Are IED's now legal?

Why does everyone think the 2nd amendment has to do with pistols? It has to do with military style weapons for fighting in wars. Handguns are used in wars, butt he real heavy hitters are large bombs and rockets. Will the states now not be able to prevent the sales of high explosives? If individuals are allowed to have military weapons, then it is time for Wal Mart to start stocking C4.

If people say something as unamerican as "You can pass laws against people owning certain types of weapons" then the question becomes, why can states ban sales of C4 and not handguns, and who gets to decide? Scalia?

Big Brother won

The question boils down to freedom. I want freedom. I don’t want Big Brother monitoring my activities.

Well, Scalia just took your freedom to regulate deadly weapons in your community. Big Brother is looking into local laws made by local elected officials and saying "No, your community is wrong, only the federal government can make these decisions!"

Now, Scalia admits that insane people shouldn't have cluster bombs and high explosives, but he is not willing to let local elected officials decide what is right for the communities.

The 2nd Amendment is about militias, which are military organizations with military weapons. The old militias had canons and bombs, so the second amendment should allow for those as well.

This is about the federal government stepping on and taking away state and local rights.

Original article: Cracking Code Pink

Because of Salon and the Media

Where are the stories in Salon about less over-the-top anti-war groups? If someone or a group doesn't have something unusual about them you ignore them, as does everyone else. You just put Code Pink's name in your headline. Mission Accomplished. "Code Sensible" will have to wait for a different media climate.

Original article: Why Bush folded on Iran

Iranian missiles

Can't Iran reduce the Green Zone (as well as other US bases) to rubble in a few minutes with a missile barrage? Attacking Iran could prove to be an accidental exit strategy for Iraq. The smart people in the middle east build their bases underground. We sort of forgot to do that.

Another sign of US moral decay?

As the high-level training of small children in a sport that tosses them out at a very young age is borderline child abuse, perhaps the US getting good at girls gymnastics is a bad sign for the nation. I honestly prefer the Canadian model, they win no meaningless medals but they do have a good health care system.

Emails or bad votes?

Obama has been the subject of attacks and emails for a long time now, but his plunge in popularity started after his horrible FISA vote and gets worse every time he moves to the center. It is hard to be very excited about Obama these days.

For those who say that Obama's move to the center was some wise ploy to get votes that progressives are too narrow minded to understand, I have to point to him falling behind McCain as proof that moving to the center was a bad idea.

AIDS test for Bristol?

So, we know that Bristol was having unprotected sex. She should take an AIDS test immediately. If she had received real sex education this all could have been avoided. Abstinence only apparently doesn't work very well. Not only is she pregnant, but she could have other problems as well.

McCain a bit off message

So, the goal of the Republican convention is to convince America that McCain didn't just pick a really bad VP candidate? Who dreamed that one up? Watching the conservatives try to "rally" behind her is amusing, but also pretty pathetic.

I do have to say to the republican party- You are one of the two main political parties in this nation. You have a responsibility to put competent people on your ticket. You keep putting incompetent morons into positions of power, and it is dragging the US down the tubes. The dems have been running terrible campaigns, but Gore would never have invaded Iraq.

Original article: Sarah Palin, decider

She can't go before the press

Someone could ask her questions like:

Do you think the Earth is closer to 6000 or 4.5 billion years old?

Do you think that the Iraq war is God's will?

Are you in favor of banning birth control?

And similar questions.

Which form of creationism?

I want to see the Greek and Norse creation stories in science class. Both refer to a race of malevolent giants, scientists need to get to work figuring out where those giants are so we can Nuke them! I consider every word of the Norse creation story and myths to be absolute truth BTW.

Why the creation/evolution debate always revolves around the rather bland middle eastern creation stories is beyond me.

BTW, I like the global flood story in the original Babylonian setting with the Babylonian gods doing the flooding than the Jewish version. A bunch of gods acting at cross purposes always made more sense than a single god who keeps changing his mind.

Proper lies for Obama

As the American people love to be lied to, Obama should just go with it. He should start up a whisper campaign about McCain and Palin's insatiable hunger for the flesh of unbaptized babies. I am looking forward to a talking head asking McCain "Have you stopped eating babies?"

Reality vs. Denial

I wonder when reality will be too hard for voters to ignore. Apparently never. That McCain is even on the map is amazing. That he is ahead is proof that way too many Americans are not paying attention. I guess the people who voted for Bush haven't gotten more of a clue despite the beating they have taken for the past 8 years.

Original article: Obama comes out swinging

Poor Obabma, reality means nothing.

If this election were about the issues, McCain would be polling at 30%. Obama can't talk about "Regulatory Issues" and win, he needs to talk about how McCain strangles kittens for fun or some such thing. The McCain campaign has taken blatant dishonesty to a new level, and it is working like gangbusters.
