Demonizing those who dissent

As Seymour Hersh puts it: "We have this wonderful capacity in America to Hitlerize people. We had Hitler, and since Hitler we've had about 20 of them. Khrushchev and Mao and of course Stalin, and for a little while Gadhafi was our Hitler. And now we have this guy Ahmadinejad."

http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,508394,00.html

An older article: ""For most human beings, it takes an awful lot to allow them to kill another human being," said Anthony Pratkanis, a psychology professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. "The only way to do it is to justify the killing, to make the enemy look as evil as possible."

Propaganda, both by governments and the private media, has evolved over the years as media has evolved. But, some say, the principle remains the same.

"The secret in propaganda is that when you demonize, you dehumanize," said James Forsher, a film historian and documentary filmmaker who has studied propaganda films, and who is an assistant professor of mass communications at California State University, Hayward.

"When you dehumanize, it allows you to kill your enemy and no longer feel guilty about it," he said. "That is why during World War II, a lot of caricatures became animals. … You can kill a monkey a lot more easily than you can kill a neighbor."

Warsaw Ghetto vs.Gaza Ghetto??

"if you put the welfare of "all mankind" above your own people, you will get your own people slaughtered."

So, knowing what we know about human spirit and how it can't be broken -- actually, how the harder you suppress it, the stronger the will becomes -- is this what is actually happening in Gaza?? Or are these 'human cockroaches' fair game in the chicken run of life??

Ya, I know you're going to try and tar me with an anti-semite remark, but my beef isn't with the jewish people, but rather with the bad jewish people.

Burr Under Our Saddle

All you really need to know about this Sugarman guy -- "that's no comparison ("Warsaw Ghetto vs.Gaza Ghetto?") one was extermination pit the other a breeding pit (the gazans have the highest birthrate in the world). with no other survival trait other than fertility you can imagine how well they will fit into the modern literate intelligence-needing world. they subsist off beggary - alms from the EU, the gulf states, and the UNRRA. their "job"? existing, annoying israel, breeding. since they already the social construct for utilizing surplus females, why not waste some in suicide? why not rocket israel and destroy the greenhouses? it's a malignant pestilential theocratic mafia-clan run sewer. but it's not israel any more. if you love it so, join them. you might not be so totally blase anymore."

As I said, I have no problem with jewish people -- wonderful folks, by and large. But like all groups, you're going to touch the bottom and find the really fucking bad ones like Sugarman, whose job is to spread hatred, bigotry, and to generally irritate people. A jewish version of Annie Coulter, so-to-speak.

I Really, Really Shouldn't But I Just Can't Help It

I dislike assholes of any stripe. But *sugarman* takes the cake. Nasty sawn-off little piece of work with a big chip on his shoulder (he cringes and lashes out through life because he assumes everyone hates him because he's jewish -- afraid not, *sugarman*, you've earned your status because you're a nasty sawn-off little piece of work). But I digress.

Normally I'd consider your kind of rant the work of (and they really worsen as the evening lingers on) a) a total loonie who is really in the midst of losing it -- I can just visualize the flecks of spittle on the monitor and the foam on the keyboard, b) a total loonie very heavily under the influence of some very bad mind altering substance or another, c) a provocateur -- a paid goon who likes to irritate people and break up meetings, d) a roomful of chimpanzees pounding on keyboards, the results all of which are gathered and strung together by one of those guys who use to edit the Letters to the editor of Penthouse magazine, or) e) a random-word generator gone ape-wire.

*sugarman* 'writes':why does totallyblase want to know why "moslems hate us" while not caring if jews do?

because he's used to jews being subservient (as they were supposed to, according to The Good Book) but he's used to arabs killing. so he's scared. he's NOT from the military. funny, NONE of the military would call me such as he. why? they AREN'T scared. get used to it Christian! we're not following the program any more! (at least, some, a few, enough, of us - that's why there will always be jews, but not of GG or ANY that totallyblase would consider "good")."

Wow, now he's claiming to be a psychic as well. I'm used to jews being subservient?? Whatever. I'm used to arabs killing? I'm scared? I'm NOT from the military (hey! got one right!!) I'm a Christian?? Woah, when did that happen?? Sorry *sugarman*, I'll not waste any more of your time. You certainly won't be wasting mine. I see your posting on any board, I leave. I'll know that someone's already poisoned that well . . .

10 Seconds after signing in

I'm signing out.

*sigh*.

Move along, folks. Nothing happening here.

Just *sugarman* is pissing in the pool again.

Cruising The Caliphate -- Dennis Perrin wades in

The enemy of my enemy, or whatever . . .

"Many of you have gently chided me in the past for being too hard on Glenn Greenwald, whose readership vastly outnumbers mine, and who is professionally employed by the corporate media. So I seriously doubt that I'm doing more than just bouncing BBs off Greenwald's site. But today I put down my tiny air rifle and side with Glenn, as he's known to busy libloggers everywhere, for he's under whacked-out reactionary assault, and tactical differences are petty in the face of such rabid fear and ugliness."
