Greenwald; the worthless MSM
[Read the article: Do journalists have any obligations beyond their self-interest?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]My hearty congratulations, Mr. Greenwald. The fact that you get "trash-talked in pundit circles and at media parties" shows that you're doing your job, that you're drawing blood. Carry on!
With few exceptions, the MSM is Goddamn worthless. Corporate-owned-and-operated, dependent on government for so much, it's a loyal collaborator of the political establishment.

FAUX News and the piss-poor MSM; our "war" in Afghanistan
[Read the article: The government, the media and Afghanistan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So FAUX News and its "reporter" Oliver North spews Pentagon-issue bullshit about our killing of innocent Afghans? Standard operating procedure for 'em, isn't it?
The talk shows and their hosts--er, I'm sorry, the news programs and their anchors--
still refuse to admit that they used military officers to propagandize for the Iraq War? Given the corporate-owned-and-operated, dependent-on-government MSM, the millionaire talk show hosts--er, anchors--like Brian Williams, Katie Couric et al. aren't likely to say otherwise.
Evidently, all we're doing in Afghanistan is killing innocents--civilians, people attending weddings, and the like. Of course, we have no more reason to be there than we have of being in Iraq.

Sarah ("Blood an' Guts") Palin; lying neocons; lying MSM types
[Read the article: Where is the debate over the Bush Doctrine?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sarah ("Blood an' Guts") Palin isn't shy about picking fights, is she? (I know she's commanded the Alaska National Guard in many tough battles and campaigns. She's one of the great battle captains of history, up there with Napoleon, MacArthur, Gustavus Adolphus, Frederick the Great. . . .)
Palin said that we must not "second guess" anything Israel does against Iran. She seems to yearn for war with Russia (!). And, of course, there's Pakistan to deal with. Palin met with AIPAC and "Zionist Joe" LIEberman right after she was tapped for VP. They made sure she got with the program.
The "Bush Doctrine"? Essentially, it's a bunch of we'll-attack-you-if-we-don't-like-you crap.
George Will, that self-styled fount of wisdom, says that he doesn't understand the "Bush Doctrine," and that we should cut Palin slack for not understanding it. Unfortunately for Will, there's Greenwald with his quotes from the past that contradict Will (and Charles Krauthammer, that rabid whack job). These guys understood it just fine years ago--why not now?

Karen Tumulty and TIME, I'm callin' you out!
[Read the article: Time's Karen Tumulty: Unlike reporters, bloggers don't have to use proof]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Karen Tumulty and TIME, I'm callin ya out: I challenge you to do a feature story on the Israel Lobby and its overwhelming influence (control?) over McInsane and Saint Barack, and its influence over "American policy" in the Middle East. (TIME's cover could be: "The Israel Lobby: Does it control presidential candidates and foreign policy?")
Do a full, balanced (pro- and anti-Lobby views presented) story on the Israel Lobby. This is an issue that merits attention, given the bellicose views of the DemoPublican Party's two candidates.

The f**ked-up Congress
[Read the article: The oversight joke]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The "Parliament of Whores"--aka the U.S. Congress--is rapidly becoming obsolete, isn't it? It doesn't investigate, it doesn't exercise oversight, it doesn't do much of anything, really, except waste the taxpayers' money. The FBI Director appears before the committee, they huff and puff a bit, he gives 'em platitudes and non-answers, and that's it. That's the "investigation" of the FBI's anthrax "case" against the late Bruce Ivins.
The FBI's "case" against Ivins could very well be a bunch of crap. It should be subject to harsh scrutiny by outside, independent authorities. Of course, it's too bad that the U.S. Congress (!) isn't much interested.
-
These issues aren't being raised because McInsane and Saint Barack are pathetic
[Read the article: Salon Radio: ACLU's Caroline Frederickson]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why aren't constitutional and civil liberties issues being raised in the current presidential charade--er, campaign--between Saint Barack and McInsane? Probably because neither of these bastards shows any respect for civil liberties. McInsane's voted for all the fascist bullshit, and Saint Barack voted for the recent FISA bill (which wiped the telecoms clean, and expands warrantless surveillance).
-
The FBI's "case" against the late Bruce Ivins
[Read the article: Key senators dispute FBI's anthrax case against Bruce Ivins]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The FBI has accused the late Bruce Ivins of being the anthrax attacker. They might be right. Given the questionable nature of some of its "evidence," however, we can't be sure. We don't know if there were others involved.
The FBI Director's reluctance to answer questions about his own agency's "investigation" will, inevitably, lead to public doubt--and suspicion.
We'll never know what defense Ivins would have made in a court of law, with the government being required to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt, to a moral certainty. The thing to do is for the FBI to release its "evidence" to outside, independent authorities for scrutiny.

Oh, the irony! . . .
[Read the article: What does Sarah Palin have to hide in her Yahoo e-mails?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The fascist bastards who cheered on illegal surveillance are now against it (at least in the case of Sarah ("Blood an' Guts") Palin).
Palin might sit down with her running mate McInsane, that noted exponent of civil liberties, and talk to him about it.
-
Sarah ("Blood an' Guts") Palin is a scumbag
[Read the article: The Bush/McCain/Palin contempt for subpoenas and the rule of law]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sarah ("Blood an' Guts") Palin--that intrepid C-in-C of the Alaska National Guard, who isn't afraid to mix it up with Russia, Iran, Pakistan et al.--is a scumbag. It's obvious that she doesn't give a good Goddamn about the rule of law.
Just as the Israel Lobby and the neocons have taken her over (like the pods in "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1956)), so has the lawless culture of D.C.

Joe & Jane Sixpack prepare to bail out Wall Street!
[Read the article: The complete (though ever-changing) elite consensus over the financial collapse]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Never fear, you two-fisted, risk-taking financial barons of Wall Street: Whenever you can't hack it, when things get too tough for you boys, Joe & Jane Sixpack will wipe the tears from your eyes!
Mr. & Mrs. Sixpack are friends of mine. They live in Peoria, where Joe works the second shift on a warehouse loading dock. Jane, I'm sorry to say, lost her job (it was outsourced, I believe, to India, or something). Anyway, the Sixpacks (and the millions like 'em) will be paying for the bailout "plans" that the Liar-in-Chief, Paulson, Bernanke, Greenspan and their fellow Establishment hacks dream up for the benefit of their Wall Street friends and collaborators.
(By the way, I don't think that Mad Bomber McInsane is too shook up over taxpayer bailouts: He was one of the "Keating Five" darlings involved in the savings-and-loan scandal/bailout.)
-
Nice of Gingrich, Kristol et al. to oppose the bailout bullshit!
[Read the article: Growing right-wing opposition to the Paulson plan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This bailout plan for Wall Street is pure, unadulterated bullshit. It's engineered by Paulson, Bernanke, Greenspan for the benefit of the Wall Street crooks and bunglers.
Let's hope that this crap is killed somehow. (Yes, I agree that reich-wing opposition from the likes of Kristol, Malkin, and Gingrich will help.)

Is Ed Morrisey channelling Ron Paul?!
[Read the article: Single funniest blog post I ever read]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Either Ed Morrisey has suddenly discovered a devotion to Constitutional principles (which seems unlikely!) or he's channelling Ron Paul.
Anyway, it's good to read.
