You are altruistic and naive...

Am not a pessimist, but here's what will probably happen:

1) Obama takes oath and the first order he signs is closure of Gitmo. The world praises him

2) FOX's O'Reilly calls Obama a pinhead for supporting terrorists and FOX news airs "coverage" showing soccer moms and dads rushing to school to protect their children against terrorist landings.

3) Obama orders Gates to make a plan for pulling out of Iraq.

4) Fox news attacks Obama for defeatist mentality and saying Democrats are surrender monkeys. Bush goes on record and states Obama is undoing all the "good" Bush had done for Iraq. Texas passes a resolution calling for arrest of Obama if he ever enters the State.

5) Obama asks congress to pass a law giving the Treasury control of the Federal Reserve. Republicans filibuster the same, and Tube Stevens puts a "secret" hold on the bill.

6) Paulson and Cheney go to press and give a "detailed" factual check of how the loss of Fed would unleash terror attacks against the citizens and that Obama is planning to steal their social security. Half the phone-ins to the show support Cheney.

7) Obama announces a $1 Trillion bailout for poor homeowners who are neck-deep in debt and are bankrupt or almost bankrupt.

8) A congress critter silently inserts a clause into the bill redefining "poor" as someone with income not less than $1 Million a year. Obama signs it into law without knowing.

9) The country erupts into Chaos as FOX unleashes its blitz on this story and claims that Obama never had the "real" poor at heart. O'Reilly interviews two Joe Plumbers and one War veteran (on Pentagon Payroll) who state they earn less than $19,000 a year and Obama cheated them.

10) Congress launches an investigation into the law, and overwrites it with original wordings. 212 new amendments are introduced into it calling for allocation of 93% of the $1 Trillion to Farmers growing Corn, pigs, Birds, bananas, and Real Estate dealers earning less than $4 million a year.

11) Obama vetoes the law using line items

12) Rove files an appeal in SCOTUS against the line item veto, gets SCOTUS to override Obama. The law is passed, effectively paying the super-rich close to $930 Billion over 5 years in form of subsidies.

13) Obama proposes strict bank oversight and end to short sale or OBS assets.

14) Obama's Treasury secretary is caught with his pants down in a Hotel, and a scandal ensues. He claims he was drugged. Nobody believes him and he is fired. The regulation dies a silent death.

I agree with you that President Obama is very capable and much, much better than Cheney or Bush.

But the rest of the House is not.

ted Tube Stevens, Vince, etc., all represent the corrupt old timers.

One man alone cannot change everything even if he is the president.

Take Carter: He was the first president to do everything right, yet got thrown out by the Press & Military Industrial complex.

People's perceptions change.

Bush's ratings are very low. So whatever bad he does, we don;t care, since we know that's what he does so we let him off.

Obama, even if he slips a bit, we nail him. Not just we the voters, but the Neocon press, and the WHOLE press-industry-rightwing complex. Everyone from the Bostonian to the texan junkie will nail him. And not just because the press portrays him as such, but because he's not white.

Am bringing race into this, because he will continue to be called that way by the Southern idiots (i would be happy if the South secedes now).

Rahm is the IDEAL foil for Obama.

The guy who cracks the whip and makes sure people FEAR the president, not just love him.

He is the Karl Rove for Obama: with a club in his hand.

We need the good cop bad cop routine here to beat the Republicans into submission.

We can't have another Clinton-era with smooth talkers, begging republicans for votes, filibustering, impeaching jokes, etc.

We need someone to beat the damn Republicans into submission: either by threatening to "reveal" their pork or dark secrets or by beating them into submission by constant harassment.

Of course republicans will be angry at receiving the punishment they meted to meek democrats.

The only one to go is Pelosi. She is a wimp.

Hillary is the ideal candidate: The Republicans are afraid of her.

They fear only two people: Hillary and Rahm.

Together, these two will make Obama's dream come true.

They are the "enforcers" in Club Obama.

I look forward to the first fight Republians pick with Obama and watch them beaten into pulp by Rahm...Hell i will pay for tickets to watch the show.

Try to see if you can help your brother move away from current apartment to someplace else.

Refresh some old contacts, and help him out: with a new room and preferably a new job. He will forget the whole thing.
