  • Here's what you have to explain

[Read the article: Are you going to hell?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Please tell me why I should have belief or faith in your, "God," with a capital G, Jehovah, Yahweh, and not in:

An, Anat, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Atlas, Baal, Bacchus, Brahma, Ceres, Charun, Demeter, Diana, Dionysus, Eos, Freya, Gaia, Ganesha, Hades, Helios, Hera, Hermes, Ishtar, Isis, Juno, Jupiter, Krishna, Loki, Luna, Mars, Mercury, Minerva, Mithras, Nanse, Nemesis, Neptune, Nut, Odin, Osiris, Pan, Phoebe, Poseidon, Quezalcoatl, Ra, Shiva, Sol, Thanatos, Thor, Tiamat, Utu, Venus, Vesta, Vishnu, Vulcan, Xi Wang-mu, Yarikh, or Zeus.

All of those gods have or had holy scriptures, and at one time, thousands upon thousands of believers. I'd wager that every single Christian reading this is an atheist when it comes to every single one of the gods listed above.

Simply explain to me why your God is the correct one, and all of the above gods are false, without resorting to the Bible or faith without evidence, and I'll convert.

Your challenge is based on the false premise that anyone who accepts a belief system has anything to prove to you.

Maybe you don't have anything to prove to me, but many others do. Otherwise there would be no missionaries. I think I'm responsible for many an LDS member questioning their faith, and I think that's a good thing. I'm one of the few who answer the door and talk to them, though generally once they figure out I'm an evil scientist devil, they don't come back.

  • The Florida/Michigan disenfranchisement canard

[Read the article: A non-paranoid's guide to superdelegates]

Full disclosure, I am an Obama supporter. However, I really am trying to view this from an objective viewpoint. Here is the situation as I see it:

Exhibit A: none of the candidates were allowed to campaign in either Florida or Michigan. How can we say how the vote would have gone if they had been allowed?

Exhibit B: Neither Edwards nor Obama was on the ballot in Michigan. How can we say what the vote would have turned out if they had been on the ballot?

Now, I'll grant you that the case of Florida is unfortunate, and if the Democratic party decided to change the rules and allow their vote to count, I wouldn't be (loudly) crying foul. But tell me how we can fairly count the vote in Michigan.

If both states were allowed a re-vote, I'd be strongly in favor of it, and I imagine any other fair minded person would be as well. Unfortunately, the cost is likely prohibitive, unless the DNC pays for it.

  • Minutes from the two minute hate meeting

Farrakhazhikistan is a saint, Jews are the DEH-vil, the Palestinians should just get to have all of Israel to themselves, the Jews should all move to Germany and San Francisco, Egypt and Jordan have no responsibility to the Palestinians whatsoever, and it's all Clinton's fault anyway.

Does that about sum it up, guys and girls? I'll type it up and Xerox it so we can refer to it in the next hate conference.

Let's all give a hip-hip... HOORAY for no anon postings in the first Obama article to disallow them!

No BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA troll, no Republican conspiracy crossover vote troll, no "I'm-voting-for-McCain-if-Obama-wins" troll. Did I leave any out?

  • Umm... Journalist?

I'm not sure who you're referring to. Do you mean douchebag for justice Robert Novak?

  • Travis County

[Read the article: No Texas-size victory for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't know if anyone has posted about this yet, sorry, haven't read all the replies, but, while Hillary appears to have captured Texas by a small margin, Obama carried Travis County by a 2-1 margin.

For you non Texans out there, this is significant because Travis County is the oasis of blue, in the sea of red that is Texas, where all the liberal hippie types like me live. It's also the county that contains Austin, a city everyone should visit at least once. I'm not just saying that because I live here.

  • Cognitive dissonance on the part of the "just count it" folks

[Read the article: Should Florida and Michigan vote again? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Leaving aside the real issue here, which is that states should not be allowed to break party rules with impunity, I'd like to address the folks who say we should just count Michigan as-is.

On the one hand, you claim to be oh-so-concerned about the right of the people to have their vote counted, and on the other hand you say that it's just tough noogies that none of the voters had a chance to vote for Obama. This very clearly illustrates your hypocrisy, and your true motives. Essentially, you are saying that only the people who voted for Hillary deserve to have their votes count. When Obama removes his name, it's "rules are rules." When the DNC wants to enforce their rules, it's "disenfranchisement."

As far as pissing off half of Floridians and Michiganders, is that worse than pissing off half the Democrats in the entire country?

A revote is the fairest way to resolve this issue. Asking the DNC to pay for it is like asking the referee to pay your fine when you flagrantly foul your opponent in the NBA.
