Muslims are as American as the rest of us, Calamine the Bigot. If you are born here, that makes you an American. You tipped your hand by saying blacks were more American the muslims. You exposed yourself as the bigot you are. I won't be wasting anymore of my time, responding to an irrational prejudiced BIGOT.
Lincoln's biggest mistake was in not allowing the southern states to seceed. If he had done that, the rest of us would be so much better off. We could get universal single-payer passed without the Southern republicans (actual ones and blue dogs alike) being able to filibuster it. It's the south that has kept this country back for years. Without those neanderthal knuckle dragging cousin marrying southerners, we could be a great progressive country.
If the southern states want to opt out of the public option, let them. It's ironic that the states that are most in need of universal health care, are the southern states. Yet if those dumb ass southerners don't know what's in their own best interest, it's far from me or anyone else to try to save them from themselves. FUCK EM LET EM DIE. If you can't advocate for your own best interests, you get you what deserve. My opinion is many southerners would like universal heatlh care. The reason they oppose it is because some of "those people" might also benefit. You know who "those people" don't you? Hint they have dark skin.
This the standard response from almost every rightie you ever encounter. Instead of actually responding to what Joe Conason wrote, that illegal immigrants that are here have an impact on everyone's public heatlh. So therefor they should get access to healthcare so they don't affect the rest of us. He just makes up a lot of hypothetic absurd nonsense. It's just childishness. It's why it's impossible to have an intelligent reasoned debate in this country. One side is an adult and the other is immature. Just once I'd like to read a reasoned argument by a conservative. One that actually responds to what someone wrote, and not makes shit up trying to change the subject. I think I have a better chance of finding a unicorn then that ever happening.
Yes illegal immigrants are here illegally. No they shouldn't be in the country. But they are here and we have to deal with that. So saying we shouldn't provide them health care when they get sick, because they shouldn't be here in the first place, is beside the point. They are here whether you like it or not. When they contract the flu and spread it to others, they affect all of us. Viruses don't ask if you are here legally or not. No one is saying we should provide them with free health care. Let them buy into a public insurance plan. Tax employers who hire illegal immigrants. But just saying they shouldn't be here so don't do anything, isn't going to solve the public health problem. It's just a way of sticking your head in the sand.
I applaud Obama and Eric Holder for respecting state medical marijuana laws. In Colorado, we have had dozens of dispensaries open since Obama was elected. What will the next presidential administration do? If some "Law and Order" republican is elected, then they will probably let the DEA of the leash to go after the dispensaries again. We need a federal law that prohibits the DEA from arresting medical marijuana users and dispensers. My hope is that medical marijuana becomes so noncontroversial during Obama's term, that Americans will not accept a return to way things were under Bush. However we can't count on that to happen. We need a federal law to ensure it doesn't happen. Now is the time for Obama to press for this. While we still have large majorities in both the House and Senate.
It is politically risky for Obama to be doing this. There is no advantage to it politically, because he risks being accused of being "soft on drugs". Which to politicians is like being called a pedophile. I do disagree with Glenn though because I believe there is a constituency for this. Polls show large margins of Americans support medical marijuana. It's why it's won in almost every state where it's been on the ballot.
I wonder how many of those Americans that support invading Iran, are actually in the military. I'm guessing not many. It's easy to advocate others go fight and die for wars you "support", while you refuse to fight them yourselves. I can't believe how blood thirsty a sizable portion of Americans are. I also wonder how many of those same Americans would be so cavaliar about waging war, if they actually saw the results of it. Our media purposely keeps images of those on the receiving end of our bombs from ever appearing on tv. We get the far away images of bombs exploding, but we don't see the close up shots. We don't see the gallons of blood and limbs scattered everywhere. Too many Americans think war is a video game with no real casualties. If we ever want to become a nation that uses war as a last resort, instead of the only option. Our citizens need to see the end result of what are bombs produce.
Oh I get something stinks now, he says he is just calling out both sides. Well from my experience stinky, you are just like a right-wing troll. You never make any arguments, you just engage in name calling. I (and most others) just skip over your waste of time comments. Go ahead and attack me, I know you will. It's what you do whenever any one calls you on your shit. I can't wait for it. I won't be responding though because you are a waste of my time.
