Does Code Pink trivialize the issue?

I have a question for all that I'd like some feedback on. A common criticism of Code Pink is that their theatrics tend to trivialize the anti-war message. That by being creative in the way they get attention, they are doing more harm to the anti-war movement then good. Do you agree or disagree? I think Code Pink has to be creative because they aren't going to get media attention otherwise. They have to do things to draw attention to themselves. I guess there is a fine edge sword about it, you have to find the right balance. But just marching down the street with signs and posters, doesn't draw media attention anymore. Last year there were huge anti-war marches that draw thousands of people, and received zero media coverage.

Quilt by association

It seems that the right-wingers never change, no matter how much time has passed. Let me get this straight, I can't vote for Obama because he had a "relationship" with a communist. Since he knew a communist, that means he is one? Can you say guilt by association. What year is this again, 2008 or the 1950's? All these recent attacks on Obama are just beyond pathetic. The bs plagarism charge, and his wife's "patroitic blasphemy", now this he's a commie because he knew one. Well Glenn is definetly right that this is just the beginning of the attacks on Obama. I just hope Obama is ready to go toe to toe with these scumbags. Hopefully the right-wingers will go so overboard in their attacks on Obama, it will backfire big time. The racist nature of these folks will be made evident, I have no doubt. Who wants to bet how long it takes for Limbaugh, Savage, or someother right-wing wacko to call Obama a N*gger? I give it by July or August for one of them to drop the N bomb if he's the nominee.

Dems get it now

LibTex said that the dems haven't figured out the success of the right-wing. That the right-wing lays the ground work for their policies with the use of think tanks and right-wing radio. The dems may be late to the party but they do get it now. They are starting to fund liberal think-tanks and get progressive voices on the radio. Look at the success of Ed Schulz and Air America. Ed Schulz started his show with a loan from the democratic party. They have definetly had an impact on getting out a viewpoint opposed to the right. I think a large part of the electoral success in '06 was due to progressive radio and liberal blogs.

Magic Negro

If Obama is the nominee, and I hope he is, one thing we know for sure is that the right-wingers will make racism a part of their electoral strategy. They will make subtle and not so subtle calls to white racism, and probably get away with it. Look at that scumbag Limbaugh and his "Obama the Magic Negro" song. It amazed me that no one in the "liberal" media ever called him on it. For those that haven't heard it, find it becuase it will make you sick. I believe it's on the media matters website. Don Imus was forced of the radio for calling some b-ball players nappy headed hos. Rush played that song over and over, which was way more offensive then Imus's comment. Yet no matter what out-right racist vile thing he says or does, Rush always gets away with it. The only thing that Rush won't get away with is dropping the N bomb on Obama. Well I hope he won't get away with it, but I bet he'll try it. Especially if McCain is trailing big time in the polls.

@Farbie

Farbie the Obama is a muslim smear has been effective. While it's been repeatedly debunked in the media, people still believe it. I hear people say they won't vote for Obama because he's a muslim all the time. A recent scientific study found that people will believe rumors over facts, even when shown that the rumors are false. So don't doubt the effectiveness of that smear on hurting Obama.

Need some reading comprehension lessons

Elephantman you need to go get some reading comprehension lessons. As prunes helpfully pointed out, I never said Rush invented the song, I said he played it over and over. Of course I'm sure you think the song was a hoot. You probably envision a black-faced minstrel singing it while shucking and jiving all over the place. Or perhaps you gladly sang along, but changed the lyrics just a tad? Instead of Negro you substituted the N word, the way Limbaugh would want you to. Ok Elephantman go get your reading lessons.

As for the commentor cow head soup, what planet are you living on bud? One Hillary is not advocating for a single payer health care plan, her's is subsidized insurance for poor folks. Basically it's the Massachusetts plan, mandate people buy health insurance and help out those that can't afford it. Two, the VA is a damn good system. My grandpa is a live and well today because of it. The rest of your post demonstrated your total ignorance on the subject. Just a rant you probably heard from Rush or Savage. The typical fear-mongering bs of the "nightmare of socialized medicine". Yeah that "nightmare" that all the other industrialized nations wouldn't give up for all the tea in China. If our system was so superior and their's so terrible, why won't they switch to ours? Maybe Rush is lying to you but you're too stupid to figure it out.
