Well while extremely aggravating that the "elite" journalists don't think commuting Libby's sentence was wrong. It's not surprising anymore. Most "mainstream" newspapers are nothing more then corporate shills. How many times have you read a "news" article that was nothing more then an advertisement in disguise? Since the purpose of newspapers is to serve the corporations, who do you think they are going to hire? A real journalist in the muckracking tradition that's going to cause trouble for their advertisers. Or someone that will play the game? Big media long ago forsaked their moral obligations to hold those in power accountable. Now they do the opposite, continue to obstruct the people from knowing the truth. My local paper the Rocky MTN News ran a headline that said appeals court: NSA warrantless wiretapping OK. The lawsuits were dismissed because of standing, not because the program was found legal. But they ran the headline anyway, which is what a lot of people just look out. Most of the time people don't read the entire article, they just check out the headline.

It's funny how selective the fact-checking is done by the "MSM". CNN did a "reality check" on Michael Moore's new movie and Moore has fought back. Dr. Sanjay cited all these "facts" and Moore posted on his blog how they were wrong. I have no problem with the msm doing a fact-check on Moore, as long as they use actual facts. I just wish they would apply the same standard to the Bush administration. I wish they would correct the record everytime Tony Snow says congress has no oversight powers over the White House. He slips it in there and no one ever calls him on it. It's a total lie but he gets away with it.

I think it's pretty ironic that the GOP bills itself as the anti-abortion party. For 6 years the repugs controlled both the congress and white house, and never once introduced a constitutional amendment to ban abortion. They had the chance and never took it. If they were so committed to making abortion illegal, why didn't they try to ban it? Because they need abortion legal, to get those opposed to it to keep voting for them. If abortion was made illegal today, then those people opposed to abortion might vote democrat. What makes me mad is how the catholic church tells it's parishioners you have to vote for the pro-life candidate. My sister (devout catholic) says she isn't even going to vote for president next election. I know it's because she thinks she's committing a sin if she votes for the democrat. It's because of that type of crap the church should lose it's tax exempt status.

Epluribus I think you're generalizing a little too much. Calling all catholics dumbasses. How many catholics do you actually know? I was born and raised a catholic. I am not catholic anymore but I don't consider my family (who still are) to be "dumbasses". It's pretty sad how much anti-catholic bias exists in this country. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say I hate catholics. People who would never say they hate jews or any other religion, have no problem saying they hate catholics. I just have to wonder what they preach in protestant churches. I don't think its love your neighbor, it must be hate catholics.

What's scary is that is the attitude of the woman who said let's kill some liberals because they are "undermining the war". You know as an example to society. Anyone doubt she admires Ann Coulter? It no different then anything she or other right-wing hatemongers say on a daily basis. That the corporate media continues to give this woman and those like her an open megaphone is unconscionable. When the next terrorist attack hits in this country, and it will happen sooner or latter. Don't be surprised if right-wingers start doing to liberals, what they've only talked about so far. Then once the bodies start hitting the floor, maybe the media will see the consequences of the hate they allowed to proliferate.

What if the dems actually grew a pair and impeached these bastards? I know it isn't going to happen because that bitch Pelosi took it off the table. Plus the repugs in congress have no honor and march in lockstep with Bush. They aren't going to vote to convict them. But put all that aside and say the impossible happened and they were impeached and convicted. What if they refused to leave office? Bush says he is above the law and neither the courts or congress can restrain him. So I can see him refusing to vacate the oval office. Who's going to make him? That we are discussing these scenarios because they now seem entirely possible, is a sign of how far our country has descended. No one, not even the most paranoid right-winger, would of ever entertained the notion that Clinton would refuse to leave office at the end of his term. No one would of ever thought of Clinton declaring martial law and cancelling elections. Now the unthinkable has become thinkable. God help us all.
