I'll say this, HRC supporters on Salon letters are damn good contortion artists
[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Especially that psych case "ProudTexasGirl." Please understand that whomever is behind that unfortunate handle does not come close to representing "Texas."
The facts are thus, HRC supporters: She cannot win the nomination without upwards of 85% of the remaining pledged delegates. She is hopelessly behind in popular vote, as there are no more of those most cherished of HRC prizes left: "Big States." Superdelegates are breaking for Obama, day after day (including former DNC chairmen once pledged to HRC). Once primary season is finished, it is likely that Obama will only need around 100 of whatever unpledged Superdelegates remain (which would be less than 50% of the unpledged Super-D's).
Oh, and MI & FL will be addressed. Just not in the way that HRC will like. It will be something along the lines of a 50-50 split, which would have been the likely outcome anyway if those primaries would have been conducted correctly, with the candidates having all-out campaigns and following the rules (see: HRC on MI ballot, unopposed).
At this point, all she can do is stage a 1930's-style German beer-hall putsch for already-pledged elected delegates to Obama. And make a convoluted argument for "electability," which hardly anyone is buying.
In other words, she is toast. Done. The math is is stacked so high that even brass-balled HRC cannot overcome. And no amount of vitriolic screeds against Obama, his former pastor, his voting blocs, or anything else will change that fact.

On second thought, "ProudTexasGirl" might be a plant
[Read the article: How Hillary Clinton botched the black vote]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No one can be that raging ignorant and inflammatory and possibly think that is actually helping "their" candidate.
Although I am an Obamaton, is it possible that these aggressively bitter pro-HRC posters are actually planted here by her opposition? I mean, what is a better way than that to turn people off?
-
you HRC supporters really think your price/gallon will go down if there's a "gas tax holiday?"
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton throws economists off the bus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Wake up & smell the bacon! You'll be paying the same at the pump, guaranteed. There will just be more $$ between you & the well that someone else will pocket.

"ProudTexasGirl" please create a new handle
[Read the article: Was Hillary channeling George Wallace?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and leave "Texas" out of it next time, lest everyone think that "Texas" equates to "inflammatory troll out of control on Salon letters."

If Obama helps her retire her campaign debt
[Read the article: Clinton faces deadline for loan repayment]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]then he will effectively have partially underwritten the smear campaign against him. Interesting.

Not to worry, King
[Read the article: Predicting the present]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The SpursHaters® will resurface again, just like they do every year.
Geez, you’d think that the Spurs were the NBA’s version of the Yankees, something that I wouldn’t even try to claim.

It was said before & bears repeating
[Read the article: Hillary enters death-with-dignity phase]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]KateTex
ProudTexasGirl
ShawnWM
The above are trolls coming in from the far right to agitate, divide & conquer. Do not engage or otherwise feed these trolls; they are not interested in rational discourse.

Nice pointed rant
[Read the article: The peak oil culture wars]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I still can't believe Krugman is unapologetic about being on the Hillary bandwagon after that nasty gas-tax pander she pulled out of her ass. If he is worried about his peak-oil bonafides he would have disowned her just over that.
-
a little tough love
[Read the article: Clinton supporters push back against NARAL endorsement]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You HRC supporters need to wake up & smell the bacon. She will not win the nomination. Barack Obama will. He will be the Democratic nominee with a progressive platform (including, but not limited to, 'reproductive rights') running against The Republican nominee with a regressive platform (including, but not limited to, restricting 'reproductive rights.)
Now, if you are OK with setting back the clock on, among other things, feminist issues with President McCain, please by all means go vote for him. It is a free country.
But if you are truly concerned with continued gains in feminist issues, along with just about any other progressive issue that you care about, it is time to get behind the person that will be the Democratic nominee.
It really is as simple as that.

an added bonus of this Senate action
[Read the article: A Strategic Petroleum Reserve flip-flop]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]is the opportunity to hand Bush his ass in a veto override on a energy-related issue. The quicker we stuff this charlatan down into irrelevance, the better.

noooo, please don't send Dick Cheney to an undisclosed location during the campaign
[Read the article: Mississippi turning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]send him out on the campaign trail! Anywhere there is a tight race, please send him there to speak on the GOP candidate's behalf. Early and often. If the GOP candidate tries to refuse, have Dick smack him around, and then go out and speak. Just keep Dick campaigning!

[Read the article: Mississippi turning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]for what its worth, "conservative Democrat" is not the oxymoron some might think....here in TX it is called "Yellow Dog Democrat" and they have been around forever. And the Yellow Dogs get along just fine with the more liberal members of the party just fine, thank you!

eeeek, forgive the repeated phrases...must proofread

Yes Kathleen Parker's columns are breathtaking
[Read the article: High standards at the Washington Post Op-Ed page]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I guess she is the slightly more restrained of the Coulter twins. Now the Post needs to balance that out with Ted Rall.
By the way, is it "GoodCelery!" or "GoodLSD!"? Just wondering.

say what you will, hate all you want
[Read the article: Moment comes, Spurs rise to it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]but the Spurs are stone-cold assassins. Hard as nails. Game 7 gut-wrenching win against an athletic offensive machine like the Hornets, in their gym? Spurs keep this up & I don't see the Lakers breaking through, WES' theory notwithstanding.

Is anyone really bitching about a lousy $15?
[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hell, make it $50 for the 1st bag, $100 for the 2nd. $25 for the hot towels and $40 for the meals in 1st class. Maybe if these fees became more than a minor pain in the ass, we would see multiple benefits.....less air travel overall combined with higher profit margins for the operations that do survive.
This industry is a dinosaur, folks. How many ginormous airport mini-metroplexes do we really need? Air travel on this massive a scale is unsustainable, and something will definitely have to give, sooner or later.
-
Hell I am thoroughly disgusted with Hillary after her shameful primary season performance
[Read the article: The fight over Florida and Michigan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and I would still vote for her over McBomb in the fall, even if she managed to somehow jack the nomination. (I would have to curl up in the shower for a couple of hours afterwards).
However, I think that these are rightwing trolls posting in here....no one is stupid enough to cut off their nose to spite their face....are they?

Geraldine Ferraro can go to hell
[Read the article: The other 18 million]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the rest of the essay is laudable, if one remembers that it is the POV of a Clintonite.

Laura25
[Read the article: Democrats, put down your swords]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Then by all means go vote for McCain & dutifully await for him to undermine any and every progressive ideal you might cherish, including "reproductive rights". I, for one, could give a shit less if he succeeds in doing away with abortion rights as I won't be seeking one anytime soon.
-
is, if....no difference
[Read the article: Obama's vetting problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]still a weak comment
