  • Great column

    [Read the article: Dithering Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This really gets to the heart of the matter, which is the Democrats just don't have the courage or the political saavy to challenge both the Bush Administration (go figure!) and the GOP. The Democrats could not have had a better chance, outside of a terrorist attack on American soil!

  • Bush's plan to stall

    [Read the article: Dithering Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Somebody else in this thread hit the nail on the head when they said a Democratic president will be elected in '08 and will be forced to pull the troops out, resulting in chaos for which the GOP will blame the Dems. Bush knows this war is lost (or at least is being lost), but he will try and stall the troop pullout until he is out of office to save what is left of his legacy. Meanwhile, American troops will continue to be sent to feed the meatgrinder.

  • Fear

[Read the article: When Democrats collapse]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The reason Dems apologive, back down, and/or stay silent about the crimes and incompetency of the Bush Administration and its enablers, the GOP, is the fact that they are deathly afraid of bieng targeted by the conservative smear machine. The same conservative smear machine that -- employing Rovian tactics -- branded John Kerry an efete war protestor who looks down on the troops (despite being a highly-decorated veteran, himself).

The Dems do not have that cutthroat, bloodthirsty, no-holds-barred mentality that the GOP and its conservative supporters possess. And they are afraid that if they "out" Bush for his incompetency, they will have their dirty laundry aired.

  • Too many candidates, not enough time

[Read the article: In New Hampshire, the Democrats play a little rougher]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I've watched both debates and have come away with the realization that there are too many candidates for this type of a format. It devolves into the mediator interrupting the candidate, like Wolf Blitzer routinely did.

I'll continue to watch, but I plan on getting to know the candidates through online sources.

  • Conservatives have no soul

[Read the article: Bush and Cheney walk, too]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Despite Bush figuratively flipping the Judicial branch and the American people (represented by the jury) the finger with this move, the neoconservative attack dogs and talking heads were out in full force yesterday bringing up Clinton and his pardons.

I think we need to remind them that Clinton and what the other 40+ presidents have done has nothing to do with this case. It's a red herring on the part of the Neocons who know they cannot defend what Bush has done, which is indirectly committing obstruction of justice.

We shouldn't be surprised. Bush has shown time and time again that he has no respect for the other branches of government, the rule of law or the opinion on the American people, who are against the commutation, according to the polls.

And the Dems will huff and puff but will refuse to blow Bush's house of cards down.

  • Disturbing

[Read the article: The new American way of death]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It truly disturbs me how sick young people like those who post of MyDeathSpace always hide behind the First Amendment, which somehow corrupts and cheapens what is our greatest freedom. Many of these losers will regret what they post, since MyDeathSpace is every bit as public as Myspace. Therefore, what they write may come back to haunt them when they grow up (if ever).

  • softdog defending the indefensible

    Get some damn perspective.

"It truly disturbs me how sick young people like those who post of MyDeathSpace always hide behind the First Amendment, which somehow corrupts and cheapens what is our greatest freedom."

I'm hoping this comment was meant as ironic, especially as it appears in an online forum full of psuedonyms and impulsive comments.

-->Yet no one here is defaming a dead kid, like your favorite site, MyDeathSpace.com.

Every scold in these letters needs some perspective

    -->You mean your perspective, right?

MyDeathSpace has an estimated 8,000 members, less .01 percent of the millions of people online. Of those, few post regularly and fewer still post disrespectful things. There are obscure fetish discussion boards which get as much traffic.

    -->Your point is?

There is NO unique crisis of sickness hiding behind the 1st amendment here. It's a discussion board about information which, again, is readily available to the public. Detached gossip about the deaths of strangers is longstanding, if unappealing, human trait.

-->You just don't get it do you?

What really "corrupts and cheapens" here is an overwrought story which tries to stir up moral panic about an obscure website and implies legal steps may be necessary.

-->What cheapens the First Amendment is pricks like you who believe it is acceptable to defame dead kids, attack their defenders (who include their parents) and then hide behind it.

  • Biology

[Read the article: Are men spoiled rotten?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm sorry, but this is just biology. Men find young women attractive, and young women can find both older and younger men attractive.

I also agree with the first poster in that women have their day in the sun when they are young and beautiful, which for most is in their late teens to early thirties. The dating and marriage scene for men, on the other hand, improves after age 35.

  • pathetic but predictable

[Read the article: Bush on Iran: I didn't know about halt to weapons program (but it doesn't matter)]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Bush's comments are pathetic, but I'm not surprised. This is a man-child who can not think of a single mistake he has made that he regrets and who does no type of self-reflection. He is, probably, the most intellectually incurious and stunted U.S. president in history.

It also doesn't help that he thinks being a strong leader means to be a bully with a one-track mind who never admits a mistake.

  • Tell him the truth

[Read the article: I'm afraid I'll be unfaithful to my husband]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think you stand to make a complete mess of things if you keep this a secret and then many years from now after you've had children you cheat on him and destroy the relationship.

Better you are upfront now and then he can make the decision to stay with you or leave you. If he stays, then good; if he leaves, then that is his choice and his right.

Maybe you just aren't the marrying kind. If that's the case, then be honest with yourself as too many women try and fool themselves and are not honest with themselves until they are older and have had numerous destructive relationships.
