The American president is the president of everyone, and must set a tone of cooperation, even in the face of opposition.
-- youngservative
I've read a lot of nonsense from righties over the years. I've become adjusted to their fact-free opinions and judgements. But for someone to actually write the above statement, just blows me away. WHAT PLANET HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING ON BUDDY? Obama has bent over backwards trying to be bipartisan. Trying to get republicans in Congress to work with him. Obama has set a tone of cooperation from day fucking one. It's the damn republicans that have rebuffed him at every turn.
On a related note, there is no Obama war on Fox. I'm so tired of the media characterizing everything as a war. Obama criticized them and that's it. He called them out for what they are, a partisan propaganda outfit. That mainstream media reporters are acting like Obama has morphed into Nixon, is absurd. Nixon sicked the IRS on people. Had the FBI intimidate and threaten news organizations. Obama has done none of that.
Talk about unAmerican, trying to shut up a news organization and using intimidation to warn the other networks that they too will be shut out and attacked if they go the way of FOX or start reporting on the news that FOX reports: Onthebeat
When did Obama or anyone in his administration do what you are accusing them? Provide the evidence that Obama officials are trying to shut down Fox. Provide the evidence Obama officials threatened other networks not to report what Fox reports. I know you can't do it because they didn't. Two Obama officials said that Fox wasn't a news organization, that they have an agenda. That's all they said and nothing more. They also didn't say that Fox would be frozen out, instead they said the opposite. They said that Obama and others would still continue to go on Fox, but they know who they are dealing with when they do that. Your post is so fact-free and completely wrong, you should be embarassed.
So your evidence OTB is that David Axelrod said Fox isn't a news organization and you shouldn't treat them as one. From that you take it Obama is trying to shut down Fox and anyone that agrees with them. I think you forgot to take your meds today. Well until you do get back on your meds, I won't be wasting anymore of my time on you. It's impossible to have a reasoned discourse with someone that is irrational.
Larryjack thinks that if Obama freezes out Fox, then Fox's free speech rights are being threatened. I think larry needs to go reread the constitution. Fox has the right to say anything they want, but Obama is under no obligation to give them interviews. There's no section in the constitution that says the President has to talk to every person claiming to be reporter. Bush froze out the NY Times, NBC and MSNBC during his term. The righties had no problem with any of that. There's was no worry about "freedom of the press" when Bush was doing it. It's only when Obama does it, then it becomes wrong and threatening to our democracy. I for one salute Obama for freezing out Fox. Fox is not a news organization and should not be blessed with the honor of interviewing the President. If it was ok under Bush then it's ok under Obama. You righties don't get to have it both ways.
And by the way, get you facts right. The Bush administration didn't blackball anyone.-- OnTheBeat
Before you tell others to get their facts straight, you need get your facts straight first. The Bush admin did indeed blackball reporters. They froze out the New York Times their entire term. They were not granted one interview with Bush. They froze out NBC and MSNBC because they didn't like the way they were reporting on Iraq. Dana Perino (former Bush press secretary) admitted that on Fox News a few days ago. You didn't have a problem when Bush did it, but now you have a problem when Obama does it? You are a hypocrit.
I have no problems with the mainstream media being critical of Obama or any other administration. What is driving me insane is that after 8 years of cowing to Bush, they are now coming to the defense of Fox news. They sat back and did nothing while Bush denied access to the New York Times, NBC and others. Yet Obama denies access to Fox, and suddenly the rest of the "liberal" media finds their backbones (which had gone missing for the past 8 years). It's enough to drive a man insane. I hope this will debunk the myth of the liberal media forever. It was the "liberal" media that cowed before Bush but stood up to Obama.
I'm not surprised in the slightest at this betrayal by Lieberman. If it wasn't him, it would of been Nelson or Lincoln. I'm so glad Obama made sure Reid didn't strip Lieberman of his chairmanship and seniority. How'd that work out 11 dimension chess player? Did playing nice get you what you wanted? Fuck Obama. The public option Reid proposed was so watered down. It would of served like 4% of the American population. Yet that was too much for our greedy insurance companies. I'm sure the campaign contributions they made to Lieberman have paid off in spades. Man I really hate this country. If I had the money, I'd move to Canada or some civilized nation. One that isn't ruled by GREED. One that actually practices Christian values, not just claiming to be a christian nation.
