Human shield? Hahahaha
[Read the article: Another SCHIP family smeared]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, it is the DEMOCRATS that are threatening her life, using her as a human shield, by trying to give her health coverage. How could I have not seen that?
But.... wait.... who then is firing the bullets? I'm SO CONFUSED! I think I'll vote Republican.

Sorry Armenians, but this is complete nonsense
[Read the article: Genocide: An inconvenient truth]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes, the Armenian massacre was attempted genocide. Yes, it was terrible.
However, the US government these days cares only about votes, oil, and symbolic gestures. Armenians aren't undergoing genocide right now. Other people ARE.
Instead of doing anything about genocides and attempted genocides occurring right now, it's oh so much easier to pass a feel good resolution about the Armenians.
Never mind that our government has never formally acknowledged our own genocide. Never mind that we're fomenting a genocide in Iraq.
Hey maybe 500 years from now we'll acknowledge the genocides in Africa that we are doing nothing to stop. Won't that be great?

I'm sorry but
[Read the article: Public bathroom dilemma: Paper or air?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Doesn't this sort of article strike anyone else as arguing over exactly how we should clean up the elephant shit in our house... when maybe what we should do is to kick out the fucking elephant?
Sorry to put it so crudely, but we need hard hitting articles about the oil industry, and how they've been suppressing alternative fuels, how they're in bed with the car makers, and what we can do about it. We need articles about our government sponsored welfare for repressive, anti-woman governments like Pakistan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, instead of more articles about the dirty filthy Jews, and the horror of plastic bags.
Sure, plastic bags may hurt the reefs, and sure, paper towels may not be as good as wiping your hands on your pants. Thing is, if we don't kick the god damn elephant out of the house, we're going to need those plastic bags and paper towels to make into rafts, because the damn ice caps are melting.
The sun beams down more energy than we could ever use every day. The earth's rotation generates an amazing amount of energy in wind. The moon supplies us with energy in the form of tides. And here we are, primitive little savages, burning crap to make energy?
Talk about missing the big picture!

How utterly ironic
[Read the article: On the fake campaign trail]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The first ten letters here all say nearly the same thing, as though they're plants. What do you want to bet that they're being pushed to write letters here by some outside organization? Maybe even some of the same organizations that plant people at these "town hall" events!
Can any of the letter writers who've posted so far argue against the central premise of the article? All of these events are staged. Hillary just got caught, that's all. Are any of you seriously going to try to say that John McCain's events are totally organic and honest, and forthcoming?
As to the supposed favoritism toward Hillary.... did any of you actually read the article? How about this line:
The Clinton campaign has since stated that "this is not standard policy and will not be repeated again," which can be interpreted to mean that at minimum the Clinton campaign will try to do a better job of not getting caught.
Ya, that's so complimentary, I want to rush out and vote for Hillary right now! Hell, I may move to New Hampshire, so I can be one of the first!

Oh, rubbish and bother
[Read the article: "Proust Was a Neuroscientist"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]He justly says that "[t]here is still no dialogue of equals ... [and that] there are many ways of describing reality, each of which is capable of generating truth."
Truth? People like to throw that word around a bit, but what does it really mean? If it means, "that which is measurable," well, you measure it, you find the truth. If it means, "that which is unmeasurable," then you can't measure it, and maybe you should call it "belief," or "faith," and not "truth."
I get tired of hearing these platitudes bandied about as though they're self-obvious and tautological. In point of fact, it wasn't religious faith or philosophy that landed a roving craft on the planet Mars. Christianity can't make a testable prediction or a falsifiable claim.
I don't care how long you pray, God isn't going to tell you how to design a circuit or how to cure cancer. For that matter, praying can't feed the world's hungry. That takes money and hard work. Yet, even given this complete lack of any sort of practical result, people persist in this delusion that religion has some bearing on truth.
So, well meaning people will cop-out, and say that the bible contains wisdom. Sure, it contains great wisdom. On the other hand, it contains some of the most vile and unspeakable acts ever recorded throughout history. Acts of genocide, casual mysogeny, and a petty tyrant of a God that behaves like a spoiled 2 year old. Please, spare the world your wisdom and truth. We can't take much more of it before it kills us all.

Nancy Pelosi does not become president if Bush and Cheney get impeached
[Read the article: McClellan implicates Bush, Cheney in Plame lie]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Read your constitution. If Cheney got impeached first, Bush names a new VP, who gets confirmed by both houses of congress.
If Bush gets impeached first, Cheney becomes President, and appoints a new VP.
So, who would they appoint? The Senate would confirm John McCain in a heartbeat. He's a sitting Senator.
So, if you wanna see President John McCain, go for impeachment.

Don't kid yourself Robert
[Read the article: McClellan implicates Bush, Cheney in Plame lie]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]John McCain would get approved in record time. Do you really think the Senate, who approved Muckasey and Alito and Roberts, is gonna give the thumb down on John McCain?
There's no filibuster in the House, so do you think the House would turn down McCain? If so, you're in fantasy land.
