Jesus Christ!
[Read the article: The return of the Rev. Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Last week, McCain got an endorsement from a pastor who blames the people of New Orleans for Hurrican Katrina. Is he going to get the same scrutiny Obama has gotten about joining a church led by Rev Wright? I don't think so. If you are Black, you are sick and tired of the scrutiny Rev Wright is getting. I know I am. Enough already! I have joined churches and attended churches where the preacher has gotten fired up and said many things, some I agreed with and some I didn't. I have heard Minister Farrakhan speak and agreed with some of what he said and the other I overlooked. Can't America, especially the press lighten up? Black people's experience is different than whites. When I was younger I thought Martin Luther King was too tame. Now that I have mellowed I realize that he had the correct tactics. Still rocks were thrown at him, his house was bombed, and he was stabbed. These things also happened to white followers, and they were non-violent. Let's face it. This country has not been kind to Black people or their supporters. And yet Rev Wright is painted as a hate monger. Ironic, isn't it? If this is truly a country based on Christian philosophy, is there no forgiveness for Rev Wright?

So what?
[Read the article: When did Obama start running for president?]

Oh God!
[Read the article: The Democrats' God problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Must we hear about Rev. Wright every day from the press? Much of what he says I agree with. Most of the people who are shoving Rev. Wright down our throats had no intentions of voting for Obama in the first place. Win or not win, Rev. Wright stresses how far Black people and white people haven't gotten so close as we originally thought. I believed Jimmie Carter is and was a devout Christian. He lives by the good book, every day. Others not so much. Everyone thought Jimmie Carter was a joke. Now someone's religion is news. This country is hypocritical, and the chickens will come home to roost!

Testicular Fortitude
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton's fortitude ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hillary will even grow testes to win this campaign. I thought the comment was sexist. I was offended by it. It showed she will stoop to any lengths for a vote.

King was confrontational
[Read the article: Controversy brewing over King statue]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]He started off fighting the racism in the Old South. He marched and boycotted like Ghandi. He took to the streets with a Bible in his hand. He believed in passive resistance, but he was not a passive person. He did not believe in violence as a solution to the problem. The results of that was violence towards him and his followers. He did not take up arms, although arms were used on him. Like Ghandi, he was assassinated. When MLK left the Race issue, and started talking about the economic issues that still plague this country and this world, he became very dangerous. I look at MLK very differently than I did in the 60's. He put his life on the line, which was very brave. And like Ghandi, he paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Well, well well
[Read the article: Will racism hurt Obama?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Obama is thought to be not quite an American by some of the people of these states you have mentioned. His father was from Africa. Many of the people of these states have lived in this country since it's inception. They are skeptical. I don't think there is anything that Obama can do about a culture which doesn't trust foreigners, even ones from Up North. He is smart enough to try during the general election, I feel. I lived in the South years ago, and I found it difficult to get a job from Black employers, who said they didn't want to hire a Yankee. Some of those states are still fighting the Civil War. Incidently, I'm Black!

FISA
[Read the article: Keith Olbermann: Then and now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I too was disappointed in Obama's supporting the FISA bill. I also was disappointed in Olbermann's discussion yesterday on Countdown. Will it be politics as usual, with us not voting for someone we believe in, but for the lesser of 2 evils? I hope and pray not. I was gravely disappointed with Clinton, when he promised great things, and only delivered NAFTA. He did not help the Haitians or establish a viable health care plan, despite Hillary's hard work. Sigh!

I couldn't agree more

Flipping Out
[Read the article: I Like to Watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This show is like watching Seinfeld! Jeff is mean and callous, and yet extremely funny in a sick way. Jenni looks like Elaine. I laugh my ass off at every episode! Guilty pleasure, guilty pleasure!

Values over Substance
[Read the article: Sunday morning at Saddleback Church]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I listened to all of Obama's speech, and as much of McCain's as I could stand. His most difficult decision was made when he was a POW. His easiest decision was when he was a POW. He doesn't want "our money go to the terrorists." Exit stage left... His whiny voice is hard to take. I heard nothing but the same BS he's been saying ad nauseum. Look, my father was a lifer in the Air Force, a Tuskeegee Airman and was a soldier In WWII, the Korean Conflict, and The Vietnam War. He had the courage to make a career of the military, and stay with the same wife until he died. McCain was tortured, and that is regretable. Is that his only claim to fame? He's look to General Petraus for leadership? Please!
