Stop trying to find a name for what your son is and start parenting him. Set some limits, be consistent and be strong. Yeah, he's a mischievous 2 year old pushing to see what he can get away with. But if punching someone in the balls and running around a restaurant licking things (what, did you just watch?) goes unchecked, yeah, "dick" will fit pretty soon.
... if you read this book for the sex scenes. Some bloggers have posted excerpts of the sex scenes out of context of an example of how immoral this book is. Although a few steamy details are included, the sex scenes are brief and not outrageous, if you can consider the possibility that Laura Bush has had sex with her husband.
I welcomed this article precisely because I was just reading a lot of election coverage. Sometimes a little frivolity is a nice break from Sarah Palin's face.
First of all, the state of your office mate's desk is none of your business. Her chattiness and aroma are another issue. If she's keeping you from getting your work done, that's worth mentioning. Did you mention that? Did you tell her that you needed more quiet and give her a chance to rectify? When you complained to your boss what reason did you give for your desire to move?
While it sounds like the LW acted unfairly, the boss handled it even worse. Whatever he said, he managed to piss off this woman and put the LW in a very difficult position with a co-worker. Not smooth, not helpful.
LW, you're only hope in salvaging this situation is to go to your ex-office mate and apologize for how it was handled. Explain that you never meant to get her kicked out of her office and you're sorry you started the oafish boss on this path. She may still hate you, but it's never bad to have an apology on the table. And it could help her to get past it.
Seriously, can we move on? Yes, it's important to look into her background if she's could be "a heartbeat away", but is this really the only campaign issue? How many days in the last three weeks has McCain or Obama been the lead Salon story? Compare that to how many times it's been Palin, Dude Palin, Special Needs Baby Palin, etc. Please, get another topic!
Why write an article trying to label what small-town America things of the election and then determine that there are a lot of differing opinions in small town America? Didn't see that one coming? News flash: there is no common thinking in small-town America any more than there is in big city America. Nor is there common thinking among women on female candidates. As a woman and a small-town resident, all these articles are offensive.
Frankly, anyone who is swayed to vote because a vice-presidential candidate is plain-spoken is not an informed voter. Why doesn't Salon write an article about the fact that so many people base their voting decisions on such ridiculous notions? Another article I'd like to see: how many of the so-called undecided voters will really vote? Are people who are undecided this late in the game about two quite disparate tickets really still making up their minds or are they just so disaffected that they don't and won't care?
This is such a no-brainer: be gone when gets back. Better you move out and make a clean break than to kick him out, which will be messier and you'll have to continue to deal with him and his things for a while.
He doesn't love you and he vacations with other women. I can't believe anyone in your life is telling you that this is a relationship to stay with. They must have really low standards.
She did this to pay for college when there were very few options for women.
Uh, variable - this isn't 1903 we're talking about, it was 1984. Maybe that sounds like a long time ago to you, but today's 40-somethings were not attending college in the days before suffrage. I started college in 1983 and there were plenty of options for women, just as many as there were for men. It was called get a job and get a loan. Lots of people go to college without a sports scholarship, then and now. In fact, college tuition was much less inflated back then. You could go to a state university for $2000 a semester "way back in the olden days".
It's an embarrassment to women that this is the female candidate closest to the White House. Is this really the best we can do to represent our gender? Someone who can't speak to the press, can't formulate a thought on foreign policy, has none of the experience needed to be in the White House. But she got herself through college by strutting around in a bathing suit. That's one of her strong points? I'd rather be represented by Hillary. She may have her flaws, but at least she's not an empty suit held up to placate the female voters.
I wonder where Obama would be in the polls if he had chosen Bruce Springsteen for vice president? Oh well, I can dream can't I?
Well, New Jersey would no longer be a swing state.
LW - you're friends might be the greatest teenagers in the world, or they might be slightly clueless and self-absorbed and not really be the best judge of if you know what's going on or not. Don't assume because they don't get you that there's something wrong with you. As you can tell by these letters, your behavior isn't out of the norm for a lot of people.
But I agree Cary's advice is good. Get evaluated, get your hearing checked. You might learn something valuable that can help you explain things.
