"The bit about Helping the Enemies is purely false, just standard Bush fear-mongering."

I don't think this is a false statement at all. The Bush/Cheney administration has been very consistent in this. The American people and the constitution are the enemies of the Bush/Cheney administration, terrorists are a smoke screen.

Bush Vows to take Message of Freedom to Beijing

Wonder what's in that message? Seems like Bush has the same concept of freedom as the Chinese government does.

http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Bush_vows_to_take_message_of_freedo_07292008.html

US President George W. Bush met with five Chinese "freedom activists" on Tuesday and told them he would take a "message of freedom" to next month's Olympic Games in Beijing, the White House said.

"President Bush met with five Chinese freedom activists to discuss his concerns about human rights in China," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said in a statement.

"The president assured them that he will carry the message of freedom as he travels to Beijing for the games, just as he has regularly made this a priority in all of his meetings with Chinese officials."

One thing that contributes to this fear...

is that anytime the Democrats go negative, the Republicans threaten that it will "backfire" on them or there will be a "backlash" What was the first response from the McCain houses? BE AFRAID! WE WEREN'T GOING TO GET PERSONAL BUT YOU HAVE OPENED THE DOOR!

Good to see them beating up on Harry Reid and the media a little bit, maybe this will create a little backlash them for a change instead of turning the other cheek.

Original article: Who are "the deciders"?

This debate is being framed entirely wrong.

It is the Presidents job to define the mission statement and the military's job to define the logistics of that mission statement. After the logistics are defined it is up to the executive to review the plans.

If you want to argue for pulling our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, argue with the President to create a mission statement that accomplishes this goal. If you want to argue that the military is asking above and beyond what it needs to accomplish its mission, argue that.

To argue who should be the decider (president or military) is just another ridiculous Republican lynch mob tactic. This is probably the real argument to make, that once again, Republicans don't understand the basic concepts of our democracy.
