Do you have a source for this claim:
"Obama announces that all interrogations must comply with the Army Field Manual but then has his CIA Director announce that he will seek greater interrogation authority whenever it is needed and convenes a task force to determine which enhanced interrogation methods beyond the Field Manual should be authorized."
I was not aware of this, because I'd been thinking that the one decent thing Obama had done is ban torture.
It's good to see human rights advanced, even if the advancement is small and incremental. There is still much work to do on a social level to eliminate genital mutilation.
It is also still mind boggling that gender factors into these equations. I doubt any of us will live to see all forms of genital mutilation abandoned.
No matter how bad or stupid the Blue Dogs are being (and I think they -are- being bad and stupid), the title for this piece is even more stupid. Congress should no more follow the orders of the President than I should.
Obama is not the boss of them.
I'm a man, and my best friend is a woman. We became best friends back in high school where we would see each other in the hallway before 7th period and had a hard time resisting skipping class (we became adept at forging our parents' signatures on absence slips).
She decided at one point that we should try and hook up. That two week long dating fiasco soured our relationship for a few months before we made up. We haven't lived in the same city for over 15 years, but we see each other about once a year and it's like no time has passed.
Even though it's not an earth shattering revelation, I still enjoyed reading an article that reinforced what's always been obvious to me.
