typical rightie

Maybe we could start by getting rid of the propaganda that says all law enforcement is racism, and quit calling the police pigs?-- Cauthon

Who says all law enforcement is racist? No one says that, it's just the typical rightie tactic of trying to stifle debate. Instead of responding to what people actually say, that some police officers are racist and target minorities. They make blanket statements, liberals say all police officers are racist. So instead of actually debating the real issue, how do we get rid of racist police officers. We instead wind of up having to debunk their lies and generalizations. They do this with everything. Nancy Pelosi said those who shout down people at town halls are unamerican, not those who disagree with Obama's plan. The right makes it into "Pelosi says dissent is unamerican." It's why it's impossible to have political discourse in this country, because the right doesn't want political discourse to happen. They are intent on stopping the debate at all costs. They know if Americans were subjected to an intelligent debate on health care, the right would lose. They already are, according to the polls the majority of Americans want the public option. We want our broken health care system fixed. So the righties stand up and scream, knowing the media covers those who yell loudest.

too tired to be angry

Man I'm getting to the point I am too tired to be angry. This Time article just takes the cake though. God forbid they point out the lies about the crowd size by the right. The funniest claim was by Beck on Fox and Friends. He said "a university that he couldn't remember estimated the crowd at 1.7 million". How convenient that he couldn't remember the university. LOL This is why our political discourse is so FUCKED UP. It's because of crap like this from Time Magazine. There are such things as FACTS. That Time Magazine couldn't say one side was lying, shows that journalism is dead there. I'm so glad I no logner subscribe to that piece of shit magazine. I encourage anyone with a subscription to cancel it.

@Jeanette

You are absolutely correct, FACTS DON'T MATTER TO THESE PEOPLE. It's belief. Frank Schaeffer was on Rachel Maddow last night. Make sure to go watch the segment because it's very insightful. Frank was a former leader of the religious right, his dad helped found the movement. He grew up in a fundamentalist evangelical home, so he knows these people. He said exactly what you have said, facts are irrevelant to them. They operate on belief. What I liked most about what he said was this. "You don't rearrange the village to suit the village idiot." We have to move past these people and stop letting them control the debate. Let them go do their thing, isolate themselves from society. Wait for the Jesus to return. We are moving on without them. No longer will we allow progress to be stopped because of these fundamentalist morons.

@Tommy777

Blow it out your ass troll. Did anyone say that these people didn't have a right to protest? Didn't anyone say that dissent is treasonous here? NO you just make shit up. SO FUCK YOU ASS BOY.

All part of the distraction

Of course the right is demonizing ACORN because it's all part of the distraction. Get the poor fools looking everywhere but where the real problem lies. ACORN has a special place in the righties heart of hate, because they registered black people to vote. The right knows that when minorities vote, they lose. I watched a good documentary on Ralph Nader called "An Unreasonable Man". When he ran for president in 2004, Nader met up with Jesse Jackson. Jackson said how he had approached the Kerry campaign, encouraging them to focus voter registration on the 9 million unregisterd black voters. Kerry wasn't interested. If Kerry had done it, which Obama did do in 2008, Kerry would of won easily. What's sad and disappointing is how quickly the dems threw ACORN under the bus. Only 7 senators voted to defend them. Say what you want about the right, they atleast stand up for their friends. Too bad the dems don't.

@Scot-to

ACORN is not corrupt. I saw those videos too. A total of 3 or 4 people fell for those tricksters. Not a very representative sampling of an organization with thousands of employees. ACORN fired them immediately. To say that those low-level employees are indicative of the entire organization is just retarded. Now if it had been the CEO of ACORN that was caught on camera, that would be another matter. But it wasn't. Get some perspective please.

angry making

Reading through this comment thread, not only here but at other sites, makes me angry. Why? Because it's impossible to have a reasonable rational debate with righties. I don't believe that righties are evil. I just think they are idiots. Now that may seem harsh but it's true. I say this because they always make the most idiotic comments. If they respond to something you write, they deliberately over-simplify your argument. Then they respond to their oversimplification, not to what you actually said. Take President Carter saying some of the criticism of Obama has been due to racism. Carter never said that anyone that criticizes Obama is a racist. But that's what Limbaugh and Fox News crowd started chanting. It's like trying to have an argument with a two year old. ITS A WASTE OF FUCKING TIME. I agree with Frank Schaeffer when he said we have to move past these people. We can no longer allow them to stop progress. We are going to drag you childish righties into the future whether you like it or not. We won the election, we call the shots. Don't like it, TOUGH!!
