There are other ways UHC can come to America. In Canada it started with a poor and underpopulated prarie province that no one pays much attention to. Picture North Dakota having UHC. The model catches on and momentum grows. If 5 states have successful UHC programs, could a national program be stopped?

While that would definetly be a good model, it's not likely to happen here. The poorest states in America, also tend to be the most conservative. Look at that pathetic state of hicks known as Alabama. One of the worst school system by far. The republican governmor tried to get a sales tax increase passed to fund the schools. The voters rejected it. Even though it would of benefitted themselves to have better schools. So don't count on the poor states to be the model for UHC. You know they are scared to death of that "socialized medicine". Next thing you know, the country will turn commie. Oh don't forget Godless socialism at that.
Oh boy I'm big time scared now that Alqaeda will kill us all. A poster talked about crying wolf and who would keep falling for it? Well let's see the dems in congress scramble like chickens with their heads cut off, to get that eavesdropping bill passed with telco immunity now. After all they fall for it every time. Bush and his criminal admin say boo, and the dems crap their pants in fear. Hear burn the constitution, just protect us from those scary terrorists. Spy on us all you like, just get those terrorists. Yet funny thing is, when was the last time they actually got some real terrorists? OH silly me, pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. I forgot we aint supposed to question things, it helps the terrorists. Please Bush do forgive me.
I just found this bit of video on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIO8B6fpFSQ& It's an interview by David Frost of Benazir Bhutto from last November. It aired on Aljazeera English. About 4 to 5 minutes into the interview, Benazir Bhutto says that a man named Omar Sheik murdered Osama Bin Laden!!! What's amazing is that David Frost has no reaction to it at all. So I got to wonder, is Osama dead? If so, funny that it never got reported here. Well maybe that's why Bush said he didn't worry about OBL anymore, he knew he was dead.
The president has now admitted to torture. Yet the Senate goes about their business giving him more power and immunity.
Where is the outrage?
There are times I despair. This is one of 'em.

Amen brother. Where is the outrage? Do people care anymore? I guess the answer is no, not really. As long as American Idol is on the tv, and they can go shopping. So what if Bush declares himself above the law. It don't affect them. Hey they ain't doing anything wrong, so who cares who's listening to their phone calls? Only the "bad people" have to worry about that. Those that do care, like us, are both outraged and full of despair. Despair because the institutions that were supposed to keep this from happening, have utterly failed to do their jobs. Congress not only doesn't hold Bush accountable, but actively enables his law breaking. The courts, stacked with right-wing idealogues, also look the other way. Our entire system of gov't has been shown to be absolutely worthless. It only works if each group abides by the role they have to play. Each branch doing it's job. Bush showed that it's all just volunatary. The president can break the law, and as long as congress or the courts don't do anything. He'll get away with it.
I don't know if anyone saw my posting on the previous thread, so I am reposting the link. In November of last year, Benazir Bhutto was being interviewed by David Frost for Aljazeera English. Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIO8B6fpFSQ& About 4 to 5 minutes in she says something incredible. That a man named Omar Sheik murdered Osama Bin Laden. As we hear of the renewed menace of Alqaeda, just in time to scare congress into giving Bush more powers, why don't we ever hear about OBL anymore? Maybe Bush was being honest when he said he didn't worry about him anymore, because he knew he was dead. Just food for thought.
Yeah those kids in masks training for Alqaeda sure are scary. I'm ready to give up my rights now, just get those scary kids. Of course the media reports all of this without laughing.
Be afraid is always the message of the day. What's next, a new Osama video? Has it been 6 months yet? It seems every 6 months or so we get a new one released. Just forget that the last video, the "Osama" looked nothing like the real guy. Well atleast we have the kids be afraid of now. LOL
