Fascist shift has occured

I believe Naomi Wolf is 100% correct. A fascist shift has occured in America. We are living under a fascist/corporatist government. When Obama ran on restoring the rule of law, ending torture, restoring habeas corpus, I thought maybe the fascist shift would be stopped. But now that Obama has embraced every radical Bush unitary executive theory, it's apparent that the shift isn't stopping. Yet the majority of American people are completely obvlious to this fact. They can't see that when the "terrorists" have no rights, it means they as well have no rights. All it takes is for Obama or the next president to declare someone a "terrorist", and they too can be detained indefinetly. A good documentary to watch, linked at my signature, is "The Warning". It's a 75 minute film with about the threat to our freedoms and democracy itself. Naomi Klein, Naomi Wolf, Chris Hedges, Joe Conason and Robert Kennedy Jr detail the threats to our liberties. While it was made when Bush was president, it's message is still pertinent do to Obama's actions. I suggest you watch it and share with all you know. The darkness is descending upon America. It's time to sound the Warning.

Must be a "Christian"

Yankeewoman must be one of those "Christians" I keep hearing about. The "Christians" that think torture is just fine, as long as it's done to the right (brown, muslim) people. After all Jesus was the biggest torture supporter of them all. (sarcasm) I'd like to ask Yankeewoman a simple question. How do you square torturing people, with Jesus' command to "love your neighbor"? Since I'm one of those evil human secularists, I'm can't square the two. But maybe yankeewoman could help enlighten me to how "moral christians" think.

@Coram

My cousin is one of those "born againers". Who called me a terrorist loving anti-american, because I sent an email with a link to demand Eric Holder prosecute the torturers. While there are true christians that follow the word of Jesus, there are the evangelicals/born againers. These people are the hypocrits. They know nothing of Jesus' teaching, just enough to justify their hatred of the "other". The gays, the blacks, muslims etc. The true appeal of evangelicism is it allows people to live completely immoral lives. Lie, cheat, steal etc. Yet they feel no guilt whatsoever, even imagine themselves to be morally superior to everyone else. Because they believe in Jesus and that means they are going to heaven. While I'm an agonist/atheist, I believe I'm a better christian then these people ever will be.

The Real Power

In Texas, the governor is mainly a figure head. The real power lies in the Lt. Governor office. So who cares what Rick Perry has to say about anything. He's just a figure head.

Give me a break

All the little trolls screaming, Reid and Pelosi were enablers. BS While I nor anyone else know what Pelosi and Reid were briefed on by the CIA. I'm not going to take the CIA's word for anything. They are a spy organization, spies lie for a living. As former Sen. Bob Graham has shown, the CIA isn't very meticolous in their record keeping. They claimed they briefed him 4 times, while his records only show one briefing. So I'm willing to give Pelosi the benefit of the doubt, on what she says she was briefed on. Even if they were told that waterboarding was going on, there's nothing they could of done about it. They were prohibited by law from revealing what they learned in classified briefings. Even if we accept the premise that they somehow enabled the torture, they weren't the ones that ordered it. That was Bush & Co trolls. You idiots are so dumb. You claim no torture took place, but then say Reid and Pelosi were torture enablers. So which is it? No torture happened or torture happened. You trolls can't have it both ways. If you were smart, you'd be consistent. Claim that no torture took place and just stick with it. But you want to smear Pelosi and Reid, so you end up shooting yourselves in the foot. Stupid trolls never learn.

If Pelosi knew then other's knew

So according to the trolls, Pelosi was told about the torture and did nothing. Once again the trolls have shown they don't think things through. So in 2004, Pelosi was the minority leader. That's because the republicans controlled both the House and the Senate. Dennis Hastert was the Speaker of the House. So if Pelosi was told about the torture, so was Hastert. Bill Frist was in charge of the Senate. He too was briefed on the torture program and did nothing. So all you trolls saying Pelosi belongs in the dock, you better make some room for you boys Hastert and Frist. Stupid trolls never learn.

I'm not laughing

I don't find this cartoon to be funny, I find it to be completely depressing because it's true. The conservatives that allowed 9/11 to happen, are still considered to be the only ones that can protect us. God help us if we get hit by another terrorist attack. Not only will we have a full blown police state on our hands, the righties will constantly chant "Bush protected us, Obama didn't."

Chris Matthews on Pelosi

I happened to catch a bit of Hardball last night with Chris Matthews. Chris and 2 panelists were discussing how Pelosi had really stepped in it by calling the CIA liars. The woman panelists (can't remember name) said Pelosi better hope the CIA don't release those memos, because it will show Pelosi's a liar. Which Chris and Michael Eric Dyson agreed with. What struck me is how the thought that Pelosi might be telling the truth, never entered any of their minds. It's automatically assumed that the CIA is telling the truth and Pelosi is lying. Why? To what reason has the CIA been granted such deference? These are the people who told us Iraq had weapons of Mass Destruction. Which they were wrong about. Why with this track record, are we to always believe the word of the CIA?
