The country is anyway screwed

The country is anyway screwed beyond repair, as corporates have fully taken control.

With election costs beyond the reach of common man, senators and congressmen are forced to take money from large corporates.

Its a never ending cycle, and it does not matter which party is in power.

It takes a courageous president steps up and forces congress to rewrite campaign funding law and limits bans any campaign funds of any kind. Next step would be taking $5 from each tax return filed and distribute that money equally to prospective candidates who want to run.

This will make honest senators to be elected.

But then, when corruption has reached beyond normal levels, then such an change is beyond the thinking.

Democrats should solidly support Spitzer now

To avoid being browbeaten by republicans, the democrats should close ranks and support Spitzer now.

They need to play the same game republicans play when one of them is attacked.

Already the mouthpiece of republicans, Fox News, is falsely portraying as if Spitzer offered to resign.

The following should be the action plan of dems:

1. Refuse to comment anything about Spitzer instead saying "no comment" to any comment by anyone.

2. Go on offensive against republicans, and mention how many corrupt republicans spitzer has caught and convicted.

3. Refuse to acknowledge either in house or senate about spitzer's wrong-doing, act indignant if accused by republicans, and walkout of the senate and congress if forced to pass a resolution.

4. Go straight for the jugular: Bush, stating his broken promises, record inflation and lack of intelligence in even gasoline prices which are hurting the economy.

5. Divert attention from Spitzer by playing Zone Defense. Move press away from spitzer by concentrating on gasoline prices and how to tax Big Oil.

Short answer: Never. Why?: We have been conditioned to believe in our righteousness

War crimes committed by us would never be revealed if they impact high-level officials or politicians too much.

Isolated cases like the pregnant soldier would result in isolated indictions, but when it comes to indicting the top brass, the answer would be never.

The reason is, after vietnam war, the press and the presidents have made sure that we go on a path where we believe the ends justify the means.

Take for instance the narrow of a terrorist according to US laws: Anyone who threatens the lives or properties of any US citizen!

Does that mean non-US citizens are not humans? Why does Hitler's classification of Untermenchen and Unbermenchen come into picture?

As long as US schools teach children that all humans in the world are equal and the press starts reporting crimes committed in war, this will be the situation.

Senile old man

McCain is a senile old man who cannot even run to a bunker in an emergency.

Age limits should be applicable to those running for public office too, and candidates as old as McCain should be banned from running for office on the same rules they set for public servants and government officials.

If this back;ash results in Hillary win, then we are fools

One woman says the faraway kinda look in Obama supporters scare her.

Well, has she seen any republican lately?

How zealous they are supporting their candidate?

If fanatic support by boys results in womens' votes for Hillary, then it shows our stupidity and inability to look into real matters and instead perceive feminism as a sole way to oppose men.

Probably voting for McCain and another war would atleast be better.

Make cheney and bush cut the coupons

In eight years we have gone from having a Surplus Budget & Strong dollar (and low local prices) to the weakest currency (with high local prices).

If a gallon of milk has moved up $1.69 to $4.39 today the blame should squarely fall on our foolish economist president who thought having a war AND cutting taxes for the rich is good for the economy as a whole.

And to reduce the bloating defecit he cuts funding for low cost housing, increasing taxes for mom-and-pop stores, while still reducing taxes for those with $200,000 incomes.

I wish the new coming president orders Bush & Cheney [via executive privilege that Bush so loves] to cut coupons for a month for a poor family, peel potatoes for them, and eat the sorry KBR food that troops are forced to eat. Oh, and make them work in the "safe" green-zone of Baghdad for a month.

The executive privilege orders cannot be challenged in court, since that is what bush has claimed so long, and we get to see our ex-presidents work for a living just like most of us do.

I would sell tickets to watch them work hard peeling potatoes and sorting beans.

Response to tomreedtoon letter

What you are saying is terrifying. What makes it more terrifying is that it could come true.

With obama out of the way, Hillary could easily project herself as "carrying out" obama's vision, as a torch bearer for him, who had loved obama from the start, etc.

Her opponent McCain was delibrately chosen to lose, since he spouts quite often about war, etc.

Emotions rule high, hillary gets elected as per the original plan of the elite and nothing changes: EVER.

Hillary will go onto say we need to beat down AlQaeda in Iraq, withdraw a few token reserve divisions, and send more trained visions to replace them.

The Fed bails out a few more banks, while houseowners continue to lose their homes due to no fault of theirs.

And Obama's vision goes into smoke...
