A couple of points . . .
[Read the article: "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ms. Zacharek praises "one of the movie's wittiest visual touches, her office walls are covered with dozens of porcelain plates, each adorned with a purring, mewing, wriggling soft-focus kitten -- a marvelous bit of shorthand for the cozy oppressiveness of cutesy decor." Just to give credit where it's due, that is directly out of the book (not that they didn't do a good job of visualizing it).
Claire Fontaine should know that some fans love the film of The Prisoner of Azkaban (it's rated higher than the first two on IMDb, and just a hair behind the fourth film). I think it's the best adaptation so far.
Ikuiku engages in some hyperbole saying the film is less than two hours long, it's 2:18 (though still - just - the shortest).
Finally, acorvid's "review" of the LOTR films - possibly the only masterpieces of the current century - is one of the most bizarre opinions I've ever seen expressed.

Racial Divide regarding Michael Vick
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"there's an interesting racial divide on the issue of Vick's guilt or innocence."
After Rodney King, O.J. Simpson and Barry Bonds, it would be a lot more interesting if there wasn't a racial divide on the issue of Vick's guilt or innocence.
Welcome back, King, you were sorely missed!

This incident won't be keeping him out of the HOF
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]BaseballHistorian wrote "I wonder if Hall of Fame voters will hold this against Offerman like they did Marichal. He may have ruined his chances of getting into the HOF."
Nothing against Offerman, who was a good player, but this isn't going to be affecting his shot at the Hall of Fame. Players with .273 lifetime averages with atrocious power (57 homers) and no gold gloves don't need to be working on their Cooperstown reservations even without swinging bats at opposing pitchers and catchers.
On the other hand, after Roberto Alomar has been retired for five years I'll bet that his infamous spitting at the umpire will keep him out of the HOF for at least a few years, even though his numbers are easily good enough for inclusion. He might have to quote that player from long ago, who was fined for spitting and said, "That fine was more than I exporated."

I've never watched LL baseball on TV
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I've never liked the idea of 12 year old kids having the pressure on them that being on national TV entails. Heck, I was nervous for my kid when he was playing little league and only being watched by the other kids there and the parents.
Rule of thumb - if a player's statistics include their favorite Pokemon, they're too young to have that kind of pressure on them.

A Republican pro-choice serial adulterer?
[Read the article: When Rudy met Hillary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]At 8:54 AM Anonymous asked "Does anyone really think that we are going to have a president who is a pro-choice, serial adulterer?" After being tweaked (three times) by someone, he/she amended it to a Republican pro-choice, serial adulterer. Let me answer - NO. The way people think that the nomination is Giuliani's to lose amazes me. Folks, nearly eight years ago McCain upset Bush in New Hampshire and the Republican painted HIM as being too liberal. Can you imagine what they'll do to Giuliani? The imagination staggers. And as a pro-life Republican, let me tell you that I'm in the camp of supporters who will vote for a third party candidate if by some miracle Giuliani ever did get the nomination. But I don't think that it will come to that, thank God.

A Republican pro-choice serial adulterer?
[Read the article: When Rudy met Hillary]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In the previous letter, I meant to say that the South Carolina Republicans painted McCain as a liberal, which is what led to his eventual trouncing. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

Ah, the tolerance of the left!
[Read the article: What the Huck?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Whenever I hear people complaining about the intolerance and vitriol on the right, I like to come over to Salon.com and read the letters. Then I am reminded of the fact that the "tolerant" liberals are AT LEAST as nasty, condescending and extreme as anyone on the right.
Perusing through the letters, I see Huckabee and other Christians described as "nutbars", "nitwits", "raving nutcases", "Christian kooks", "cuckoo fundamentalist political Christians", "loony like Huckabee" and "loud and hateful evangelical nut-cases". (I'm not sure if that poster was being ironic in labeling them as "hateful" considering what's going on here, but I suspect not!) Timbuktom actually calls Huckabee a "rational, experienced person" - I was wondering how that letter slipped in! Get with the program, timbuktom!
On to other things. One writer complains that "huge chunks of the electorate believe (McCain) is ‘pro-choice’ and pro gay rights and will appoint Anthony Kennedy’s to the Supreme Court." If anyone believes that, with his voting record being as long as your arm and his statements regarding the justices he'd appoint, they should be declared too lazy and/or too uninformed to vote. And one writer "looks forward to increasing strife within the Republican party." Umm . . . possible, but the GOP is not the party most likely to have a brokered, bitter convention later this year.
Simple fact: it's Huckabee's right to continue to run, and to let the voters in ALL states have their say. He may not win, but he's having fun and has done enormously better than anybody expected. If you had asked 100 pundits three months ago who would be left in the field when it was down to basically a two man race (no offence to Ron Paul), I doubt if even one would have said Huckabee would still be standing after Romney and Guiliani were out. (Although I predicted - in these pages, I believe - that Guiliani had absolutely no chance, no matter what the press was saying.)
