To those that say, this isn't a high priority. You are wrong. It is the highest priority. If America is to regain our moral standing in the world, we must prosecute those that sullied it by ordering torture. Also give me a break, we aren't able to do two things at once. We can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can prosecute those that ordered torture, and get our economy back. Stop being so cravenly cowardly. If you want to argue that Bush and others shouldn't be prosecuted for what they did, then make that case. But don't try to hide your true motivations by saying torture is wrong, but we need to focus on other things. You can't claim the moral high ground on this issue. You are either for prosecuting Bush or you are against it. There is no middle ground.

Alan you are a coward. Truth hurts but it is the truth bud. I'll say it again, ALAN YOU ARE A COWARD. You lack the courage to make you true argument, that Bush shouldn't be prosecuted. So you try to have it both ways. Saying torture is wrong, but we have to focus on other things. Your over the top reaction shows that I'm correct. I make no apologies for telling the truth.

Santos you are dumb. You make up something I never said, arrest Bush immediately and then proceed from there. Try reading what I actually wrote and then if you got a problem with it, then make your case. But don't try make up crap and attribute it to me, you dumb moron.

I feel sorry for the 9/11 families but find it baffling they are upset with Obama for closing Gitmo. Gitmo has been a huge stain on the fabric of justice in our country. These families must realize that even if Obama allowed these military commissions to continue, any guilty verdict rendered would be eventually overturned. These commissions are a mockery of justice. They allow evidence obtained by torture. They allow secret evidence to be used against defendants, which defendants have no way of challenging. These people should be upset with Bush over this, not Obama.

It's not ignorance, it's deliberate malice. These right-winger pundits are professional LIARS. They know their job is to misinform the sheep. To confuse the issue, so the debate is constantly going and there can be no resolution. It's all apart of the conservative movement's goal of halting progress in this country.

I am so tired of ignorance. A previous poster said that Americans love to be ignorant, I think he's right. Maybe not all Americans love to be ignorant, but a lot do. This is especially common among right-wingers. They got their beliefs and nothing is going to change them. Facts are irrelevant. Ever try to debate these people? You'd have more success beating your head into a wall repeatedly. You'll get the same result. Recently someone asked me what damages did Bush do to our country? She was unaware of them. I had to inform her. Yes Americans sure love their ignorance. No wonder our country is going down hill fast.

The first few executive orders from Obama have been very good. Shutting down Gitmo and halting the kangaroo court sytem down there. I read a disgusting column by Charles Krauthammer this week, where he was crowing about Obama "seeing the light" of Bush's policies. That we have a need for Gitmo, torture, and indefinite detention. That it's good Obama is moving away from the campaign rhetoric, and see Bush has been right about things. It made me sick to read it but it's good to see Krauthammer is wrong once again. Obama is going to shut down Gitmo, end torture, and end indefinite detention. Obama is hard to peg and Washington establishment is going to realize that soon enough.

Well when Tom Daschle was picked to be secretary of Health, I knew Obama wasn't serious about national health care reform. His health care plan was just more of the same. Maybe gov't subsidized health insurance for the poor, but not the single payer system we need. The reason the cost of health care is skyrocketing every year, is because of the insurance companies. Until we address that issue, health care is going to continue to increase in price every year. Unfortunately that's never going to happen. The insurance companies have too much money and they can buy influence.

As for Obama, I knew his presidency would be a mixed bag. Somethings I'd like others I wouldn't. I like that he is shutting down Gitmo and ending torture. I don't like that he is against investigations into what the Bushies did. I knew before he was ever elected that he wouldn't really change things that much. No real reformer could ever get elected president, thanks to our corporate media. Any real threat to the status quo in Washington, would be instantly neutralized by the MSM. Look at what they did to Howard Dean in 2004. The man gave a scream and that was the end of his campaign. The MSM saw to that. Washington is so hopelessly corrupt, nothing can or will be allowed to change it.

I used to post comments regularly Glenn's blog entries, but don't do as much as I used to. I love to read comments of readers on different blogs, but I've discovered something. The longer the comment thread goes on, the more it just degenerates into little pissing matches between different commentators. It's gets so old. It's not worth wasting your time on. Everyone needs to grow up.
