birth

We desperately need trained volunteers for all birth mothers. Doulas can come in during pregnancy, trained volunteers after birth. and even healthy mothers would welcome an extra hand. Then we can find the sick and violent quickly.

wandering men

joan et al.i lived through this kind of adultery several decades ago, took my babies and left

because my then husband had met his "soulmate", found myself broke and without health insurance ,and started the long road to a new life. i moved forward, remarried, built a business,

took no resentment with me, contributed to the community, was a good enough mother and guess what happened. They got rich and everyone says everything is "my fault" and i never even went on Oprah.

Lets go to the heart of it-mysogynist divorce laws and attitudes towards women, disrespect a devaluing of women and children, and there is no right thing to do .

it isnt about Sanford,Edwards,Clinton, Craig ,or whatever.

You tell me why doing everything you columnists recommended wasnt enough. i would like to know.(By the way when the celebrity died the story of the "torrid affair " was in the NY Times. )

Yes really .Decades later.

Danger??

it seems that our former VP Cheney has forgotten that Pakistan really has a bomb and a disorganized government and Al Queda on its border with Afghanistan. Mr. Cheney you had your chance and your paranoia screwed everything up. Now you had your turn-give us a break and step out.

the Edwards Saga

Well now don't let us sell Elizabeth Edwards short. This is one bright lady and she knows what she is doing. After Larry King,Oprah ,and the book, if Elizabeth gets worse, good chance that

Rielle and John will be viewed as so rotten that he might just tell Elizabeth where the money is.

This creep and John is that has met his match. As for whats her name, forget the kid, rielle had better hide him/her as he/she will not grow up as on of natures nobleman. When this is over

John may or may not squirm out of it but it will take some pretty smooth talking and he has done that. Over and Over again. Would you hire him as a lawyer taking into account that the judge just might hate him???And everyone else???why doesnt selda spitzer do the same thing??

We coud start a trend.

re the republicans

the last 8 years have destroyed the republican party andits values. there are 3 possibilities-

1)a 1 party system

2)a 3rd party

3)a reform of the republican party from within by people of logic and excellence

remember the mothers

I was left with 2 babies,$100.00-,no health insurance, and no benefits of any kind after 10 years of marriage to an executive husband with the savvy to move on and make- are you ready-?? $500 million dollars. now 5 decades later there is no help in retirement, he says he owes me no money, and there are many who say i am "wrong' about something. It is no different today Divorce laws are murky at best. Mothers need a union. i would never have a child without a prenup and that is sad.it was a struggle to make it and i almost didn't. we need the men to be as outraged as we are.

bullying

what would you say if the parents and syblings were the bullies or scapegoaters and if it arose suddenly about 4 decades after high school? is there an accurate way to view it?

re bullying and suicude

re suicide- i was bullied in high school for getting straight A's and in fear just having left the hospital recovering from pneumonia gave in .i dropped my grades to be "safe".this was the beginning of misogynist abuse which lasted all my life.at no time did i considet suicide . iknow that the culture"punished" me for achieving and i fought verbal, emotional, and financial abuse all my life.i had many dreams. they were not completely killed, just impaired.i learned to associate accomplishment with punishment. i am feeling old beyond my years .The epidemic of abuse of women and children is not being dealt with.is everyone asleep or twittering?

teen age girls are being abused and impregnated by their so called boy friends.wake up before we lose another generation. you good men out there stand with us before it is too late.

the hatred of women can destroy a culture.

columbine

This story is beyond tragic. if one of the shooters was a psychopath and there were warning signs what legal steps would it have taken to give him a test that predicts violence ie the "Hare Psychopathic Checklist Revised"? That is the work of the leading researcher into psychopathic behavior disorder,Dr. Robert Hare of the u. of British Columbia. Has anyone checked that out???

trial

i am very disappointed at the handling of the supposed case against the former governor. i fail to see how he could get a fair trial.i do not suggest that he is innocent or guilty.

this is a strange case.

the media

A very strange power grab is taking place and believe it or not it is dangerous. The media

is creating at will image of poiticians ,public servants, and celebrities or anyone well known any way they choose. I have for example watched the entire coverage of the 2 terms of the Governor of Illinois and after much study think he is innocent and altruistic. I have seen well known people vilified for talking too much when they hadnt, and i think it amounts in many cases to slander. One of the worst offenders s Maureen Dowd who is preposterously inaccurate whether you agree with her or not. The media has criticized the new President with evident enthusiasm

after barely a week. the comments , praise or blame are rarely researched. This is unacceptable and we the electorate are the only ones who can demand careful reporting..That is urgent.
