The Chin That Dares Walk Like A Man

Just a couple of things. MacDonald writes: "Hannity's more than slightly overweight Cary Grant". No, no, no and NO. Cary Grant nee Archibald Alec Leach, was a gentleman. A class act. Perhaps the only things he has in common with Sean is that both were Republicans (albeit, Republicans were a bit more refined in Grant's day, and "he publicly condemned McCarthyism in 1953" -- totally unlike the step-lock Sean), and the fact that he may have been a closeted bi-sexual. So, no, please do not compare the odious smarmy Hannity to Mr. Grant. Second. THE connection. The wingnuts are gonna use this and worry it and shake it like a dog with a chew toy until it starts to stink. And even when it falls apart, they're still going to be trotting it out. Think back to the old "Al Gore said he invented the internet" crapola that every putz was bandying about a few years ago (they still trot that pony out even now whenever Al's name comes up). They can't let go.

Dingleberry's Back!

Jaysus, Zoltie, I'd figured you'd have stayed away longer after being severely embarrassed and battered the last time you were trying to bait people here, then I remembered that you're a shameless drooling old wingnut. Really, most folks posting here haven't forgotten you. This isn't the Freeker's Republic, for gosh sakes -- the memories here last a wee bit longer. And your sense of humor?? Nope, still a minus in that department, but then, insects don't have much to laugh about. BTW -- the "oy vey" schtick was old when Henny Youngman did it back in the 60s, but then, that seems to be the decade you are stuck in. Anyway, stop trying to duke it out with the people here. You're a featherweight, and a washed out one at that. Leave that to younger, brighter, and more lucid minds, 'kay?? Meanwhile, get back to your TM, and resist that impulse to fire up an Old Gold.

It All Boils Down To 3 Words

You can piss & moan. Wail. Whine. Rend your clothes. Gnash your teeth. Rail. Rant. Pound your chest. Slap your forehead. Or you can accept the truth. There are some really really really pug-ugly nasty mean contrary mo'phawkers out there. But just remember the three magic words that brought this whole freakin' pile together. "My fellow Americans . . . "

@(Supposed to be) Quick thoughts on Palin's base

Lret's just say that these folks' base is just that . . . . base.

Tin-pot Palin??

It has the right ring, or should I say, clank, to it.

"tin-pot (also tinpot, tin pot), adj.

Small-time, inferior.

Typically found in the context of generals or dictators, in which case it is invariably derogatory, denoting someone whose capabilities are inferior to his rank. This is the basic meaning but in practice it's more often used in a broader sense. As in, one who imagines he has more power than his position carries, or harbours delusions of grandeur beyond his means and capabilities. Tin is regarded as a lesser material for some metal objects--most notably pots--to be made of, though I also get the mental image of children playing soldiers wearing saucepans on their heads for helmets.

The tin-pot general is the type of officer who is liable to engage in ill-advised manoeuvres for the sake of commanding an operation, or to harass civilians because he can, and is closely related to the stereotypical portrait of a small, blustering man in uniform who suffers from an inferiority complex and who acts like a child bossing around his playmates.

A tin-pot dictator would be the sort who imagines himself as being an international statesman and/or military genius, and conducts himself in a manner inconsistent with his actual (diminished) prestige outside his small realm of absolute power. These are the ones who are likely to embroil their country in military escapades outside their borders. Idi Amin might be a good example.

Also, a pot made of tin.

The word first appears in the OED as early as 1838 but is not found in less comprehensive works."

Small Acorns Grow Into Mighty Oaks

shooter 242 returns to the fray: "There's no doubt that it was a dastardly lie of biblical proportions to say there was no finding of wrongdoing. It is only a miracle of fates that the earth didn't stop spinning and all things on it didn't fly off into space."

'Taint the point. Abuse of power. She used her position as a public official to try and phawk someone for personal reasons. The guy might be a total dickhead, but when you use public resources for a personal vendetta, nope, not acceptable. Vindictiveness runs deep in America, but it has no place in the Guvner's office.

"It's not like she got money from Fannie and Freddie like Dodd, or is being investigated for mob bank ties, like Obama, or had a lover run a brothel of his house like Frank."

Oh yeah, well you forgot the Keating Five . . . . Jaysus shooter, someone gets caught being less than honest, and you folks (did I mention vindictive already??) have to come back with, "Well, you guys are worser. Besides, Jimmy called me a poopy-head first . . . nyuk nyuk nyuk."

shooter feebly continues, wiping the traces of tossed feces from his hands: "No, Palin committed the unforgivable sin of protecting her sister from a not very nice guy. Obviously there is no punishment too harsh for such a transgression of the public trust. Maybe you guys should put together a lynch mob. Heh."

Tsk, the arguments get feebler and less lucid. If she's gonna be a small town tyrant, and abuse power so pitifully, what'll she be like when (and if) she goes big time. Haven't we had enough of these people over the past 50 or so years???

A Caricature Of A Obama Hater?

Queen "B" writes: "When, when, when! At what point will Obama supporters concede that he is an . . . SNIP!!!! . . . When, when, when!"

Is it only me? Swift's 'Modest Proposal' it ain't, but would it be safe to say that Queen "B" wrote this with tongue firmly in cheek??? I hope so.
