We Lost fans that didn't abandon the show owe a debt of gratitude to those that did. If there hadn't been such a big ratings drop after the second crap filled season the writers wouldn't have been forced to listen to people's complaints and actually start writing some story. If there were still 18-20 million people watching the finale would be 2 more hours about Jack's tatoos and Charlie's smack head brother. Of course if the ratings go up then they'll back out of their promise to end it in 48 episodes and add 2 more years of filler.
As a Canadian and longtime fan of the NFL and Canadian Football League I can tell you the same thing I said about the XFL: There aren't enough QBs to go around. There are plenty of most of the other positions maybe even running backs but not QBs. The CFL has always been very entertaining football but it has had a problem for the last 15 or so years there are never enough quality throwers to go around and without one your team stinks. The NFL now regularly has at least 5 QBs on the payroll with the 3rd string clipboard guy often making 500-900K. Pay in the CFL is usually 250-500k for QBs with the Arena league being a little less than that. So unless this new league is willing to throw 1-2 million at some QB prospects they'll never make a go of it.
They already had a congressional inquiry or whatever the hell it was When Palmeiro and Sosa lied under oath but Marc Maguire was unwilling to (although he's the one people blame). All they had to do was give Canseco immunity and he would have testified to everything but back then Baseball and just about every reporter working didn't believe the stuff Canseco said in his book.
As far as Pete I always thought they should put him in the Hall and just list his crimes against baseball on his plaque. His accomplishments as a player are what the Hall is about not his gambling as a manager. The idea that a bunch of alcoholic degenerate baseball writers are the arbiters of all that is allowable to be a Hall of Famer is laughable.
Also when will they be booting out all the Hall of Fame players who played on Amphetamines? Can't be more than about a hundred of them.
Even James Hanson the Nasa scientist and head of the "Sky is Falling" crowd has admitted that the predictions of super Hurricanes caused by Global warming was bad science.
I gave it a chance there have been 7 episodes and it has become more meaningless with each one. On top of that they've now decided to write Mitch out of the show completely so they can add more goofy characters like Trixie and the harelip. The whole meeting with Luke Perry and his staff and Wonder Boy was just writer masturbation with all the jargon nonsence. This show will have 3 more episodes without anything coming together and then it won't be picked up for next season.
Ps all the surfing shots of Butchie were long lens faraway so I couldn't tell if it was him or a double so why did they need to cast non actors again?
If the large animals could survive then humans would as well. Even if only 5% of the population survived they would adapt to their new enviroment and continue to rule over the animals just as the Neanderthals did
I've always found this to be a stupid part of baseball some player getting into a yelling match with an umpire. Even sillier is the tradition of having the manager come out of the dugout after a bad call and doing some silly performance so that he gets tossed out of the game. All sports should be like football if you even say boo to the ref the flags fly.
I'm kind of indifferent to the whole steroid thing its been around so long. Olympic athletes have been juicing for 40 years. In the NFL The Pittsburgh Steelers Offensive line were all Roid users by the mid 70s and now I'm sure league wide its above 70% of players using. In baseball its all about the endless fascination with stats even though it is stupid to compare different eras with all the changes in the ball the gloves and the turf. How many fewer infield hits would Ted Williams have gotten during his .400 year if the fielders were using the much larger gloves of today? Probably would have hit .384.
So when do we get to hear about all the NFL players who attended and bet on these dogfights?
You could also mention that if the japanese had not attacked the US might not have participated in the war at all.
Why should we still listen to James Hansen after he was caught fudging his data for the hottest years on record? How come none of the thousands of top climate scientists bothered to check Hansen's numbers the errors were discovered by some so called crackpot denier in his basement? So much for peer reviewed science.
"So anyone claiming "wow, this is the hottest year on record" was not really making a meaningful statement to begin with."
Unless that person was James Hansen on 60 minutes using his data to make his case for global warming along with his predictions of super hurricanes in 2006. Its great that you use Hansen's own words that it is statistically insignificant except it pretty much obliterates the whole hockey stick conclusion for the 20th century. A less cynical person than myself might believe that it was just a software error and not a deliberate manipulation but I think Hansen stopped being a scientist some time ago and is now a zealot.
I also wouldn't call Steve Mcintyre a denier but most of the people he is critical of for their sloppy science would.
