Well,

if I had any idea what you are talking about, I would be worried. Fortunately, I don't have a clue.

Original article: Facebook's gender trouble

Get a life ...

if how you are referred to on Facebook is your biggest problem, then you really don't have any problems, do you?

Original article: The DVD isn't dead

A little of both ...

I'm a Netflix user. At home, on a high speed connection, I will watch the instant movies in my queue, but when I travel on business (a lot) I take my current DVDs with me, because a lot of the time I'm on a slow wireless or cellular connection, and the speed and reliability is too poor for downloading.

Excellent article

I feel the same way. I watch to see the real Olympic sports, to see the competitors for whom this is the highlight of their sporting career. I don't want to see basketball, soccer, tennis, even though I love those sports in other contexts. I also want to see events, not those little Hallmark hall of fame narratives that just waste time that could be better spent showing badminton or archery.

As for the flag-waving, it's a real problem. I moved to the USA in the eighties, and was utterly shocked by the coverage here, by how slanted it was. If there are four heats in a sprint, and only three have American contestants, then only those three will be shown. Unbelievable!

Original article: "Ugh" of the day

It might come as a shock to Ms Clark-Flory ...

but there are many of us who live full and eventful lives without ever feeling the need to watch TV or listen to commercial radio. So no, never even heard of this song.

Monday, September 29, 2008 01:44 PM

Why are you assuming ...

that getting it passed is a good thing?

Sunday, October 12, 2008 10:55 AM

The difference ..

is that Obama is not a terrorist, whereas McCain's behavior can fairly be described as erratic. There's actually quite a big difference between a despicable lie and a reasonable observation.

This is supposed to be live?

Original article: Racists for Obama

Never mind the Bradley effect,

it's being outweighed by the Archie Bunker effect. This is the effect whereby white racists don't like blacks in general, but are fine with the ones that they actually know. People have got to know Obama, and think he will do a good job.

Original article: Disappointed by Rick Warren

Why

does there need to be *any* religious figure involved at all? Shouldn't religion be kept out of politics altogether ?

Every time

someone votes for an anti-science moron like Michelle Bachmann, god kills an unborn baby. So don't do, good people of Minnetonka -- don't have the blood of the innocent on your woolly mittens.

Thank you, to the previous poster.

A supposedly left-leaning publication like Salon should not be using Republican redefinitions of terms like 'Liberal' and 'Moderate'. Let's be clear -- the *only* moderates in American politics are those on the left wing of the Democratic party. The so-called 'moderate Democrats' are in fact Conservatives.

Thursday, April 9, 2009 04:32 PM

If only ...

it were true. It might actually be a sign of progress in this benighted country.

Friday, April 17, 2009 07:21 PM
Original article: Don't have a cow!

Does Mr. Masson not understand ...

that if we did not eat meat there would not be any cows left, except perhaps for a few in zoos? Does he really believe that they would just be given land and allowed to run free?

Wednesday, April 29, 2009 04:49 AM

Huh?

The Democrats have moved so far to the right that Arlen Specter feels comfortable joining the party, and that is cause for celebration?

The first matter of business for real Pennsylvania Democrats should be to find a primary challenger to unseat that bum, once and for all.

And, just to be clear, a one party state is a bad thing, no matter who that party is.

Original article: The lying liars who tweet

Enough already ...

Can't we all just agree to ignore the self-obsessed idiots who actually use Twitter? You know, the types who would rather have 'followers' than 'friends' ...

Original article: Tweeting the revolution

Brave American saves revolution for nameless dusky foreigners ...

I smell a Hollywood blockbuster coming on.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009 11:47 AM

Surely ...

the GOP is equivalent to the right wing, fundamentalist thugs who are beating up the protesters. It's mind-boggling if they can't actually see that.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009 02:33 PM

Good to see

that Republicans are "staying the course" with their strategy of basic incompetence.

Thursday, June 18, 2009 02:36 PM

OMG

So you mean that Tom Cruise won't be playing Austin Heap in the movie 'Hot Tehran Nights' ?

Monday, June 22, 2009 01:22 PM

It's curious ...

how the worst offenders all went to the Bollettieri Academy. It is a form of cheating, it hides the sound made by the racquet hitting the ball, which is valuable information for the opponent.

Friday, June 26, 2009 04:28 PM

NoScript

I can't believe NoScript isn't #1 on your list, it's absolutely essential. I would not use Firefox without it. It's your best protection against cross-site scripting attacks, and just generally makes the web a safer place to browse.

Another useful add-on is Greasemonkey. I use a nice script that hides a lot of the junk on the Facebook hompage.

Saturday, June 27, 2009 01:15 PM

It wasn't a sex scandal.

As far as I'm concerned, Sanford had every right to fall in love with someone other than his wife. Stuff like that happens, and it's painful for everyone concerned. The real scandal is his hypocrisy.

Saturday, June 27, 2009 02:16 PM

Can Salon please ...

stop propagating the "60 votes in the Senate" bullshit? 60 votes are not required to pass legislation.

Tuesday, July 28, 2009 03:08 PM

Which is worse?

His arrogance or his stupidity ...

Saturday, August 1, 2009 02:09 PM

It's not just torrents

My former ISP, a cable company that has since been purchased by Comcast, used to drop my connection when I was scrolling around in Google Maps in the Satellite view. I know they were doing it because I could recreate it at will. It has stopped happening with my new ISP.

Monday, August 3, 2009 08:37 AM

Joan, it's not about you.

Maybe it's time you stopped being a blogger and started being a journalist. I really don't care what that fat bastard Limbaugh thinks about you. I don't really care what he thinks about anything, he should be ignored. People like him thrive on attention. Sometimes it seems like you do too ...

Monday, August 31, 2009 06:41 PM

Wrong

Calling another man a cunt in Britain is most definitely not "a shot at his masculinity", any more than calling him a wanker actually means that you think he masturbates excessively. It's just a fucking insult, innit?
