To Soprano, the answer to your question is NO. No matter how the democrats attack McCain, the repugs will throw a hissy fit regardless. It doesn't matter how respectful the attack is, the repugs will work themselves into their finest faux rage and scream like 2 year olds, on how evil and unrespectful the democrats are for attacking McCain. We can't let the repugs frame the debate. If we allow ourselves to be afraid of how they might react, that is allowing them to set the terms and tone of the debate. That's a recipe for defeat. Let the repugs scream all they want, we have to start attacking McCain.

I just looked on google news and nothing on these raids. This won't get much attention unless people make sure people know about it. Forward the story to all your friends, so they know about the assaults on our freedoms. If you silence one of us, you silence us all.

Living in CO, I was extremely angry at the way the local media reported on the police presence at the DNC. No one mentioned that the police were breaking the law by not being identifiable. I only know about it because it was reported on Democracy Now. They had no name badges, and definetly acted like they knew they wouldn't be held accountable. Not only did the media practically fawn over the massive police presence, they actively cheered it. The Rocky Mountain News ran an article how on "reassuring the heavy police presence was". Yes nothing better then a police state. I feel so much safer now. I don't think it's a coincidence that the protests were much smaller then expected. That was definetly the goal, to scare people away from protesting. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

When I read stories like this, I always sing "I'm glad to be an American, where atleast I know I'm free." It's a bit of sarcastic irony. This is truly frightening and that it's receiving zero media coverage, even more so. If it does get reported, the corporate "journalists" will mindlessly report the police statements. Something to the effect that these were dangerous anarchists/anti-authoritians and were intent on causing death and destruction during the RNC. Most people have no idea what anarchy means or anarchists believe in, but it sure does sound scary. They were anti-authoritians on top of it, they deserve what they get. As a previous poster noted, we have freedom of speech in this country, just don't try to use it. You'll get arrested.

It didn't take long for RWA (right-wing authoritian) to show up and support the police actions. Of course if he had read the whole article the "buckets of urine" were becuase the building had bad plumbing. The whole idea that protestors would carry around buckets of urine, is just retarded. Have you even seen that at a protest? I know I haven't. But the police say something absurd and mindless morons automatically believe it. Here's a news flash for all you RWA's, POLICE LIE. Police mislead and slant everything they say, to paint the accused as guilty. It's what they do. So everything the police say needs to be taking with a huge grain of salt. It should never be treated as gospel.

Obama is making a big mistake by going on Fox. O'Reilly will ambush him, or they'll edit his comments to make him look bad. I don't know what Obama is thinking, but this is a big mistake.

God help us if McCain gets elected, and Palin becomes president. Dems need to start attacking hard on this VP pick. She's completely unqualified, she's George W. Bush in a dress, and a far right christian fundie too boot. Not only is she the worst VP pick in US history, it shows John McCain has zero judgement. This is a gift to the Obama campaign, if they take advantage of it. We can sink McCain on this issue alone. I only hope they take advantage of it.

Obama received no poll bounce after his convention, just as I predicted. That's a really bad sign. Why do the dems always try to play nice? How many elections do we have to lose? Obama should be ahead in the polls by double digits, if he actually knew how to run a campaign. This Sarah Palin pick is a golden oppurtunity they are letting slip through their fingers. They should be hammering how inexperienced she is. How it reflects poorly on McCain's judgement. They aren't doing anything, which makes me sick. If Obama loses, it's because he deserves too. Only an absolute moron could lose to the repugs in this elections.

One of the things I think the dems need to learn, is that the press isn't going fact-check anything the repugs say. Sarah Palin repeated her lie about opposing the bridge to no where, but I so no mention of that in my paper today. The press is not going to point out when the repugs are lying, so the dems have to start doing that. Don't be afraid to use the L word, come right out and say LIAR. Don't use euphenisms like misspoke or mislead, so they LIED.

I was watching Andrea Mitchell report that Obama received no convention bounce. I can't remember if it was on the NBC national news or msnbc, but Andrea Mitchell said Obama received no convention bounce. That was my source. I think those polls were conducted on Friday, while Andrea was relying on polls conducted after the weekend.
