  • An American Corporate State?

[Read the article: McCain was rushed, got sloppy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That's what the repubs seem to be promoting with all this emphasis on "executive experience". Dems shouldn't take the bait.

Sarah Palin represents just about as dumb a decision as McCain could have made, in-depth vetting or not. She has nothing to recommend her to the American people.

By the way, an earlier reply cited Eisenhower as an example of a president without executive experience. Wow! Somebody needs to go back and take another look at a history book. Ike probably had more executive experience than any president in our history, and his real understanding of corporate thinking led to that little "Military-Industrial Complex" warning he gave us in his valedictory.

  • Levi

[Read the article: He shoots, he scores]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Little Levi's MySpace page ..... After reading that, would you want your daughter to marry him? How did the guy get past the Palin's front door? Obviously, he wasn't vetted ...

  • Yuck!

[Read the article: How did Sarah Palin do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wrong approach, horrible speech, juvenile delivery. Absolute preaching to the choir that will never appeal to the voters that the Republicans need to attract right now.

No pit bull, just Rush Limbaugh in drag.

Let's see how many more people she can alienate before this is over with.

  • Conclusions

[Read the article: Sarah Palin's real soul mate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Interesting article, and I think the basic premise is correct, except Palin can out-Dubya Dubya any day of the week. Bush always had a decent streak somewhere in him, not completely smothered by those around him, while Palin is just what her nickname implies, Sarah Barracuda. She's taking to her pit bull persona with far too much gusto and if it continues at this level much longer, she'll starting not just turning people off, but repelling them. To me, she's already exhibiting some other irritating qualities that will wear very thin before November and she will probably make some serious mistakes. All she's doing is firing up the base that's already firmly committed and it looks like that's about all she can succeed at; she's not going to attract any thinking undecideds or Hilary supporters.

I just can't think of any real, long term positives she brings to the table for the Republicans, but I can recognize a ton of things that can be used against her. If the Democratic powers that be aren't rubbing their hands in glee, God help 'em.

  • Nailed

[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

rocksaltandnails hit it right on the head. Sarah P just doesn't recognize her own mostly severe limitations yet. If she did, she never would have accepted the nomination. Before this is over with, she'll wish she hadn't.

At this point, I think withdrawal is a pretty good bet.

  • Gary nailed her

    [Read the article: The dominatrix]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think Gary got to the core of Sarah Palin and her attraction to certain individuals, but that's only meaningful to the small minority of Americans who really understand and care what he's talking about.

Unfortunately, he also nailed Obama, so boring and droning in his latest public appearances. Don't the Dems have anyone who understands image? Pacing a stage tieless, in shirtsleeves, rambling into a microphone, does not an appeal to blue collars make. He doesn't look presidential, he looks like a community organizer. He needs to get after the big issues, big time, to a big audience, and more than anything else, "drill" the Repubs on the economy, which is (and will continue to be) so much in the news and so much on everyone's minds.

  • Wasilla to Washington

[Read the article: "I fear for my country"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Sure she's big up north, but Alaska has given her a free ride, and it's a long way from Juneau and Wasilla to Washington, both culturally and politically. Unless everyone in the lower 48 just basically decides to give her the same free ride, there are simply too many questions she can't answer truthfully without torpedoing herself. She's been operating in a political vacuum for all of her brief career, doing things her way for a very small audience.

All the Dems have to do is play hardball without letup: keep her in the spotlight and smother her with ALL the hard questions about her education, her experience, and her political philosophy. Sooner or later she has to reveal how small she really is or cave completely. The structure is rotten; all we have to do to cause a collapse is kick in the door.

  • cat vs roomba

[Read the article: The Wall Street meltdown -- and you]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You are sooo freaking stupid it makes my head hurt to read your posts, so no more. You're obviously not going to get any smarter, so go post somewhere else.

  • Filthy Harry

[Read the article: Sarah Palin, anointed by God]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Normally, I just respond to the articles and not other's posts. However, sometimes the stupidity gets so thick I can't restrain myself.

FH, Palin is an issue herself, and not a minor one.

  • Get Ready

[Read the article: Sarah Palin, anointed by God]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Christian zealots don't just want an "anointed" leader for Armageddon, they want one that will actively work to bring about the end times.

This is what they see in Palin.

    Finger on the trigger.

  • Discussion

[Read the article: The complete (though ever-changing) elite consensus over the financial collapse]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I don't agree that there is no discussion going on about who, why, and how. It's literally everywhere, but accompanied mostly by hapless hand-wringing.

What is generally missing is any discussion of consequences for the people who deliberately and without conscience caused this. It can be done. We know who they are and where they are. We know exactly what they did.

We let the S&L and junk bond thieves off the hook. Most of them are still millionaires. This is an opportunity to create a precedent that will give pause to anyone who might implement a scheme like this in the future.

Drag 'em in and grind 'em into dogmeat.

  • Relevance

[Read the article: The fungible candidate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I know why you'd all like to get the subject changed, but for you troll-plants who keep writing letters stating that Sarah Palin is irrelevant, please get your heads out. She's the Republican VP nominee and potential future President, for chrissake, and therefore, her every noun/verb/subject combination (?) is worthy of analysis. I WANT to know EXACTLY how uneducated, inexperienced, unqualified, and narrow-minded she really is. She's an absolute reflection of John McCain's lack of judgement. If anyone can prove to me otherwise, I'll listen to that, too.

... and don't whine about Obama's "lack of experience". There's absolutely no comparison.
