This all about a flag?? I was brought up in a family that could give jack-sh!t about a flag. Any flag. I do not stand, doff my hat, nor salute any flag. As George Carlin notes, the flag is a symbol, so let's leave the worship of it to the symbol-minded. Burning one except perhaps to incite the natives or to keep oneself warm seems pretty silly, especially when you consider most of them are made of Chinese polyester. And don't even get me started on bowing for anyone's concept of gawd. What I believe is between me and HER and is nobody's business. The problem being one of diminishing returns. To keep her audience, folks like Annie 'The Stick' Coulter has to out-coulter herself constantly. It's not like she actually has anything intelligent or interesting, or even new for that matter, to say (we can't accuse her of not being 'green' -- she keeps recycling her schtick), it's how she says it. I think not. He's framing the situation. He's dealing with the old ploy: Intellectual = liberal = bush hater = somehow not the real deal common sense patriotic American. It really doesn't wash, especially when his whole rant is full of four & five syllable words.

I think the revulsion people feel about this man and the motley crew he surrounds himself with is instinctive rather than a thought process. I rather like snakes, but my first reaction when encountering one is instinctive rather than intellectual. My lizard brain kicks in and I react. Same as the feeling I get with George.

You know something shooter, I really don't like myself for having such intense emotions and nasty feelings about a man who should be respected in that position. It makes me ashamed that I could harbor such feelings, and I suspect a whole lot of people feel the same way.
