Don't get cocky

Now is not the time to get cocky, polls are meaningless. The only poll that counts is the vote total count. The republicans are going to do all they can to steal this election again. They have knocked thousands of voters off the rolls already. They will be challenging voters in mass. Get involved with your local Obama campaign and help with the get out the vote campaign. We need all the volunteers we can get. Once Obama wins, then we can take a breath. Now is not the time for complacency.

This needs to end now

This needs to end now. The national media needs to start calling out McCain/Palin on their hate speech. They need to be publicly denounced for what they are doing. What's it going to take, someone getting killed? Someone ending up in the hospital? McCain needs to be called to account for the actions he's inspiring in his audience. Enough is enough.

What they mean

What the righties mean, when they say the "liberal media" didn't cover something. Is that it didn't derail Obama's presidential bid. Yes CNN,Fox,MSNBC and the rest covered Wright, Ayers, Obama's drug use etc But it didn't dissaude people from voting for Obama. So therefor the "liberal media" didn't really cover it. Because if they had, then Obama would have no chance of winning.

McCain can still win

While the polls are hopeful for an Obama victory, McCain can still win. It isn't over and we shouldn't think it is either. The GOP is going to be able to block thousands of Obama voters from voting. They have done it through voter roll purges, challenging new voters from caging lists, blocking new registrants. I live in Colorado and our repug sec. of state, threw out 10,000 new voter registrations for failing to check a single box on the form. That violates federal law, but the Bush admin won't be prosecuting. He removed voters from the rolls prior to 90 days from an election, another violation of federal law. We still have the unreliable computer voting machines. Early voters around the country have said the machines flipped their votes from Obama to McCain. So don't think for a second that an Obama victory is assured, because it isn't. Get out there and volunteer with your local Obama campaign. We need all the help we can get.

Supposed to be journalists

I think these reporters have forgotten that they are supposed to be journalists. If they want to be public relations people, they should get into that industry. Journalists are supposed to be confrontational, not comforting. Almost everything that has gone wrong in this country the last 8 years, can be traced to the demise of real journalism. If we had real journalists in this country, then we never would of suffered 8 years of Bush.

What I fear

With the polls showing an Obama victory is very likely, the right has gone into full throttled panic mode. Every right-wing pundit is writing columns on how America will be destroyed by an Obama presidency. This belief of American doom,is also reflected in letters to the editor. Now I don't think its going to persuade the majority of Americans, we know we need change. These people have become so irrational with fear of an Obama presidency, that they might act out violently. That's what I fear might happen after Obama wins. I think McCain needs to step up and stop the fear-mongering. He needs to admonish the right-wing pundits to cut the crap. If McCain loses, he should give an address to the country that Obama will be a good president. Because any act of violence committed by right-wingers, he is responsbile for because he resorted to the politics of fear. He created this monster, and he needs to help contain it.

Elephant dung from Elephantman

Oh Elephantman, you never stop shoveling that elephant dung, do you? While you'd like to believe that Bush committed no crimes, the fact is he did. He ordered torture of detainees in US custody. It was illegal when he did it. He ordered wiretapping of US citizens without warrants, another violation of US law. These are the facts and they are non-disputable. Go shovel your shit elsewhere.

What bipartisan means

As soon as Obama is sworn in, the republicans are going to show us what they mean by bipartisan. Last year they set the record for number of filibusters used in a single session of Congress. They'll definetly top that number this coming year. The repugs will do everything possible to block every piece of legislation Obama wants passed. What repugs mean by bipartisan is that they get everything they want, the dems get nothing, and then the repugs stab us in the back afterwards. Well if the repugs want to play the role of obstructionist, Harry Reid needs to rescind the "gentleman's agreement" on the filibuster. Make the repugs do a real filibuster, non-stop talking. Not like they did last session, where they just say filibuster and that stops discussion on every bill. If that doesn't stop the repugs from filibustering, then they need to use the "nuclear option" of banning the filibuster. If it was good enough for the repugs to do against the dems, it's good enough for us to do against them. Our agenda must get passed, even if it's over the dead bodies of the republicans.

No prosecutions will happen

I hate to rain on the parade, but Obama isn't going to prosecute anyone involved in torture the program.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama's incoming administration is unlikely to bring criminal charges against government officials who authorized or engaged in harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists during the George W. Bush presidency.

The article quotes 2 unnamed Obama insiders saying there will be no prosecutions of anyone involved with torture. Perhaps this is a trial balloon to gauge public reaction. If no outrage results, then they'll proceed as planned. If there is a public outcry, then maybe they'll rethink that position. Whatever the case, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for prosecutions.
