Anyone seen "Eagle Eye"?

Has anyone seen the movie "Eagle Eye"? It's a pretty good action flick starring Shia Lebouf. Spoiler alert for those that haven't seen it. The premise of the film is that the Pentagon has a computer that monitors every computer network in the country. The computer program decides to eliminate the leadership of the gov't (prez, vp, sec's of state etc) because they have become threatening to the constitution. The gov't has become tyrannical and the program takes it upon itself to replace the leadership. Now obviously I'm not calling for the elimination of our gov't leaders. Yet I couldn't help but think that the computer had the right idea. Our system of gov't has become tyrannical. They blatantly violate our laws and make no apologies about it. As the election of Obama has proved, it's irrelevant who ever is the head of the gov't. It's the whole damn system that is corrupt and a threat to our liberties. It's becoming increasingly clear that we need a full-scale revolution in this country. Paraphrasing our founding Fathers, when a system of gov't becomes tyrannical it is the duty of the citizens to demoish it and create a new one.

I said my paper folks

I said it was buried in my paper, The Denver Post. Also I get two papers the other is the Greeley Tribune. Wasn't carried at all in that one. While the NY Times is an influential paper, the majority of the country neither reads or subscribes to it. So it's good it was on the front page, it's also irrelevant. I get so tired of the fucking game of gotcha that goes on constantly here. I can see if someone makes a major error and it needs to be corrected. But some of you people are so nit picky, it's not even funny. Get a life.

@omoex

If you think this story is going to still be in the news come Monday, your kidding yourself. BTW FUCK OFF!!!

That's rich omooex

I don't know where you are coming from when you write complete nonsense like, Bernbart owning me in an argument. I've only had one argument with bernbart and that was over Osama being linked to 9/11. I was right, the FBI has publicly they have no hard evidence linking Osama to 9/11. I even provided a link proving my claims. So what are you talking about? Maybe you need to learn read better bud. Otherwise you're just making me laugh.

my larger point

Since it's my post started such a controversy, I think many people are missing my larger point. Yes it's on the front page of the NY Times, I never claimed it wasn't. I said it was buried in my local paper. My larger point is that this story will have no shelf-life. It's going to be completely forgotten by Monday. The news cycle will have moved on. The only thing that will keep it in the news, is if Congress decides to investigate. I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Isn't that nice?

So Eric Holder is "leaning towards" investigating the Bush torture program. So in other words he's thinking about doing the fucking job he was appointed to do. He isn't quite there yet, but he may or may not get there eventually. Isn't that nice? I'm with Glenn, I'll believe it when it happens. I've had it up to here with fucking pussy footing around Obama administration. They are nothing but a bunch of spineless wimps. Obama is proof positive that children, especially boys, need a male figure in their lives. Maybe if his dad had been around when he grew up, he'd actually now how to be a man. Instead of constantly seeking validation from others as Obama does. He'd be able to make a decision, without worrying what his critics might say about it. As much as I disliked Bush, he never had a problem making a decision and sticking to it. Too bad Obama isn't a little more like Bush in that regard.

Depressive realism

I think adnoto is not so much a pessimist as a depressive realist. While he was wrong in saying that they will never be any investigations. There's always the possibility, however small, of that happening. But if one was a Vegas bookmaker, the odds would on the sidea of no investigations and prosecutions. Considering the track record of the Obama administration so far, I can't fault him for that. How many flip-flops has Obama pulled so far?

The difference between pessimism and depressive realism is one of certainity. A pessismist is certain nothing positive is going to happen. In this case criminal investigations of the Bush administration. While a depressive realist acknowledges the possibility of something happening, but also the probability of it not happening. The odds are against investigations and prosecutions of high-level Bush administration officials.

French style revolution?

I think it's becoming abundantly clear that our country is past the point of reform. Even when we vote in the democrats, nothing changes. Where's that reform Obama promised? Non-existent. The rich and wealthy still call the shots. Wall Street wrecks our economy and is rewarded for it. Goldman Sachs is just the tip of the iceberg. All of it makes one wish we could have a French style revolution in this country. Bring back the guillotine and lop of some wall street fat cat heads. Of course I'm not actually advocating such a thing. But a guy can dream.

Sotomayor hearing is today

What a nice bit of timing of the Goldman Sachs profits and the confirmation hearing of Sotomayor, happening at the same time. Since our corporate media tends to be only be able to cover one story at a time. It's going to be all Sotomayor all the time. Goldman Sachs gets lucky once again.
