The ISG report is a perfect thing for republicans to support because it's another non-solution written by stupid white people. Remember this: the republicans told us several years ago that they wanted nothing whatsoever to do with the "reality-based community." They won't even turn around and move towards reality, much less embrace it.
Democrats would be best served by moving towards reality, however painful that might be in the short term.
The reality is that there has been a Tet Offensive in Iraq practically every day since Bush invaded.
The other reality is that nobody can stop a war once it's been started.
The Dems should forget about winning the Iraq war (it's already lost) or ending the Iraq war and just bring our troops home.
In the reality-based community, the ones who bring our troops home will win elections, and will be hailed as heroes.
The Iraq war is the fault of all the Americans who believed and continue to believe the nonsensical blatherings of Bush and the republicans.
"We have to beat 'em over there, so that they don't follow us back here." Excuse me? Are the Iraqis cute little puppies?
Did the North Vietnamese follow us back here after we withdrew our forces from Viet Nam?
The only "beating" that's going to be done is more beating up on Americans by Bush and the republicans.
What do people think about when they're pumping $3-a-gallon gas into their vehicles these days? Are they thinking, "Boy, if I ever find out who's responsible for the high price of gas, I'm sure going to give them a piece of my mind!" Apparently so.
What fools.
Alan Watts, the late religious scholar and spiritual teacher, once said, "Nature never makes an aesthetic mistake." I take Watts' statement to mean that aesthetic sensibility only exists within the human ego. Therefore Nature and the human ego cannot coexist, and are constantly at war with each other.
Which side will ultimately win? My money is on Nature.
Thanks, Mr. Tomorrow.
Gonzalez wanted to be the hispanic Clarence Thomas, and if a few things had turned out differently, he might have been appointed to the Supreme Court.
The only lifetime position he can look forward to now is that of "sellout to the gringos."
That's all right, though, A.G. Don't worry: "Juan" Cornyn will defend you.
Group photo of all repub candidates, and then, "BOHICA!" (Bend over, here it comes again!)
Photo of presumed repub nominee, and then, "An alligator's mouth loaded on a parakeet's ass!"
Republican: I really like what Fred Thompson said!
Reporter: But he didn't say anything.
Republican: Exactly!
"Bubba" is a racist idiot who always votes against his own self-interest. Of course the Democrats aren't pandering to Bubba. What a waste that would be.
To Bubba, the Democratic party is the party of racial minorities, and that's why Bubba will never vote Democratic.
The first time I ever heard of Chris Matthews was on the evening of the day of the Columbine massacre.
I was channel surfing and for some reason, or perhaps no reason, stopped at "Hardball."
It was at the beginning of the show, and Matthews was blaming Hillary Clinton for Columbine because of some paper she allegedly wrote in grad school.
Talk about a moonbat.
Everybody seems to understand, if not approve of, the reasons that Joe Lieberman is working so hard to undermine efforts to end the Iraq War and to restore our basic civil rights here in the U.S.
Is there a reason that the same template shouldn't be applied to Feinstein? So what if she's from California? What does that prove?
She's probably afraid that Californians will recall her, like they did that other "liberal," Gray Davis.
I just think she's in a pissing contest with Lieberman to determine which of them, as "Democrats," will get to address the Republican National Convention next year.
. . . and it always has been.
Reagan made racism fun again for white America. That's why the Republicans miss him so much.
Paul Krugman is more than an economist-turned-pundit. He is a truth-teller. And the Big Truth he tells is this: The definition of a liberal is a person who is not a racist. And liberals aren't racists because their consciences won't let them be racists.
Ugg! Neanderthal now extinct! Just like republican party!
There is one sentence referencing the Enoch Powell incident, but it's a very vague reference. Clapton doesn't tell what he said about EP.
The book isn't great, but it's a good read.
Yep, unless you were an American bluesman, you could never be pure enough for Eric. It's hilarious, and exasperating, too, to read how Eric, the punk kid, drove John Mayall and all the other Brit cats crazy with his incessant, nagging insistance that they play only the purest of blues. And that was well before he got into drugs and booze.
He was a piece of work.
In the beginning, there was the Billy Graham brand. I can see why the Bush family was in such awe of Graham. He had established his brand and developed it into a worldwide phenomenon.
The Bush family was dying to develop its own brand, but lacking any imagination, intelligence or spirituality, they had no idea how to launch it themselves. So they just became a parasite of Billy Graham, Inc. until they'd sucked enough blood out of him to stand on their own--or to at least appear to be standing on their own.
