[Read the article: How the press failed on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This is a joke. The press did not fail. the press has come through marvelously. Attacking Iraq has been a smashing success (literally and figuratively); it has accomplished precisely what was intended. Want to know what that is? Look at the results. Has anyone gotten richer? Has anyone become more powerful? Has the government gained more control over the populace? Does the populace have less legal recourse to reign in State abuses of power? If you think Iraq has been a mistake you probably think it's been about anything but domestic politics, in which case you're still living in the 20th century. For (at least) the past five years the press has been doing exactly what it is and has been intended to do: function as a propaganda organ for the State. The rest is irrelevant. Welcome to 21st Century America.

If it hasn't already been mentioned, is Obama's response, which was to repeat nearly the same pablum Mr. Kamiya decries. As has also no doubt been pointed out, Ron Paul talked about the same subject in the debates. I suppose the media was too busy ignoring him to focus on it much, though.

  • It's no slip, and here's what that means:

Wednesday and Thursday of this week Bush bootlicker/enabler Petraeus will testify before Congress about "progress" in Iraq. As recent developments have shown the facade of "stability" to be just that, Petraeus will change the report and blame Iran. He will announce that Iran is fighting a proxy war against the United States, claiming they arm, train, and support the Iraqi insurgency, and are the cause for the upsurge of violence of late. In so doing he will introduce and promote the lies that will be used later this year, say about October, to attack what they will call "military facilitities" Iran. The only question is whether or not it'll be nukes.

Knowing these asshats, of course it'll be nukes.

I hope you don't really think that getting rid of Bush is going to fix things. He's the symptom, not the disease.

True conservatives (that is, political vs social conservatives) believe that more government equals less liberty and higher taxes (in one form or another), and that foreign entanglements leave things untended at home; government is not a friend of the people but a dangerous power to be controlled, primarily by limiting its money supply. While Bush is ostensibly a conservative, he has proved the conservative's negative equation in spades. That's why he's really not a conservative.

  • that hair!

What is wrong with that woman's hair in the picture? Bless her tiny little heart! Did she have some kind of mishap? Did her hair stylist skip rehab? Looks like a retro 70's Monica-style Bill Clinton trap. Jeez. Another fashion victim, for sure. Hope it isn't contagious.

OK Glenn, I'll just hold my breath until Obama filibusters this atrocity...

and for all you "enlightened" supporters of this charlatan - do ya see the light now? or are you still in "He's just saying that to get elected" la-la land? (not that Clinton was any better, btw).

WAKE UP PEOPLE! THESES LIARS ARE PLAYING FOR KEEPS!

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOUR COUNTRY BEING STOLEN RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER YOU!!!

  • don't it make ya proud

all you Obama people? Are you still lookin' down yer noses at the rest of us? Are you happy now that you got exactly what any reasonable person would have expected? The same two-faced, backstabbing lying crap over and over every single election and still ya fall for it every single time like a stooge. And Clinton was worse... how?

Goodbye 4th Amendment, thanks to the lying, rotten, warmaking (check your history) Democrapic Party

  • Backstab Obama

[Read the article: Obama camp makes play to reframe national security debate]

LIke I would trust Backstab Obama about anything now. This guy's great with the smokescreen of words, but look at the action. Oh yeah, he's different -NOT! Talk about fighting the last war - he wants to make the military even LARGER. As though not enough armed brigades, rather than US foreign policy is the problem. Still listening to Clinton people no doubt. Now that's what I call a serious lack of imagination and seriously still locked in the 20th C. Thanks BACKSTAB! You sure are eager to get your hands on all that bloody power; oh, but of course, you'll gut the Contitution and use the power only for our own good... R-I-I-I-I-GHT...
