I thought the article by Koppelman & Madden was a wonderful example of convoluted thinking. Common sense is now a rare commodity & is certainly lacking in this article. I am informed that GM owes 63 billion. In my opinion due to incompetent management and self serving unions. How can an enterprise survive without radical change, which must include a reduction in compensation for every one. If not, the tax payers money will evaporate rapidly until the next donation is called for to save the Titanic. The so called"American" car is laughable. I had a Chrysler minivan, it was assembled in Canada, the engine was Japanese, the transmission was made in Mexico. It gave an unreasonable amount of mechanical problems. So for the first time I bought a "foreign" car ,a Toyota. It was assembled in Ohio of about 85% American made parts. I have had no mechanical problems in 3.5years of useage. It would be interesting to learn where the cars were made which the writers are driving. We peasants have to select what gives us the best value for our money!
