Jeepers Creeper
[Read the article: MSNBC on the "pregnant man": "I'm gonna be sick"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Boy, all the outraged posters here had better never go to Thailand. They have transgendered people out the wazoo there.
Why is this a big deal? Why can't we have the choice to choose who we want to be? So what if a woman only undergoes a partial change and then has a baby? This is the future people. If she had just dressed like a man and pretended to be a man (i.e. old school trans), then would it be okay?
I really felt the point of this story is the medical establishment's refusal to participate in this. If s/he just went out and got knocked up (even with a mustache), wouldn't the hippocratic oath cover the need to provide medical services? Though obviously we know how seriously docs here take that.
As to the adopter crowd, go read Savage Dan's book "The Kid" for a glimpse at the Jesus freak dominated adoption machine. Yep, there just chucking the babies at the queer crowd, left and right. Yeppers.
Get real.

The Joys of America
[Read the article: I'm a med student, but my boyfriend has just a high school education]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]First off, let's be happy we can date and love out of our own social class. That is a big deal. Not every place can boast that (as LW probably knows if she is from Asia). Love marriages are a choice here, let's rejoice.
Second, you are only 24. I don't mean to patronize, but what a 24 year old med student doesn't know about life is massive. I have had the privilege of meeting many a senseless graduate student in the past few years. Do not confuse higher education for wisdom. It is not.
Three, it is quite unkind of you to project your own desire all over someone else. Look at what it did to you? I hear no mention of your own motivation for becoming a doctor other that your parents. America doesn't really need anymore "have-to" doctors. So bear in mind, everyone has a different view. You possess one, c'est tout.
Lastly, you don't know the future. I am well educated and married to someone who only had a high school education for a long time (he now has a sucessful healthcare career). What he brings to my life is a totally different set of experiences. Why did your boyfriend make the choices he did? Do you know? Have you asked? Between the two of you, I think you might be the one less examined.
Sorry, this sounds meaner that I intended to. As someone who faced frequent inquisition about a similar situation, I can't help but feel the problem lies on the asker, and not with the relationship necessarily.

Friendly fire
[Read the article: When rape is just another workplace dispute]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]@marcparis
Maybe it says more about me, but that was my first thought, too.
Ooops. I guess my gun went off in your face and genitals. It's only coincidence that I am saying you raped me. No sir, it was an accident. I mean anything can happen here, right? Even a bunch of assholes getting their junk blown off. This is war!
I don't care what people say. I question if you are human, that a little violence breaks your brain like that. Of course, if you are mercenary for a living, my guess is no one likes you much to begin with.

Color
[Read the article: The Asiatic vs. Italian fake hair showdown]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Mostly I just question how many European people could use hair that dark and stiff? Asian hair tends to be unmistakable. Maybe inside a puff?

Apples and Oranges
[Read the article: Indians prefer boys]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Comparing abortion here and in India is not a comparable argument. The value and purpose of children is different. Children are a pet or a nuisance in the US. No amount of screeching by the pro-life harpies is going to change that. We (Americans) live in a culture that primarily looks at children as a choice, why people have abortions reflects that.
Clearly, a systemic wide use of abortion as a form of sexual genocide is a different thing. How tragic of people here to twist that into another pointless rehash of pro-life/pro-choice here in America.
Shame on all of you.

Shoplifters of the world, unite and take over!
[Read the article: Criminals of the world, unite and take over]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I think this might be another case of generation gap. All us youngsters got the reference ASAP, and the oldsters are thinking Chavez (or whatever!).
Ain't it grand!

Whiny boys afraid of girl power. Oooh.
[Read the article: Beyond Vagina-dome]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why in the midst of talking about something personal that does, in fact, involve sisterhood, would we need to stop and talk about how sometimes women are shitty to men?
How many men are trafficked for sex?
How many men have been raped (comparatively)?
How many men have to have a man shove his hands inside of you annually (yes, prostate, but that doesn't start at 15)?
I mean, I could go on and on. Women are allowed to get together and care about stuff and not give a FUCK what men think about it. Men do it all the time.

BS65
[Read the article: It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's Abortion Man!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]@BS65 -Dude, somewhere your med timer is going off.
And to all the condom bashers, do you not know how to use one or do you just have a smallish, sort of soft dick?
I am extremely pro-condom. They have kept me pregnancy and STD free for a long time (I would prefer not to say how long, but LOOOONG). I can only attribute problems with them to operator issues, since I have never had 1 break, 1 slip, 1 nothing, and it certainly isn't for trying.

A BS is good for something
[Read the article: I'm completely irresponsible and I live at home mooching off my parents]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If you want to teach overseas, you typically need a bachelor's. At least, if you want to make a living wage. Maybe there are some shady or start-ups that don't require it but the biggies (NOVA, JET)do.
Just an FYI.
