A True Christian

Jimmy Carter is a true christian in every sense of the word. He walks the walk and talks the talk. Unlike the republicans that too often just talk the talk, yet their actions speak otherwise. Funny how the republicans try to claim to be the official party of Christendom. Yet when confronted by a true christian, their only reaction is hate. I think it's because Jimmy Carter exposes their hypocrisy and they can't stand that.

@wyne

You post is nothing but a bunch of bull shit. Yes there can always be found a million reasons why it's not politically expedient to do the right thing. It takes a true leader to see those reasons, ignore them, and do the right thing anyway. Obama has shown he's not a true leader. OH and spare us he is just trying to protect our troops from embarassment crap. The only troops that should be embarassed are the ones that dishonored themselves. The rest have nothing to be embarassed about. Like I said before, you post is nothing but bull shit.

Liberal media at work

Every headline I've seen about this has been, Supreme Court overrules Sotomayor. Our liberal media at work once again, framing things the way conservatives want them. Now the republicans have a huge club to work with, thanks to the liberal media. I don't many reports will not that many other judges ruled the same way she did. I don't this will sink her nomination though, but it sure doesn't help. Since she's no liberal, I don't care either way on the subject. If confirmed, she'll be very much a centrist, overly demur to state and corporate interests. Hostile to individual rights. No big loss or big win either way, if she is confirmed or not.

That should be

I wrote " I don't many reports will not that many other judges ruled the same way she did. I don't this will sink her nomination though, but it sure doesn't help." I didn't do a very good job of spell checking on this one. That should of been "I doubt many reports will note that many other judges ruled the same way she did. I doubt this will sink her nomination though, but it sure doesn't help".

Unaffordable

Last week the Senate passed the 2010 military budget of 680 billion dollars. Assuming those levels stay the same, if not increase, the US will spend almost 7 trillion dollars over the next decade on our military. Yet Sen. Max Baucus is aghasted at how much the "public option" will cost, a trillion dollars over the next decade. We just don't have the money he says, don't know where we can find it. Here's a suggestion, cut a 100 billion out the military budget each year and we can pay for the public option. We'd still be spending more then the rest of the world combined on our military, but we'd be able to provide health care for our citizens. The only time Congress thinks something is unaffordable, is when it would benefit average citizens.

Is murder still a crime?

Since Americans can no longer determine if torture is illegal or not. Is murder still a crime? I would say no, it's not. As long as you are either a CIA or member of the armed forced, and the victim is brown skinned muslim. No murder is not a crime anymore. I'm so proud to be an American.

@NattyJ

Hey dumbass Natty J. Yes the Europeans pay more in taxes and they get more in return. Americans have said they would gladly pay more in taxes, if they were to get national health care system. The problem in America is that we pay taxes but don't get anything in return. Most of our tax dollars are wasted on our bloated military budget (approaching 3/4 of a trillion dollars annually). Which goes to defense contractors that have massive amounts of waste and besides the outright theft of our tax dollars. Every tax dollar spent on the military, is a dollar that could be used for something productive. Americans wouldn't complain about paying taxes, would gladly pay higher rates, if they actually got something in return for it.

@cestmoi123

No one said you don't get to have an opinion, that's just your republican victimhood speaking. What David smith said was you typify the selfish attitude of most republicans. You got yours, the hell with anyone who doesn't. You could care less that 47 million people don't have access to medical care. You got yours, so fuck anyone who doesn't. Oh no I might have to pay little more in taxes, so someone less fortunate can get the medical care they need. That would be the biggest tragedy in the world according to you. FUCK YOU CESTMOI.

@Henry Miller, Notorbitboy, Terkel and the rest of the right-wing trolls

FUCK YOU, YOU SELFISH FUCKING ASSHOLES. You dumb motherfuckers, you already pay for those that are uninsured. You pay in higher premiums and higher copays. If anything you'd save money if America adopted a universal health care system. But you people are so fucking selfish, uncaring, inhuman, and plain stupid to realize it. Us intelligent people will solve the problem, save you idiots money at the same time, and you can thank us later. You dumb motherfuckers.

Is it Geography?

Not all muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists have been muslims. This is the standard right-wing argument in making out Islam as a violent religion. But is it really religion or geography, that makes a "terrorists"? Alqaeda and other terrorists groups come from the Middle East and other 3rd world countries. Countries that have suffered for centuries under imperial and economic exploitation. Places like Iran where the US overthrew their democratically elected leader, installed a brutal dictator, all so we could have cheap access to their oil. When any group is oppressed, they are going to fight back against their oppressors. Oppressors never acknowledge the legitamacy of the oppressed to fight back. The religion of the terrorists is not what motivates them, it's the fact that they are being oppressed and exploited.
