You are wrong on so many counts that i can't quote them all.
First of all GOP did not get religion or did not stoop to serve the common man.
Its logic is pure and simple: The Big 3 make up most of the unionized workers remaining.
By forcing the UAW to accept permanent wage and other reductions they force the workers to become poorer. If the UAW refuses they let the Big 3 become bankrupt thus allowing them to be sold to Hedge funds or countries like Dubai or China which will force UAW to accept still lower wage and other work conditions.
Either way the GOP stands to benefit, since their base supporters: the ultra rich stand to benefit.
Plus you can add Cheney to it too, if labor troubles break out, since Cheney owns prison companies who stand to gain from any domestic violence.
If banks could be bailed out without any preconditions, why not auto companies?
And please don't blame the auto companies: they respond to market pressure.
The SUV and Hummers were not exactly Edsels. They were bought by millions of americans and made profits for GM and FORD.
After all you and me cheered when SUVs made profits for shareholders.
But when oil prices suddenly spiral up, we expect to retool everything in 3 days!
That's not possible.
That is why Japan could not build SUVs at that time. Because they didn't have necessary production facilities. Don;t you think they would have loved to make some profit off the SUV? They could not because they were not ready.
By the time they were ready, the market had changed.
Check on their balance sheets for massive investments during that time in factory tools.
And stop praising the GOP. They are bunch of scoundrels who are so corrupt that they would see soldiers being sold as mercenaries if that was legal and they would sell NASA to a Hedge fund if it was profitable.
GOP has always fought against America, and they will continue to fight against American ideals of hard work and decent wages, because it goes against their policy of exploitation and getting richer.
Unions are Thugs??
Hmmm i guess GM's CEO is a saint and the board is a group of altruistic professionals who tirelessly work 18 hours a day so that the company may meet and exceed customers expectations over and beyond the call of duty, while accepting the same wage as that of a low level auto worker and eating lunch in the same dingy cafeteria and flying to different plants on Coach class (the same class they insist that mid-level and low-level employees fly).
Ahhh... terkoy-karl-rove...you can't bear the loss of McCain and his Magnificent Seven and was hoping you would somehow win this election too and continue to screw the middle class out of their jobs, money and lives in the form of layoffs, pay cuts and higher medical insurance costs...
Tell me, when do you plan to stop?
After ALL your needs are satisfied or perhaps after ALL middle class is dead and buried?
When will your greed EVER end?
Well, if it was free flowing and infinite for Paulson's banks, then it is free for airlines and auto makers who employ far more middle-class people.
Iam going to enjoy taking apart your argument statement by statement.
The workers are overpaid and build products that of poor quality.
GM's CEO was paid $15.7 Million in 2007:
http://www.reuters.com/article/businessNews/idUSN2534738420080425
This amounts to 77 workers getting paid @ $70 to work for 360 days a year, 8 hours a day.
Ford CEO, the wonderful Mulally got paid $28 Million for FOUR months on job.
http://money.cnn.com/2007/04/05/news/companies/ford_execpay/
That amounts to $7 Million a month. Which amounts to paying 3300 workers @ $70 an hour every month.
And what did Mulally bring to FORD? $581 Million LOSS.
Unions keep poor performers on the line
Hmmmm. So what about the Board which keeps badly performing CEOs like Mulally on the line?
Unions have outlived there usefullness
CEOs have outlived their purpose, since all they bring nowadays is losses to their companies, while holding manufacturers and other industries hostage.
Unions are also cash cows for Democratic politicians.
CEOs are cash cows for Republicans. Since 1990, auto makers have donated over $150 Million to Republicans. http://articles.latimes.com/2008/12/12/news/fi-gopcars12
And you know what's funny? For the money they paid Republicans, GM, FORD and Chrysler could not even get their bailout passed!! Talk about throwing away money! If they had paid that money to their workers, they would have got a better performing work force...
You obviously are from the South.
Why the heck we still have you morons in the United States, i can never understand!
We should cut you bozos off, and then when we have a sudden urge to invade any country, we can always invade Texas!!!
