4 day bender

ohhh please this guy went on a six day bender that made having an affair with an Argentine woman sound tame. Seriously, an affair with a mysterious Argentine woman? Who would buy line of BS.

Broken gods laws and asked for forgiveness? WWSD?

good article

Thank you for this article. I was watching these adds and wondering: Why is insulting funny? Why is rude funny? In my book it's not.

Vacation

I believe what Cary is trying to say is that the LW needs a vacation - alone. She should take a cruise to someplace warm, let others do all the cooking and cleaning, read books or watch movies. Go to bed early and sleep late. Don't do anything. Lay in the sun & breath in salty air. Don't drink. Leave the family at home and write a postcard saying, "wish you were here" but secretly be grateful for five-seven days all to yourself.

fun article

Farhad Manjoo I like the article. OK, maybe the stuff doesn't work. But I've tried it and like it. Does that mean I ever thought that the immune boosting and cold cure like the company claimed actually worked. NO. But it made be feel better to be taking something. Why? Because It's something that doesn't have pseudophedrine in it, which in my state you need to go to a pharmacy to get. AND It's fizzy with a lemony taste. Nothing wrong with lemony fizzy.

ummmm

I can almost guarantee than any working mother does way more work than I do (as a childless 30 something) in any given week, and last I checked with my childed married friends they don't get paid OT for being a mom.

Original article: "The Bourne Ultimatum"

YES, What Craig Rhodes said!

Craig, you have it on the nose. I found the shakey (camera man on high doses of caffine)filming to be incredibly distracting to the movie. I did like "Bourne Ultimatum" but it very hard to watch. As an effect every so often "shakey camera effect" would be nice, but all the time through the whole movie, very dizzying & very noticeable.

forget everything

....forget everything you learned, read, saw about this ill gotten knowledge. Lock it up in a steal box in your mind, with a dozen chains wrapped around, and don't ever think about it again. It's not pertinent to the future, to your relationship, or to you.

Original article: Death-wish granny

what gets me......

...is that it's perfectly legal to "withhold" food and water (on terminal patients) for two weeks until the body shuts down (starving a person to death) but not to give the same person an overdose of a medicine that would put him to sleep painlessly.

If I treated a pet that way I'd be sent to jail for cruelty to animals.

Original article: I hate my cat!

Kennel/Cage

I think you should buy a big cage or kennel, somthing that a litter box/food will fit in (or a small bathroom) to lock the cat up in. If you know you have people coming over or the super to check things - lock the cat up. Make sure he has a safe place to hide if strangers are coming over (a tall cat tree, or shelf). If you are petting him and he begins to get agressive/tense, put him in the cage. Be 'over the top' happy with praise when he's being good & give him a treat or some cat nip (somthing he likes). You can do it, It'll take time to change his behavior. But cats can be trained.

I agree

with Tina Trent's husband, and would like to add.
What's wrong with joining the Military? I think that a war going on (and an unjustified one at that) makes joining up scary, but not wrong. It sounds like the LW needs some discipline, responsibility, and direction in her life and the military may just provide that. A life of, " 'oops' I guess I don't want to do this how do I get out of it", is not a better choice. I think she made a commitment and should follow through.

Original article: Accidental babies

not accidents?

Exactly, how many teen pregnancies are in Colorado to begin with? I would bet that way more than 25% of teen pregnancies were intended - teenagers lie. I was at a baby shower for a friends teen 16 yr old daughter, the girl invited her friends - of 8 girls all but one were pregnant. Most teens are way more savy than you'd think. The real question is: What in our society made these girls think their only option was getting pregnant?

Who wrote this Paris Hilton?

Cary, I admire the fact that you give everyone equal opportunity to vent, even if the problem is kinda silly (like this one).

episcomom - what you said is perfect!

If the only choices that the next presidental election gives me is between Clinton or McCain, I'm not voting (Or at least I'll leave the presidental box unchecked).

guns and who?

does anyone actually care anymore that sometime in the next centure A.Rose may release a new album?

arrrggghhhh

Why video games? Last I heard it was still a parents responsibility to know what games are in/playing on the game station. This topic made me angry when Billery went off on GTA (Grand Theft Auto)a few years back. I think she needs to actually spend time playing these games before she starts regulating them. Ripping the heads off aliens may actually help with the other frustrations in her life.

What would he have written

Isn't any one else (I admit, I didn't read all the letters) curious about what Cary would/should have said to LW if she hadn't put a limit on what the response would be?
On that note, geez LW if you don't care about the family the rest of the time, why should you care about where the money goes? What a grinch!

NFL

This sounds just like NFL commentators during a big game saying, "the only way they'll win is if they get more touchdowns". Stating the obvious as the truth and forgetting that maybe this is not a war we should win - I'm all for loosing if it means bringing our troops home sooner.
