Where's Dodd?

I seem to recall Sen. Dodd saying he would do everything possible to keep telco immunity from passing. So where is he? Why isn't he filibustering? I donated money to his presidential campaign because he stood up last December and did just that, filibustered the bill and kept it from passing. I remember Glenn writing a column criticizing some beltway DC journalist, because she dismissed Dodd's actions as purely political. Well it seems she was right because I don't see Dodd doing jack shit on this. I always knew the dems would cave on this issue. They just postponed doing it til our attention was diverted else where. Tomorrow when it passes, McCain or Obama will do or say something, and that's all the news networks will report on. The sell out of our rights and constitution won't even get reported.

couple of questions

I have a couple of questions to ask. First is to Glenn, will you issue an apology to Paul Kane? You took him to task last December ,for saying Dodd's filibuster on telco immunity was merely presidential campaign politics. Well it seems he was right because Dodd ain't doing shit to stop this bill. When proven wrong about something, you should admit it.

Second question is to Tempus. What do you think you will accomplish by voting for McCain this year? You say you aren't going to vote for democrats again. I share your anger and frustration but the key isn't to stop voting democratic, you have to start voting for the better democrats. You have to get out there and make sure the better dem wins the primaries. That Gitmo ruling the supremes just handed down was 5-4, one more conservative on the court and it would of been the other way. That's the narrow razor's edge all of our rights and freedoms hang on. If McCain gets elected prez, he's going to get to put 2 maybe 3 justices on the court. If he does that, kiss your freedoms goodbye. So try to calm down and start thinking logically folks.

Where's the filibuster Glenn?

So you talked to Chris Dodd and he told you he wasn't going to filibuster? Glenn

Well where's the filibuster Glenn? If Dodd was going to do it, where is it? If Dodd does filibuster the bill, then I'll admit I was wrong. But until he does so, I remain pessimistic about him actually doing it.

@Tempus

Well Tempus, you say you won't vote for Obama, and you'll vote 3rd party libertarian, green, etc. Well that's pretty much the same as voting for McCain. If you don't vote for Obama, you are voting for McCain regardless if you do it directly or indirectly. Like those dumb asses in 2000 that voted for Nader and cost Gore the election, saying there was no difference between Bush and Gore. How'd that work out for our country stupid? You are just making the same damn mistake. No 3rd party candidate has a chance of getting elected. That's just a fact, so deal with it. So if you vote 3rd party, you are just throwing away your vote. Will Obama do everything you want him to? No most likely not, but he'll damn sure going to represent you better then McCain will. So grow up and develop some damn maturity.

Amen MaddieP

Maddie you got it just right. Tempus and adnoto talk like spoiled little brats, that take their ball home and won't play no more if they don't get their way. Well grow up you babies!!! Voting 3rd party, or not voting at all this election will only do one thing, get McCain elected. If that happens, you two have only yourselves to blame. So the rest of us will do what we can to get Obama elected. I for one am going canvasing this Saturday to help support Obama. You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. Tempus and adnoto have shown what side they are on.

Adnoto, the cries of a baby

Adnoto all your rantings are nothing more then the cries of a baby. I can't get my way all the time, so I'm going home and not playing anymore. Wah Wah Wah I'm not going to vote for Obama because he's the same as McCain. Wah Wah Wah There's no difference between democrats and republicans. Wah Wah Wah Does baby need it's diaper changed?

Two things

1) Hey Glenn, you were quoted in my paper this morning. The Rocky Mountain news had a snippet of your blog post in the editorial section.

2) When does the senate vote on this fisa bill and are there any senators that will be filibustering this bill?

Criminal prosecution

Last night on Olbermann, he was discussing the dem sell out over the FISA bill. He noted that this bill was so sloppily written, that they forgot to include immunity for criminal prosecutions. So while the phone companies may get civil immunity, they don't get criminal immunity. Olbermann noted that Obama has said as prez he will prosecute Bush admin members, if presented with evidence they committed crimes. Olbermann thinks Obama is going to criminally prosecute phone company heads that went along with this illegal program. While I think it's highly doubtful Obama will actually do that. He hasn't said anything to that affect, and has failed to honor his filibuster commitment so far. If there is a criminal prosecution over this, won't that expose who was eavesdropped on? I know that's a long shot, but even if civil suits are dismissed, we still might find out through a criminal prosecution. Also is there anything to stop an Obama admin from disclosing what the Bush admin did? Obama can declassify anything he wants once he becomes president. So why couldn't he declassify who the Bush admin eavesdropped on without warrants?

Dodd and Feingold to filibuster

Just saw this on huffpo. Dodd and Feingold are going to filibuster the FISA bill. I guess I was wrong on Dodd not doing it. I stand corrected. Read the story here http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/24/dodd-and-feingold-try-to_n_108963.html
