to go on? I'm guessing maybe a month or two. Then their favorite commentators will tell them to complain about something else, and they'll follow along like lemmings, as they always do.

This whole thing deserves to be treated as the criminal issue that it is. As a mother of a daughter who is one-quarter Mexican (and definitely looks like that part of her ancestry), I especially took offense at the racist remark directed at the Latina. In addition to the sexism they all experienced, she had to endure racism as well - that really sucks!

I hope that Broadsheet will continue to keep us posted on this and lets us know how it is resolved.

Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's better. In many ways, Mother Nature is the ultimate bitch! I don't understand why people are so upset - this is progress! Granted, there is a potential for lots of bad side effects that many other letter writers have already mentioned. So progress is nowhere near complete, but as someone who has suffered from heavy periods in the past, this is still a step in the right direction.

Let's just say I'm glad that this drug is out, but I'm not going to be the first on my block to try it. For the same reason that I'm never the first one to try anything. Regardless of what it is - a new computer, drug or whatever, the new thing will be more expensive and have "bugs to work out". This is called growing pains, people. Yes, it sucks, but it's a helluva lot better than living in a world where nothing ever changes or improves!

There is nothing nice about calling this guy a jackass, but I'm not going to apologize. Like many of you, I would not have dreamed of calling a total stranger a jackass when I was younger, 'cause I wasn't brought up that way. Nowadays, you've got to fight fire with fire! And I think that's the whole root of the problem. If you act nice in 2006, you might very well get taken advantage of. Better to be a hardass and not feel bad about it!

Actually, I'm not always so hard. I've worked retail and am well aware that it's hell on earth. With that in mind, I always make an effort to be polite to clerks. But I won't bullshit them either - if they foul up, I'm the first to gripe to their supervisor. However, I'm also the first person to let the supervisor know of any great service I've received. All too often, people will gripe in a heartbeat, but never say anything about the good customer service they've experienced. I believe that one must be totally honest about both the good and the bad.

but I often ask myself why I waste time reading these letters. The hell of it is, they're addicting. Like potato chips, you can't have just one! Then when I see a letter that bothers me, I just have to respond. I know, it's a vicious cycle to get caught up in.

I like Cary because he is so compassionate - the total opposite of Dr. Laura, Dr. Phil and the like. We all need to make an effort to understand people, and open our minds.

When she first came out with the nasty comments about the "Jersey Girls", I was 100% in favor of them suing her. I still like the idea, but fear that they'd have a hard, if not impossible, task of winning the suit. Regardless of whether they sue or not, I'll be rooting for them, Murtha, and everyone else she has attacked.

to hear from girls who have actually done this, and yes, I certainly would not blame them for posting anonymously. Many of you have been blaming "low self-esteem", and that may be most of the problem. But I don't think that it's the whole story. And why do they have such crappy self-esteem to begin with? (This is a subject that Broadsheet could easily do a year's worth of columns about!)

And we haven't heard anything about what happens to the girls afterwards. That is, if they remember anything about it after the drugs and/or alcohol wear off. Are they embarassed? Do they have so much fun making out with women that they become lesbians for real?

Granted, a few genuine lesbians have posted here complaining about the posers, and I certainly understand why they are upset, as I would be. But I'd still like to hear from the fakers, if they've got the guts to 'fess up.
