  • as PUMA-bait, this post was pretty effective

    [Read the article: Sayonara, superdelegates]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Another chance to whine about how "unfair" caucuses are (even though they worked perfectly well when Bill was winning them in the '90's, yes?).

The Democratic Party nomination system is the closest thing we have to representative democracy. Imagine...the delegates are actually awarded proportionally, so that the 49% of voters on the wrong end of the results actually still have a voice! The concept of "superdelegates" though is truly bizarre and should be sh#canned.

  • "40 person whip team"? This has great potential

[Read the article: Clinton team will shut down protests]

I'm getting a vision of Harriet Christian, prone on the convention floor restrained and struggling under 4-5 "whip-teamers", screaming "don't tase me bro!!!!" LOL

  • it took 12 posts to flush out a PUMA dead-ender

2 months ago it would have been 6 posts in, tops. Alas, the quality & quantity of PUMA's, the PUMA-naciousness if you will, on Salon is a state of marked decline.

  • Geeezus H Christ! some of you are completely missing the point

    [Read the article: Hammering homeboy]

Try to keep up.....No one cares whether McSame is rich....the point is that it's the pot calling the kettle....oh never mind...

  • PUMAs are chickensh# Republicans that won't admit to being Republicans

[Read the article: How Obama can be the un-Kerry in Denver]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

What else can logically explain their irrational hatred of the Democratic nominee and unquestioning support of the Republican nominee? It is really as simple as that.

The other fact that proves that PUMA is nothing more than a farce dreamed up by a cabal of naughty, underemployed Republicans is the fact that their leader Will Bower promised that a minimum of $6 million was being raised in July to help Hillary pay off her debts. Well that promised $6 million ended up being more like $80,000. So much for PUMAs being Democrats.

  • Yeah I know the election needs to be upbeat & positive & issue-oriented and all that jazz

[Read the article: McCain camp strikes back on houses issue]

but we are dealing with McNasty and the Bush election team. A real bunch of kneecappers. They need to be punched in the mouth repeatedly with every ugly piece of info there is about McNasty (and the list is long). Unfortunately the gloves will have to stay on the floor and it will have to go way negative this time...there is too much at stake...we cannot afford McSame.

  • You vote for a Republican candidate in an election this big

[Read the article: How Obama can be the un-Kerry in Denver]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That makes you a Republican. Regardless of what your piece of paper says, your actions define who you are. Just like if you waddle and quack and have a bill on your face you are a duck. Why is that so hard to understand?

  • 1000 words of nonsense by zen

[Read the article: How Obama can be the un-Kerry in Denver]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"I'm a since 1968 Democrat, Dukakis, Stevenson, blah blah blah" you know the one thing that gives you up, Republican? No one but a Republican refers to it as the "Democrat" Party.

    It is "Democratic" Party, Republican.

  • Well, it is a free country after all

[Read the article: McCain ad features former Clinton delegate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

which means people are free to be as petty, ignorant and childish as they want to be.

Once again, in an election this big, just because you say you USED to vote Democratic doesn't make you a Democrat. If you vote for the Republican nominee, that makes you a former Democrat turned Republican. Or a liar that has voted Republican all along.

If you have any integrity and sense whatsoever, you understand that what you are voting for is a philosophy of governance, irregardless of all the BS about being a "maverick."

  • The bitterness? You’re soaking in it!

Just stopped in to check out the reax from the Salonistas….and SURPRISE! The usual suspects are in here, nursing the same months-old grudges and keeping the axes sharpened to a fine edge. Oh, that bubbling, seething, rage just under the surface must feel soooooo good!

I hate to break it to you, but it is not the job of those who supported Obama to go around and gently stroke everyone with hurt feelings and beg for them to vote for Obama. Really, it is not even Obama’s job to do that. After all, we are all grown-ups, no?

Spending months going to primary battlegrounds and kissing ass does not constitute a good use of a candidate’s resources and does not reflect well on a potential leader of the free world. It is, however, incumbent upon you as an American voter to assess your values and your philosophy of governance and apply those views CONSISTENTLY to who you will vote for in an election this big.

Even President Bill, the old triangulating warrior, on his definite ‘A’ game last night (the best political speech I’ve ever witnessed) has gotten over it, even acknowledging the full-contact nature of the game with the “we generated a lot of heat” comment, referring to the primary battle. Billy laid it out as succinctly as I have heard it, and to summarize not so gently: whatever your grievances about the primary season, it is TOTALLY unacceptable to act out by either (1) voting for McCain, or (2) sitting out. He is channeling that disappointment and anger from the primary battles in a constructive manner properly befitting a former President and active statesman. Maybe some of you could use him as an example.

  • PLEEEEZ let it be Lieberman!!

[Read the article: Report: McCain's veep choice to be notified today]

I won't ever beg for anything again!

  • "Help me want to vote for Obama"???? WTF?

[Read the article: Bill Clinton shows -- and gets -- the love]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Be a grown-up about it, already. The whining is absolutely nauseating, and quite frankly Hillary would be ashamed if she saw some of the crap her "supporters" spew forth. Here's an idea: stop thinking with your uterus & try thinking with your brain. The frontal cortex part, not the limbic part.

  • AKA I'm sorry if this is too direct for you and the aggrieved

[Read the article: Bill Clinton shows -- and gets -- the love]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

but voting for a candidate has nothing to do with begging someone for a vote. Don't you see? Acacia has already made up her mind; all she wants is an ass-kissing contest with her as the judge.

This is really, really simple. Look at the candidates. Listen to their positions on the ISSUES. Study their websites, listen to their speeches, examine their legislative records. Compare that body of evidence against YOUR belief and value system. If it aligns with McCain, then vote for McCain. If it aligns with Obama, vote for Obama. See? Simple as that, really.

But......be a grown-up. Don't run around, aggrieved and pissed, wailing for someone to kiss your ass and beg for your vote. I wouldn't ask that of anyone else, and sure as hell won't do that to someone else.

  • Klytus, is AKA were representative of every citizen voter

then every minute of our day would apparently be consumed by keeping score, nursing grudges, and lashing out viscerally at every wrong, whether real or perceived.

Now most citizens don't conduct daily business like that, do they?
