Identity politics run amok. Mrs. Clinton (the candidate of middle-class white women) willing to use the well-known aversion of hispanics for blacks to her advantage. Put California in her column.

Does this mean that Mr. Clinton isn't the first black president any more?

Listen very carefully, I will say this only once.

The last two blessings bestowed on our nation by middle class white women flexing their political muscle were prohibition and abortion on demand. (Oh wait, I forgot animal rights, during an era when child labor in textile mills was rampant).

I for one don't feel that I must do penance for Mr. Clinton's errant penis by supporting the insufferable campaign of his long suffering wife.

You write, "I would hire her to run my company."

I have no doubt you would. But suppose you work at a Tyson plant in a "right to work" state, where your best hope of having your $11.60 / hour wage keep up with your rising cost of living is getting a union. And suppose you'd like to have two days off in a row every week, which is unheard of in Tyson plants (which have roots in Hope, Arkansas).

I don't recall the Democratic party being the party of entrepeneurs. I wish you well, but I will most certainly be voting *against* you and your kind.

You wrote, "Hillary Rodham Clinton is giving us reality with good hard hitting specifics, excellent action plans, and great feelings of confidence. This is the person I want as my President. I say: “fight on Mrs. Clinton”.... one state at a time. You’re doing fine. Keep at it! Thank you."

Yep. Let's see how 50% black South Carolina comes in, in response to Hispanic Nevada. A month ago, I wouldn't have believed it, but I am increasingly suspicious that Hillary has figured out a way for the Democrats to lose the general election in '08. Red-faced finger-wagging lying Bill is a great asset. You go.

When Obama sticks to the issues and doesn't play the race card he's doing kumbyayuh? That's sick.

You wrote, "It would be greatly to the benefit of the nation as a whole if Clinton and Obama could be part of the same administration".

I ask: had Hillary not been Bill's wife, why would we even be discussing her?

If you were chief of staff of a newly elected Democratic administration, would you suggest to the newly elected President that s/he nominate Hillary for secretary of Health and Human Services? After the fiasco we all remember?

Hillary has experience. It's just not good experience.

Does the candidate understand that government is sometimes the only hope of the poor for protection against the action of the wealthy in the economy (Jonah Goldberg notwithstanding)?

I was a public housing manager in Bethlehem, PA for several years and I can affirm that the hispanics hated the blacks. I have been deeply saddened to see the Clinton campaign embrace this in Nevada.

Juliebird wrote, "Yes, HRC married well. Yes, she used Bill's connections to help launch her as a national figure. But the woman is (like Obama, and like Edwards) intelligent, driven, and visionary. It's not like she drifted through her life, earning Cs at all her schools, losing at every business she tried, and being generally dissolute, and then ran for office on her family's reputation."

That's true. She was remarkably successful at commodities trading - and remarkably unsuccessful at coming up with national health care when the moment for it was right (Harris Wofford just having been elected Senator from PA on the strength of a campaign focused on the subject; Bill Clinton still having been rich in political capital).

There are only two possible reasons for supporting Mrs. Clinton in her bid for the nomination. One is female identity politics, and the other is Clintonophilia - or should I say, "Clinton mania"?

AKA Smith wrote, "To keep bringing up the previous health care plan when she was First Lady is a fairly boring drum beat. Rather focus on the now. Tell us what you like about Obama's current health care proposal compared to hers. I would prefer a plan that covers everyone."

If the best plan for national health care forthcoming in 2008 from the party of FDR is "you must buy it if you have a body, just as you must buy auto insurance if you have a car", I prefer Obama's absence of punitive sanctions against those who don't buy it because they can't.
