Special place in hell

I hope there is a special place in hell reserved for Reid, Pelosi and the rest of the congressional "leadership". The way they have sold out our country and constitution, is unforgivable. I've written Edwards, Hillary and Obama to fight against telco immunity. Now we will see if Hillary or Obama will actually take action. I'm not that hopeful considering their records but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

As for the purposely contrarian shooter, as why to be worried about gov't doing what AT&T has been doing. Well you see the gov't has powers that a private company does not. The gov't can arrest and imprison people. So using link analysis maybe I somehow get connected to a "terrorist". Maybe I called someone, who called someone, who talked to a terrorist. Bush says he can arrest and imprison anyone on his says so. So being remotely connected to a terrorist is all it takes to get imprisoned as one. Remember habeas corpus no longer applies in this country for people declared "enemy combatants". Of course shooter you probably aren't that stupid, so you knew all this already. But being the right-wing prick you are, you couldn't help from making an ass out of yourself.

Kabuki

Someone posted that the impeachment of Bill Clinton was meant as kabuki. No intention of removing him from office, but to take impeachment off the table for future presidents. I agree that that has been the result, but disagree that the repugs didn't want Clinton removed from office. They would of loved to have had impeachment succeed against Clinton. They hated the man and still do to this day. But the result of the repugs "Get Clinton" mentality, did pave the way for Bush to get away with his crimes. If Clinton farted the wrong way, the repugs turned it into a huge "SCANDAL". The result was that the american people were numbed into complanency. So when Bush got into office and committed real crimes, the american people just shrugged it off. Just saying that's the dems playing partisianship. Of course the repugs had no way of knowing the crimes Bush would commit, when they were going after Clinton. But I do hold them responsible for where they have led this country.

As for writing my senators to oppose this immunity bill, I have. But my representatives in congress have longed stop responding to my letters. That's what happens when you contact them too often. Anyone else have that problem? My two senators are repug Sen. Allard and DINO Sen. Salazar. I'm sure both of them will vote to give immunity to the telcos. Allard is retiring this year and hopefully we can get a real dem into his seat. Not another DINO like Salazar, who might as well be a repug.

@ Bystander

Yes Allard is complete waste of space, thankfully this is his last term. Hopefully Mark Udall can win his seat. I'm sure he'd be a real dem, instead of the DINO Salazar. Salazar has been an embarassment since he got into office. I wish he'd just pull a Nighthorse Campbell and switch to the repug party, he votes with them more then he does the real dems anyway.

On another topic, this comment thread has been shooter free. I'm beginning to miss the chap, just joking. The previous comment section shooter said what's the big deal if the gov't does what a private company does? I and others responded that gov't has more power, can put people in jail, will use it to target others etc etc. Shooter and that coward anonymis know, or have been told, about the history of abuses committed by our gov't. The FBI cointelpro, the Palmer raids against the labor movement. Citizens not doing anything wrong but merely exercising their rights to advocate for themselves. That reminds me of a great quote I saw. "Beware of the man that studies but appears to not grow wiser. He did not come by his ignorance honestly." I'd say that quote perfectly illustrates people like shooter.

Clinton and Obama SUCK

Well surprise surprise, neither Clinton or Obama bothered to take time off the campaign trail to stand up for our Country and Constitution. What a shocker!! I guess that would of meant taking a stand on an issue, something they are so scared to do. It might come back to haunt them. Those mean repugs might accuse them of being "soft on terror". Too bad Edwards isn't still in the Senate, I know he would of done the right thing and supported the Dodd's filibuster. By all means dems, lets put Hillary or Obama as our presidential nominee. Two candidates that stand for absolutely NOTHING. If they won't stand up for our Constitution now, what do you think they'll do if they become president? You think they will do anything worth while? If you do, you are in for huge disappointment. Obama and Clinton are two sides of the same corporatist-DLC coin. If either one gets the dem nominee, I know they will lose big time. Definetly if the repugs put up McCain, he will be our next president. Edwards is the only one that can beat McCain. So all you Obama and Clinton supporters, go ahead and vote for either one in the primaries. You are really voting for the repugs to win the presidency. You'll get what you deserve.

Hopeful

While the fight isn't over yet, it's definetly a hopeful development that this telco immunity can be stopped. I just wonder how much the repug betrayal on this issue, will light a fire under the dems. Of course the media will never expose how cynical the repugs and Bush have been on this issue. Saying we need this eavesdropping law or the terrorist will kill us. Then making sure the law doesn't get passed to use for political advantage. Or that Bush will veto any legislation that doesn't include telco immunity. I guess it would be "liberal-bias" to point that out. Well let's keep up the good fight.
