Does anyone Facebook?

Does anyone Facebook? Well if my circle of "friends" is indictive of America's attitude about torture, most Americans could give a rat's ass about it. I post articles about torture. Video clips about waterboarding is a crime. Etc I never receive any responses. Most facebookers are complete narcissists. They post the most inane posts. I had a bad day today. I'd like a beer. My dog is sick. Of course those types of posts receive lots of responses. Anything serious is met with complete silence. I just wonder how many Americans actually care that torture was committed. I'd be willing to bet a sizable portion of Americans could care less.

Propagandists not journalists

We need to stop referring to people like Brian Ross as journalists, they are nothing more then propagandists. They don't deserve the title of journalists. All they do is peddle gov't lies and help spread them wide and far. Without the "journalists" selling us the Iraq War, we wouldn't be in Iraq today. I just have to wonder how stupid are thse people. How can Brian Ross allow himself to be used by gov't officials over and over, before he realizes he's being used? Or does he know he's being used and just not care?

Thank God for the Judiciary

All I can say is thank God for the judiciary. If it wasn't for the courts, this country would be a dictatorship by now. Congress has been effectively neutralized as a check on the executive branch. Too often they work in lockstep with each other to take away our rights. . This is why the selection of judges for the federal court is so very important. If the judiciary would be taken over by the likes of Bybee, Alito, and Roberts, it's over folks. We will have a constitutional dictatorship. Hard right wingers like them hate rights and love expanding government power. Since Obama has flipped in his support for constitutional rights, arguing that the President should be above the law. We have to carefully scrutinize any judicial nominees he puts forth. I just can't believe what a total fraud Obama has been. Everything he said was a total lie. Just makes me sick to my stomach.

@Dastardly

I'm not attacking you but your position is not tenable. The problem with it is we have to rely on Obama's invisible but "good intentions". That whole 11 dimension chess crap. I agree with Glenn in judging people on what they do. Obama's DOJ has adopted the same extreme legal theories that Bush's DOJ took. When someone shows you who they are, shouldn't you believe them? Not think, well maybe they are doing it to achieve the opposite effect. What would of happened if the appelate court agreed with Obama's DOJ position? What would we do then?

@Scuzzaman

Problem is most Americans are completely clueless to anything that happens outside their own little bubble. They might hear about the torture happening, but they don't care. It's not happening to them. It's happening to the "terrorists" the bad guys. Until it affects them directly, they aren't going to care about it. Yet once it starts to affect them directly, it will already be too late. Too late to do anything about it.

@jestalpro

I agree with you 100%, Obama just handed a ton of ammunition to the pro-torture crowd. See torture works, even Obama admits it. How could he be so fucking stupid? I posted on my facebook page an article by the McClathny newspaper service. The inspector General of the CIA reported that no actionable intelligence was gained from torture. The director of the FBI told Vanity Fair that no terrorists plots were disrupted from info gleaned from torture. Now Obama comes along and says yeah it works. Great. Thanks Obama.

What is even worse is you can tell from Obama's word choices, he is against criminal prosecutions and even investigations. If Eric Holder prosecutes anyone, I'd be extremely surprised. It's all going to be swept under the rug. Want to be able to commit crimes with absolute immunity, just become a high ranking gov't officials. That's Obama's legacy for future administrations.

When aren't they victims?

Righties have an inherent need to be a victim. My sister's in-laws are typical catholic conservatives. They were complaining how Public schools can't give Good Friday off, "because of the muslims". Yeah that hugely powerful group that makes up 1% of the American population.

What would be a newstory is a conservative not claiming victimhood. A conservative that actually takes responsbility for their actions, instead of blaming everyone but themselves. Of course Glenn doesn't cover fiction, so that isn't going to happen. LOL

Wow

All I can say is wow. Jane Harman must think all Americans are stupid. That we can't remember anything that happened more then a week ago. That she would think we'd just forget how she sold out the constitution. Now that she's been a victim of surveillance, she's suddenly against it. When the surveillance was done against others, she had no problem. Reminds me of the joke, What's a liberal? A conservative that's been arrested.
