Original article: "30 Rock" strikes back

Meh

Big Fan, but not my favorite episode. (I did like the Season 4:Asian fusion joke) but otherwise nothing spectacular. It had a few giggle moments, but nothing that made me keel over laughing....

For example:

"You used Ghostbusters for evil!"

or

"Hugging... so ethnic"

or

"Business drunk is just like regular drunk, only you're allowed to drive"

Still, I"m glad they're back, and I'm expecting they'll hit their stride over the next few weeks.

SNL is bad

Does SNL make everything boring? It amazes me that they're still on the air. I guess ratings aren't an issue Sat at midnight...

Ride my bike everyday....

Wife needs the car for her work, so I bike. If I need to, I can buy groceries (I have saddlebags on the bike), but avoid it (unsafe bike street on the way to the grocer). Instead of putting money down on a car, I put it into a house with a better neighborhood.

Just got back from Amsterdam, and everyone bikes everywhere. To work, to the clubs to business lunches. I have never seen so many people wearing suits and formal dresses riding bikes. It was great, you just had to plan your trip accordingly.

Couldn't the guy get vasectomy?

From my understanding it is much easier for the guy to get vasectomy. It's even reversible. Although there is a pain syndrome that exists in a smaller portions (PVPS) that doesn't sound pleasent... but I would guess that is just as plausible in tube tying as well.

I hate to be mean but...

Isn't she patiently waiting for her husband to get out of prison... the husband that shot her, making this whole thing necessary in the first place?

I mean it's her prerogative and her life, but it give me a yucky feeling.

The post promises Succubi...

Where are my Succbi?????

Ok, seriously. Kids are confused. Kids have issues. Many kids pursue sex since it temporarily alleviates said issues. Addictive spiral is created. Addictive spiral hurts other people around them. Ta Da!

Why do these people have to make it so complicated?

This is a good start....

... after this, we got legislation on the boogeyman and preparations for the zombie menace. Just because it's not real, doesn't mean you shouldn't be prepared.

Wanting what you can't have....

There is definitely something to wanting what you can't have (or shouldn't want). And it plays everyone, men, women, straight, gay whatever. Especially when we're young and learning how to treat each other in relationships. High school (& college) students often treat someone who is needy (but otherwise a catch) with disdain while the uncatchable jerk leaves us wanting more. We're all trying to play the field a bit, and those who play nice often get nothing (at least in the short run).

This is nothing new to humanity, or anything caused by feminism. Though, feminism has allowed women to have different traits, hobbies desires. Or make their own demands from a relationship. There are no "rules" anymore, that's just the way it is.

And that makes dating complicated. Not because of feminism, but because there are so many different viewpoints on relationships. It's difficult on men, it's difficult on women. I'm glad I'm married.

Like movies with a political axe to grind....

.... they typically suck. Or books. Look at Ayn Rand. Look at "Lions for Lambs". The political overtones makes them unreadable (unwatchable). Meanwhile, if you have a good story, or a good thought process, you can really push buttons. See "million dollar baby" as a feminist movie that is clearly more complex than just a movie about feminism.

Video games, especially the best "movie-like" games, connect you to your characters in ways that have subtle effects on your viewpoints and emotions. Games like "dreamfall" do an excellent job of pushing feminist characters and going beyond a "feminist-centered" plot.

No "solid like Barack"?

I know the SNL song's intentionally annoying, but I've had it stuck in my head for a week. I'm definitely posting it on some conservative blogs.

I also strong recommend The Decemberists "Sons & Daughters"

When we arrive

Sons & daughters

We'll make our homes on the water

We'll build our walls aluminum

We'll fill our mouths with cinnamon now

These currents pull us 'cross the border

Steady your boats

Arms to shoulder

'till tides will pull

our hull aground

Making this cold harbour now home

Take up your arm

Sons and daughters

We will arise from the bunkers

By land, by sea, by dirigible

We'll leave our tracks untraceable now

Hear all the bombs fade away

Hear all the bombs fade away

Hear all the bombs fade away

Hear all the bombs fade away

Original article: John McCain, Internet dunce

This should be an Obama attack line...

The internet is the perfect attack line for Obama... most Americans understand (or understand the need for) fast internet. Especially the 'free market' economy, and companies (large & small). It's also a way of growing the economy that hasn't been discussed knowledgeably in years (daily show has a great piece on internet gambling 'tubes'). It also, brings up the age issue without bluntly stating it outright.

Obama has shown to be forward thinking in the use of campaign technology, it should also be his attack strategy.

Why would you invite Bernie Mac?

Chris Rock made a lot of similar jokes at a venue I saw recently. Why would you invite a comedian (any comedian) whose makes their job by laughing at uncomfortable situations? It's just a recipe for disaster.

Furthermore, the candidate is stuck in the position where they have to seem "nice" to the comedian even if they're horrified by what's said. It's just a recipe for disaster (a la whoopi in 2004).

Republicans simply avoid this problem by having no in roads with hollywood, which is probably safer.
