As a liberal living in the politically-disillusioned UK, I find the attitude to `hope' in this campaign (“The cynics dismissed us as a lot of hype and a little too much hope”) fascinating. Barack Obama’s insistence on hope seems to rest on a belief in the potential of individuals to better themselves that is rarely expressed in our fearful and divisive political climate.
