These decisions are an indication of things to come. The right-wing justices on the court never met a right they didn't want to take away. Or a big business they didn't want to rule in favor of over the average joe. What makes me really sick is how all of this was able to happen. Average Joe christians that want abortion illegal voted these guys in. Told by their priests and pastors that they couldn't vote for the dem and still be a good christian. They wanted to change the direction of the court, well they are going to get it. Yeah maybe the court will overturn roe v wade but it's going to make tons of decisions that will be against the interests of average work a day people. Like the decision to limit sex discrimination lawsuits. You can only sue your company if you file a complaint with 180 days of injury. However if you don't know you were injured until years later, the court says tough. The court has given businesses the green light to discriminate at will, knowing most people won't find out they were discriminated until years after the fact. Expect more and more of our rights to be taken away. Expect more judgements for big business and loss of consumer protection for average people. Remember how to thank for it too.
I don't believe Hillary should have to answer for Bill. That aside, there is no comparison. Yes Bill was wrong to pardon Marc Rich but it wasn't to cover up a crime committed on his behalf. Bush commuting Libby's sentence was a continuation of the obstruction of justice into the outing of Valerie Plame. Now we will never know what really happened beyond a reasonable doubt. Of course, just because you can't prove something doesn't mean it didn't happen that way. It appears to me that Libby was acting on behalf of both Bush and Cheney. His lies were intended to shield their involvement in the outing of Valerie Plames undercover identity. I can only hope that this outrage gives the dems a much needed kick in the balls to bring impeachment charges againt Bush and Cheney. Hopefully there are still some republicans in congress that have a sense of decency and respect for our system of government, and will do what is right. I ain't holding my breath though.
I suggest everyone contact their representative and demand impeachment precedings be brought against the criminals in the white house. I wrote my representative yesterday. Unfortunatley she is Marilyn Musgrave, one of Bush's biggest boot lickers. So probably nothing will come of it. I got an email today calling for impeachment. It referenced a blogger chat with Nancy Pelosi and she rejected the calls for impeachment. She said impeachment would be good if it would succeed. So basically the dems are doing what they always do, if you're not assured victory as the outcome, don't even bother. I could care less if the impeachment fails, it's the political statement it would make that counts. That this is a country of laws and that no one is above them, not even the president. Most americans probably don't care one way or the other. It's only those that are politically active (small minority of americans) that actually cares. The rest are too busy or just plain apathetic anymore. Which reminds me of something I read once about the stages of a democracy. Dictatorship and tyranny leads to revolution. Revolution leads to democracy. Democracy leads to abundancy. Abundancy leads to complanency. Complanency leads to apathy. Finally apathy leads back to tyranny and dictatorship. I think we are nearing the completion of the cycle and a return to dictatorship. If you haven't heard of National Security Presidential Directive #51, I suggest you google it. This directive if implemented would put Bush in charge of all three branches of the federal government. All it takes to implement this directive is an "emergency", and Bush gets to define what that is.
Does everyone remember how Bush said he wouldn't interfer in Libby's case until the appeals process was exhausted? Well it wasn't even close to being finished and he interferred. Yet another lie by this criminal. As for who can write the birth announcement of the new fascist states of Merica. I think shooter can do that. It's what he's desiring for years. A true unamerican if there ever was one.
The argument that Clinton did these things too, so it makes what Bush did alright. That's just a way for someone to change the subject. Don't fall for that trap. The subject is what Bush has done, which is continue to obstruct justice in the outing of a covert cia agent. This whole sorry affair just goes to show how low our country has fallen. That most people don't care is further proof that our democracy is in perilious condition.
I see Mona brought up the islamic charity group that has documents that show it was spied on without warrants. Doesn't that give them standing? Or is the Bush administration going to get away with it because they claim the documents are classified? As for shooter, you contribute nothing to the conversation. All you do is throwing verbal bombs at people. You act is old and stale. GO AWAY!!!
